(I am not sure it qualifies for this template. I mean, it is a dimension, not a landmass or place in space, and we don't usually give such places this template)

Special Zone Post-SGW

The Special Zone, from Sonic/Mega Man Free Comic Book Day 2014.

The Special Zone is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a pocket dimension which once acted as a place of banishment for King Acorn and Walter Naugus when Dr. Eggman took over Mobotropolis.

Description

The Special Zone is evidently a mystical dimension that is difficult to escape, as even Walter Naugus proved unable to break free from it with his magic.

History

When King Acorn's royal adviser, Dr. Eggman, betrayed him and took over Mobotropolis, the dictator banished the overthrown King into the Special Zone along with the Royal Wizard, Walter Naugus, using the Star Posts.[1] During Sonic's adventure on South Island, he would enter the Special Zone several times to find the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic later managed to rescue King Acorn (Walter Naugus in disguise) from the Zone on his sixth visit and the latter gave him the Chaos Emerald he found there.[2] The New Freedom Fighters later managed to rescue the real King Acorn from the Zone after taking back Mobotropolis.[1]
