"Spaceman Sonic" is the thirty-third episode of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. Despite being produced as the thirty-third episode, it aired as the forty-seventh episode during the show's original run.
Dr. Robotnik flies in his Egg-O-Matic to show Scratch and Grounder his own private spacecraft launchpad, Cape Robotnik. Robotnik forces Scratch and Grounder to be astronauts for his mission to collect destructicite crystals to power his Badniks. Tails sneaks into the base and overhears Robotnik's plan, and rushes to Sonic for help.
Sonic and Tails manage to reach the rocket as it blasts off and enters inside to head to the control room. Almost instantly, Grounder manages to disable the rocket by repeatedly switching the thrust at different speeds and breaking the power switch. Scratch thinks that they're not fully doomed, as they're robots and won't run out of oxygen, but Sonic and Tails hears this and tries to find a spot to land. Sonic finds the Abandoned Space Station, which the two can redirect the rocket for oxygen. Disguising himself as a policeman, Sonic lures Grounder and Scratch out of the control room and in the back of the rocket. Using his hi-tops connected with magnets, he shifts the rocket to the space station.
As Sonic and Tails escape to find a way back to Mobius, Scratch realizes that he and Grounder has been fooled and tries to chase after Sonic. Grounder tries to jump out the rocket, but gets stuck. Due to Grounder's treads speeding against the rocket's surface, it drifts away. As Sonic and Tails runs away from the two robots, they encounter a purple blob monster with tentacles that has caught a cold and hasn't had fresh food in thirteen years. The hungry monster pursues Sonic and Tails, with Scratch and Grounder interfering the chase. The latter two manages to catch Sonic at one point, but Sonic simply spin dashes away and cause Scratch and Grounder to nearly become space food instead.
Sonic finds an abandoned spacecraft, although Scratch and Grounder arrives to claim it. After ratting away Sonic and Tails by the space monster, Scratch and Grounder thinks they're home safe - until Robotnik calls them and asks why they have failed their mission. "Why is my precious rocket ship drifting off into deep space? Why am I reaching you at the coordinates of the abandoned space station? Why? Why!? WHY!?" Robotnik uses a ray gun built in Grounder to destroy the spacecraft, stating that if Sonic is in the space station, he'll be stranded there even if it costs him his lackeys. Robotnik then uses the ray gun on Scratch and Grounder himself, destroying the two.
Sonic and Tails finds the destroyed spacecraft, alongside the maimed Scratch and Grounder. However, they believe that they can fix the aircraft and bring them back home, using parts of Scratch and Grounder as the base and the space monster as the propellent. As the slime monster sneezes the ship back home, Dr. Robotnik thinks that he has finally won and that Sonic will suffocate in space. Just then, Coconuts arrive and states that "an unidentified something" is landing in the courtyard. Now wanting to get rid of the trespassers, Sonic, Tails, Scratch, Grounder, and the blob lands on the courtyard. Sonic commands the space monster to eat his well-deserved meal of a "twelve zillion, four million calories" Robotnik. As the slime monster chases Robotnik, the latter pants "I hate that hedgehog!" while running out of breath.

The slime monster is still having a cold and Sonic teaches the audience about what to do in case of a cold, like seeing a doctor, drinking lots of fluids, getting some rest, and never to sneeze on anyone.
