South Island (サウスアイランド Sausu Airando?) is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Story Comic published in the Japanese magazine Mega Drive Fan. It is an island claimed by the narrator to be unknown to the outside world.
Description[]
South Island is describe as a peaceful island decorated with palm trees, long hills and cliffs, and containing several biomes. A greenery field where a concert was once held, underground ruins filled with traps in lava and water environments, and Dr. Eggman's machinery and construction terraforming the land.

The habitants are filled with talking Animals/Critters, followed by an island invasion from Dr. Eggman with his robot army and terraforming the environment with his construction. Sonic the Hedgehog however, along with his Band and his supporters, appear to be visitors to the island as Sonic is not familiar with the biomes.[2]

The Island's past is unknown. The opening narration indicates that no one has ever heard of nor seen the island but Dr. Eggman knew where to find it and the island's name.[3] The island is well-enough known to the doctor that he should've suspected a Chaos Emerald was located around the area.[4]
