Sonic the Hedgehog Skins was a mobile app developed and published by Big Blue Bubble, Inc. on 22 June 2012 for iOS in North America. It was used for customizing the lock and home screens of iOS devices with over forty assorted Sonic-themed wallpapers that can be purchased within the app.[1]

Sonic the Hedgehog Skins was taken down from the App Store in 2013.[3]

Development

On 15 June 2012, Sonic the Hedgehog Skins was announced by Sega to release on 16 June 2012.[1] However, the app's release was delayed, and it instead launched seven days later.[1] It was initially priced at $0.99 at launch, but was later made free on 28 June 2012.[4]

Description

Sonic the Hedgehog Skins was a customization app, used for decorating the lock and home screens of iOS devices with purchasable wallpapers. The app was launched with two "Skin Packs" containing wallpapers available for $0.99 each, featuring various Sonic characters such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and more. An additional Skin Pack was released on 19 January 2013 at $0.99, and included new wallpapers based on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.[2]

Trivia

  • Contrary to the app's description claiming that all wallpapers are 100% original, they are made up of various stock 3D character artwork.
