Sonic the Hedgehog is the main protagonist that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog promotional comic published by Sega of America. He is a mysterious, anthropomorphic traveler. He burrowed into an underground lab by chance and became fast friends with the lab's mysterious scientist, Dr. Kintobor. Due to an accident, his new friend became his enemy, the evil world conquering Dr. Robotnik.
Appearance[]
Sonic the Hedgehog is an anthropomorphic erinaceus europaeus,[2] aka, a hedgehog, with a tan muzzle, a plump, round, tan belly with noodle limbs and tan arms, a mono-eye with black pupils, and triangle shaped ears on top of his head. His attire consist of white gloves, and originally, white sneakers. In the beginning, he had brown fur and prickly quills.
While training on Dr. Kintobor's experimental Supersonic Treadmill, Sonic moved so fast that he cause an explosion that transformed his brown fur to blue and sharpen his quills into a solid shape. In the process, he burned up his sneakers in which Dr. Kintobor created red, Frictionless shoes for Sonic to wear to compensate his speed.

Sonic's past prior to meeting Dr. Kintobor is unknown. He had his speed well before meeting Dr. Kintobor, proving by outmatching the super scientist's capabilities to calculate his speed. Sonic appears to have no home to speak of and had simply came across Dr. Kintobor's lab by chance. He is well-known in the area by the cognitive, non-anthropomorphic animals. At best, he seems to be a traveller who explores regions on Mobius.

Trivia[]
- Sonic was originally referred to as an "Erinaceus Europaeus"[2] by Dr. Kintobor, which is specifically the Latin taxonomical name for the European Hedgehog, though the Doctor had no idea who Sonic was. After he became Dr. Robotnik, the evil genius started mischaracterizing Sonic as a "rodent".[1]
