Sonic the Hedgehog ( is a port of the 16-bit version of ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ ) ? that was developed by Sonic the Hedgehog Backbone Entertainment and Ziggurat Interactive for use on game-compatible iPods, being available under the banner.
Devices that are compatible with the game include the fifth-generation iPod touch, iPod Classic, and third-generation iPod Nano.
The game is controlled by using the iPod's Click Wheel to move and the center button to
jump. Along with these two, holding the Play/Pause button will make Sonic crouch, though doing so for too long will put the iPod into sleep mode. Alternatively, there is a second control set-up in which the player can touch the Click Wheel to move and press down on it to jump. Pressing Menu will bring up the pause menu. Either control scheme can make the game more challenging than it originally was.
