A Sonic the Hedgehog film was intended for release in 1995, intended to be released in conjunction with the Sega Saturn.
Two concepts existed for the film. The first was one done in the style of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where a live action film would be combined with elements of a videogame world. The second was a pure live action origin story, that would center on a sixteen year old boy with the ability to turn into a blue hedgehog. Neither concept got off the ground.[1]
