Trivia[]

  • The recipes' names contain several references to previous Sonic products:
    • There are several meals named after chili dogs, the favorite food of Sonic himself.
    • The snack "Eat Red Spheres" seems to be a twist on the iconic "Get Blue Spheres" quote that pops up at the beginning of a Special Stage in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
    • The snack "Tornado Chips" is most likely a reference to the Tornado.
    • The snack "Poppin' Eggcorn", the sandwich "Perfect Eggdog", and the entrรฉe "Eggs-quisite Lunch" are all references to the edible items with similar names that were sold at the Eggman-themed Eggshop in Sonic Unleashed. Likewise, the dessert "Sundae Supreme" is a reference to the edible item of the same name that also appeared in that game, while the "Villain Sub" appears during a cutscene, being consumed by Eggman.
    • The "Soleanna Princess Special" is a callback to Soleanna, a major location in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). It is named after the city-state's current sovereign, Princess Elise the Third, who also appeared in that game.
    • The "Leaf Swirl Salad" is a reference to the Leaf Swirl, a move for Espio that appeared in Sonic Heroes.
    • The "West Side Island Sandwich" references West Side Island, a recurrent location that was Tails' birthplace and the main setting of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
    • The "Adabat Griller" is a callback to Adabat, one of the major locations in Sonic Unleashed.
    • The "Master Meal Plan" is a reference to the lyrics "I've got the master plan" from "E.G.G.M.A.N.", Dr. Eggman's theme song in Sonic Adventure 2.
    • One of the desserts is Mint Candy, which is Tails' favorite food.
      • Tails also mentions that "Just one [Mint Candy] and I feel like I could fly forever.", referencing how the Mint Candies in Tails' Skypatrol fully refill his flight gauge when collected.
    • There is a dessert called "My Sweet Passion", a reference to Amy Rose's theme song of the same name in Sonic Adventure.
    • One of the desserts featured is called "Evil Cookies", a reference to the food of the same name that originally appeared in the Sonic Boom television series.
    • The beverage "Pure Hydrocity" is a reference to Hydrocity Zone, the second Zone of Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
    • The "Piko Piko Slammer" beverage references the Piko Piko Hammer, Amy's personal weapon.
    • There is a beverage called "Diamonds in the Sky", likely a reference to the Sonic R song with a similar name.
    • The โ€œPerfect Chili Dogโ€ could be construed as the second Sonic the Hedgehog-related recipe for chili dogs created. The first being โ€œChili Dogs A La Sonicโ€, which was featured in a comic.
    • Silver's commentary on the beverages introduction page makes note of how he's partial to fruit drinks and how the reader can choose any drink in the book but tells them to keep in mind that 'it's no juice' - a pun on his infamous 'It's no use' catchphrase from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
  • Amy makes several dishes from the book in Sonic the Hedgehog: Winter Jam.
  • Tangle and Whisper from the IDW Publishing comics have two recipes each: "Vim 'N' Vigor", "Post-Adventure Prize", "Simple Pleasures" and "Colorful Companions".
    • The "Vim 'N' Vigor" smoothie is made from strawberries, Tangle's favorite fruit while the "Simple Pleasures" muffins could be a reference to the poundcakes that Whisper likes.
