Official solicitation[]
- It was a dark and stormy night. Harsh rain from an unnatural storm fell upon Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles “Tails” Prower as they flew above the sea in the Tornado. Lightning strikes, causing the plane to spiral downward into a crash landing on an uncharted island. What Sonic and Tails will soon learn is that the island is no island at all, but the floating remains of the Death Egg. Scrapped, rusted, and malfunctioning Badniks call this place home. Can the friends survive isolation on an island of robots programmed to destroy them?[1]

Synopsis[]
Sonic and Tails are traveling across the ocean with the Tornado in the midst of a storm. Noting that is unlike any storm they have encountered before, Tails states that they need to find someplace to land before the plane is ripped apart. Sonic soon spots the wrecked remains of a Death Egg resting on a large piece of land. Though the duo do not understand why it is there, Tails says that they can land there to take a break from the storm. However, the Tornado is struck by lightning, making Tails lose control of the plane. Due to this, the Tornado hurtles downward.
Much later, Sonic wakes up with a headache and finds himself in a room full of broken Badniks. The hedgehog calls out for Tails or anyone else, getting off the table he was resting on. However, as he lands down, he finds that he has injured his ankle and yells out in pain. He also discovers a metallic brace on his shoe but does not know who put it there. On another table, Sonic finds Tails' Miles Electric, thinking that it was out of character for the fox to leave it on its own. Leaving the room, Sonic continues to call out for Tails, unaware of the Badniks that started to move after him. Using the Miles Electric's flashlight to navigate his way around the Death Egg, Sonic cannot believe that it used to be Eggman's most powerful weapon and was not reduced to a dump. The hedgehog deduces that he must have blacked out after the crash. Sonic limps onward and continues to call for Tails, unaware of a robot using a Red Eye to watch him.
In one room, Sonic finds a glowing sunflower in a Containment Bubble and attempts to touch it, only to be alerted of a noise in another room. As the hedgehog leaves to check it out, a glowing eye appears from the shadows. In another room, Sonic finds the wrecked remains of the Egg Carrier. Hearing a screech behind him, Sonic asks to see who is there. He finds that it is a damaged Coconuts and greets it. However, the Badnik emerges from its corner to reveal its Caterkiller body and crawls toward Sonic. Several other Badnik amalgamations emerge and surround Sonic. The hedgehog begins to believe that he never did wake up from the crash and he was having a crazy nightmare. He bumps into something and looks up to find Mecha Sonic. With the appearance of his old adversary making the novelty of the area wear off, Sonic prepares to fight the robot, only to be alerted by the pain in his ankle once again. Realizing he cannot fight like this, Sonic uses a Spin Attack to duck out of the group and tries to run off. However, due to his injured ankle, he is forcibly slowed down and the robots pursue him with ease. Sonic plots to find Tails and get out of the Death Egg as quickly as possible.
Mecha Sonic tracks Sonic to a room and looks all around for him but to no avail; the hedgehog has actually hidden inside a Capsule Seeing how embarrassing the situation could look, Sonic finds himself glad that Knuckles is not there to see him. He is suddenly interrupted when Mecha Sonic appears at the Capsule's window and opens it. Sonic uses the door of the Capsule as a board and rides away from Mecha Sonic, taunting him. As he continues to taunt the robot, he is oblivious to another robot up ahead. Due to this, it swipes him off of his board. Sonic looks up to see an E-100 Series robot looking down at him. From around the same corner, Tails appears and greets Sonic. More Badniks come out and gather around the pair, causing Sonic to put his guard up. However, Tails tells Sonic that the robots are actually friendly. He explains that the "Scrapniks" helped drag Sonic inside the Death Egg after they crashed, and built the metallic brace for him. The E-100 robot introduces himself as E-117 Sigma; it explains that Sonic was placed under observation due to the ankle injury he sustained, and guesses that Sonic's lack of knowledge about the situation raised his stress levels. Sigma says that their intention was not to frighten Sonic and apologizes for their behavior, which Sonic accepts.
Sigma leads Sonic, Tails, and Mecha Sonic to the surface as it guesses that the storm would be over by now. It asks for forgiveness for the crashing of their plane as it was their fault; the Death Egg's climate disruptor was malfunctioning and Sigma has been unable to fully repair it. The attempts to fully decommission it has also ended in failure. With this, Sigma says that they can make their home their own until the Tornado is fixed and introduces them to Scrapnik Island, a civilization made from recycled machines and spare parts. Tails shows excitement over the whole area and follows Sigma to be shown more around the place. Sonic finds Tails' excitement amusing and shoots Mecha Sonic an unimpressed glare. He walks off to catch up with Sigma and Tails as Mecha Sonic watches. As he does so, he short circuits and his eyes begin to glow red instead. Mecha Sonic manages to shake this off, and as he wonders what happened, he shakes his fist. The robot leaves to follow the others, unaware that Mecha Knuckles was observing them from a distance.
