Synopsis[]
Doctor Robotnik is imprisoned in Sonic's Secret Underground Base following his capture by Sonic and Tails. It's Porker Lewis' turn to question Robotnik about his latest generation of Badniks, but the hapless pig is thoroughly intimidated by the evil dictator.
Suddenly, the ground shakes, and Knuckles the Echidna bursts up through the floor to rescue Robotnik, still believing Sonic to be the true villain. Sonic rushes to find out what's going on, only to find that Robotnik has taken Porker as a hostage. Robotnik demands to be given the Chaos Emeralds, and despite Porker's attempts to play the hero, Sonic has them brought out in their special refrigerated box.
Before leaving, Robotnik reveals that Knuckles was able to locate Sonic's base by means of a homing device in Robotnik's tooth and an implant in Knuckles' skull. They manage to fly off in an egg-shaped escape pod, with Sonic and Tails pursuing in the Tornado. Inside, Robotnik glorifies in having finally acquired the Emeralds, but quickly changes his tune and assures Knuckles that he'll let them stay on the Floating Island. Sonic strikes the pod from outside with a Spin Attack and it crashes back on the Floating Island. But when Sonic goes to investigate, Knuckles smashes out of it. Sonic's got in his way for the last time!
