Synopsis[]
A mysterious traveller known as the Mysterious Traveller (got that?) arrives in the Emerald Hill Zone with a gift for Sonic: a monitor that will give him "mega-coolness beyond belief" if Sonic jumps into it. Sonic doesn't buy it for a moment, and accuses the Traveller of being an agent of Doctor Robotnik. Unfortunately, Tails does believe the story and jumps into the monitor... only to find himself transported to one of the darkest and deadliest zones on Mobius, the Misery Zone! He is forced to flee from the Zone's monstrous inhabitants.
Meanwhile, an invincible demon has been transported to the Emerald Hill Zone. The Traveller is indeed an agent of Robotnik, and the monitor was in fact an Inter-Zone Exchanger. The Traveller directs the demon to use its Polluto-Breath to destroy the zone. Although Sonic can knock the demon back with his Spin Attacks, he finds himself unable to beat it. Luckily he figures out the solution: he can send the monster back where it came from by using the Traveller's own monitor! In desperation, the Mysterious Traveller orders the creature to use its devastating Apocalypse Blast to destroy everything. It does so, but too late - by then, it is back in the Misery Zone, and it obliterates its own home, and itself along with it.
At the same time, Tails is returned to the Emerald Hill Zone. He is grateful, until Sonic claims that he did it to rescue the Zone and that saving Tails was completely incidental. The Mysterious Traveller flees, but Sonic is happy to let him go, knowing that Robotnik will surely punish him for failing. "They'll never learn," says Sonic. "The only really unbeatable guy around here is me!"

- Art: Anthony Williams / Brian Williamson
- Lettering: Tom Frame
The Midway Monsters (Bones Jackson captain) chase K.T. Slayer to recover the head of their coach, Coach Brikka. (Zalgor Prigg wants to use Brikka's tactical genius in his team of invincible battle droids.) Bones Jackson is blocked by his rival teams, but saved by rival the Razor Kid, who bet heavily on the Monsters and doesn't want to lose. Bones calls a timeout. (At this point there are 89 confirmed kills during the game.) In discussion with his team, Bones says that he and a small group of others (including Brikka's beautiful daughter Brenda and the Razor Kid) will chase the coach while the others "lay down their lives in a futile effort to buy us time". And then the Razor Kid wheels out a tank.

Synopsis[]
Sonic tests a new invention of Porker Lewis' to destroy Badniks in the Green Hill Zone. It's supposed to reprogramme them into "niceniks", but as far as Sonic can tell it just turns them into scrap. He runs off, and a hidden Trooper makes a call to B.A.R.F. (Badnik Army Repair Functionaries), asking for a repair squad. Cam 'n' Bert, search and repair operatives, are immediately on the case.
They're soon able to fix the broken robots, but Cam discovers that they've been infected with a nicenik computer virus. She sighs and claims it will take ages to reprogramme the bad behaviour back into the robots, but eventually they are happy enough to let the Badniks go back on patroll.
A Trooper approaches the pair, saying that two of the robots are missing. Cam is furious that the Trooper let two of them escape after the blue hedgehog turned them into niceniks. She says that Robotnik will scrap the Trooper for this failure. Bert has a better idea: scrap the Trooper themselves and save Robotnik the trouble!
