- Script: Nigel Kitching
- Art: Ferran Rodriguez
- Lettering: Ellie de'Ville
Synopsis[]
Sonic and Tails arrive at Hill Top Zone in the Tornado after a quick battle with some Turtloids. They have been called by the local tribesmen, led by Chief Kordon, to investigate the Mountain of Destiny, a volcano which has started releasing smoke. They believe the gods are angry, and although Sonic doesn't believe in that superstition, he agrees to check it out.
While Sonic and Tails descend into the volcano by cable-car, they are attacked by a Rexon Badnik and are sent plummeting towards the lava. Tails grabs onto Sonic but isn't strong enough to get them both to safety. It looks as though Sonic is done for, until he transforms into Super Sonic! Super Sonic destroys the Rexon, while Tails discovers a cave containing the cause of the volcano's activity: a giant machine built by Doctor Robotnik called a Seismatron. Robotnik himself appears on a video screen, saying that Sonic has fallen into another of his traps, and will die when the volcano erupts in just three seconds! Super Sonic immediately flies out of the volcano, with Tails clinging to his leg.
They escape with moments to spare, as molten lava shoots into the sky. Super Sonic is quite willing to let the Hill Top people die, and intends to kill Tails too. But Tails claims that Super Sonic simply can't do anything to stop the eruption, which the hedgehog takes as a challenge. Flying around the spout of lava at super speeds, he cools it down and sends up clouds of dust. When it clears, Sonic is back to his cool blue self. He has carved a huge statue of himself out of the cooling rock, to which he exclaims "Now these people have really got something to admire!"
