Synopsis[]
While playing football in the Emerald Hill Zone, Tails finds a monitor, in which Sonic seems to be trapped and asks to be let out. Tails obliges, discovering too late that it isn't Sonic at all, but an evil double. The double relishes his new-found freedom, causing mayhem throughout the Emerald Hill Zone, even destroying the new secret hideout that the Emerald Hill Folk are building to hide from Doctor Robotnik. When Sonic arrives, everyone blames him - Sally even wants him banished from the Zone - until the double returns and they see Sonic and the double together, fighting it out. It is revealed that the double is an "Extra Life", created by Doctor Ovi Kintobor (before he turned evil) as a helping hand for Sonic, and that he has been trapped in the box for years. It seems as though the double is going to beat Sonic, until Tails reappears with the box and traps the Extra Life in it again. With a Super-Sonic Kick, Sonic sends the box into space, where it can cause no more damage.

- Script: Woodrow Phoenix
- Art: Chris Webster
- Lettering: Woodrow Phoenix
A ferocious storm whips up the sea, stealing away all of its dolphins save one, Ecco, who is determined to find out where his family has gone. Suddenly, he is attacked by ripteeth (sharks). He fends them off, striking them in the side with his bottlenose, but is outnumbered and sure to be torn apart until he is rescued by an orca. The orca claims that it found a jewel (a Glyph) which showed him Ecco's face. Ecco follows the orca to the Glyph, which says it will send him back through time, to the days of the pre-fish, where he will find his answers...
The Legend of the Golden Axe - "Plague of Serpents, Part 1"[]
- Script: Mark Eyles
- Art: Mike White
- Lettering: Ellie de Ville
On the way to return the Golden Axe to the Kingdom of Yuria, Ax-Battler, Tyris-Flare and Gilius-Thunderhead visit the dwarfish stronghold of Rockguard (Gilius' home). Outside, they encounter a giant snake, which Tyris easily kills with the Golden Axe. However, Gilius becomes concerned and rushes towards Rockguard. More snakes and dead dwarfs litter the ground outside. Inside is even worse: snake cultists led by High Priest Cobraxis and dwarfs are engaged in a deadly melee. Many of the dwarfs have been hypnotized, and now wear snakes around their necks that control their movements!
The three heroes leap into the fray. Gilius sees his father stabbed in the neck by a cobra cultist, and vows to end the fight with his thunder magic. Meanwhile, Ax-Battler is hypnotized by a snake which is decapitated a moment too late. Tyris fends off two possessed dwarfs, trying not to hurt them, while a cultist sneaks up behind her, weapon ready...
Decap Attack - "Starring Chuck D. Head! Part 4"[]
- Script: Nigel Kitching
- Art: Nigel Kitching
- Lettering: Steve Potter
Max D. Cap's army of the undead is behind schedule (and over-budget, as his accountant Rupert points out) and he wants to know why, forcing Prof Frank N. Stein to admit that his creation of Chuck D. Head may have been a complete fluke. Nevertheless, Prof is convinced he could clone an army if Chuck was there. Luckily, Max has already sent minions to retrieve him, because Chuck has been walking around the dungeon for five days trying to find his way upstairs.
Meanwhile Chuck (two hearts left out of three) and Head are lost, although they have managed to find a bomb and a book of matches since last issue. Attacked by Croc and Bullhead (Max's minions), Chuck hastily throws the bomb... only to find that he has accidentally thrown Head instead, and that the bomb is still on his shoulders. Until it explodes. One heart left.
