Sonic and the Black Knight (ソニックと暗黒の騎士, Sonikku to Ankoku no Kishi^?) is a manga written and illustrated by Makoto Hirono that was published by ASCII Media Works in their Japanese gaming magazine, Dengeki Nintendo DS. It is based on the video game of the same name. The first chapter of the Sonic and the Black Knight arc, which is chapter 9 of the overall Sonic the Hedgehog manga, was released on 12 March 2009, the same day that the game released in Japan.

It was preceded by Sonic World Adventure and followed by Sonic Chronicles.

Synopsis

Sonic attacking King Arthur.

In the beginning of the story, Merlina is being chased by King Arthur. Arthur traps Merlina with a whole bunch of demons he summoned. Merlina, knowing she is trapped for good, summons Sonic from his world to save her. Sonic, knowing how to defeat enemies, defeats the demons and counters King Arthur. He goes up to him, but Merlina pulls him back and transports Sonic and herself away.

Later, at Misty Lake, Merlina and Sonic find a sword in a stone. Sonic pulls it up and it turns out to be Caliburn, a talking sword. Suddenly, King Arthur appears and Sonic goes up to him for a duel.
