The Sonic Shot, also referred to as the Spin Dash Blast, is a Master Weapon used by Mega Man in the Mega Man and the Sonic the Hedgehog comic crossover event, Worlds Collide. Made by Tails by modifying Mega Man's Mega Buster, the Sonic Shot can reverse Roboticization.

Description

The Sonic Shot is essentially a charged shot from Mega Man's Mega Buster, modified to give off the unique energy signature of Sonic's Spin Dash. By combining these two forces, each of which caused the Roboticized Masters to malfunction, the Sonic Shot has the ability to revert the roboticization process of the Roboticized Master, thus making them return to their original Mobian selves, and as well separate the Master Weapon they wielded as a Roboticized Master in the form of an orb. When shooting the Sonic Shot, Mega Man shoots a charged shot in the form of a Spin Dash from his Mega Buster.

As demonstrated during Super Sonic and Super Armor Mega Man's battle with the Chaos Emerald-charged Egg-Wily Machine X, the Sonic Shot can also be used as an offensive attack. When used in this manner, Super Sonic enters a Spin Dash in the socket of Super Armor Mega Man's Mega Buster, while Super Armor Mega Man charges up large amounts of energy into Super Sonic. Once charged, Super Armor Mega Man shoots Super Sonic as a large energy blast-enveloped projectile with enough power to completely obliterate the Egg-Wily Machine X.

History

While fighting Charmy Man, Espio Man and Vector Man, Mega Man suggested that he and Sonic could try and attack them with their charged shot and Spin Dash respectively, to revert the Roboticized Masters back to normal. Sonic, however, came up with an easier solution, and had Tails modify the charged shot of Mega Man's Mega Buster to match the properties of his Spin Dash, dubbing it the "Sonic Shot", so that Mega Man could turn his friends back to normal without needing Sonic there to do it. Though Sonic was nearly killed while distracting the Roboticized Masters so that Tails could prepare the Sonic Shot, Mega Man received the Sonic Shot just in time to save Sonic, and together, the two heroes managed to revert Charmy Man, Espio Man and Vector Man back to normal with the Sonic Shot.[1] Mega Man would then go on to use the shot on all of the other Roboticized Masters.[2][3][4]

Trivia

  • The Sonic Shot is the only Master Weapon themed after a Sonic character to not be from a Roboticized Master.
