This is a script of the cutscenes from Metal Sonic's storyline in Sonic Rivals 2.
Blue Coast Zone
Intro
- Shadow: Who's there? I know there's somebody here, so show yourself!
- Dr. Eggman (transmission via Metal Sonic): Long time, no see, Shadow. I've been looking for you.
- Shadow: Metal Sonic! And that voice... it's you, Doctor!
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Indeed. I've had my little metal friend hunt you down because I need your help, Shadow.
- Shadow: Hmph. And why should I help you?
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Because if you don't, this world will be destroyed!
- Shadow: What do you mean?
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Look over there. It's Espio and... Silver! Shadow, there's no time for me to explain. Take Metal Sonic with you and go after them!
- Shadow: Hmph. Fine. But once I stop them, you're telling me what you know. Metal Sonic, go after Espio. I'll find Silver.
Act 1
- Espio: Phew... That was a close call.
- Metal Sonic: <Display> Target Acquired.
- Espio: Metal Sonic? So... does that mean Eggman is involved with this, too? I don't have time to waste dealing with you... I need to find Silver!
- Metal Sonic: <Display> Target Escaping. <Order> Pursue Target!
Act 2
- Metal Sonic: <Display> Target Pursued Complete.
- Espio: Hmm... If I can't shake you, I guess I'll just have to knock you out.
- Metal Sonic: <Order> Commence Battle Mode!
Act 3
- Silver: You're... Shadow! What do you want with me?
- Shadow: I'll ask the questions. Why are you here and what're you up to?
- Silver: Ha! Don't worry... It has nothing to do with you. Just don't get in my way.
- Shadow: Hmph... I don't think so!
Boss
- Dr. Eggman: Ho ho ho ho! Well, if it isn't Metal Sonic and my dear friend Shadow.
- Shadow: Doctor! What are you doing here?
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Shadow, don't be fooled! That's not me! It's Eggman Nega!
- Dr. Eggman Nega: Ku ku! Well, if it isn't my blockheaded doppelganger. Are you stuck inside your machine?
- Shadow: So, you must be the one behind all this!
- Silver: Step aside, Shadow! He's mine!
- Dr. Eggman Nega: Well, since you're all here, my little contraption will chew up and then have seconds! Hee hee hee hee!
Sunset Forest Zone
Intro
- Shadow: Eggman Nega escaped into the woods. Metal Sonic, are you okay?
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Shadow: I'll take that as a "Yes." I wonder what Eggman Nega is up to...
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Sorry, Shadow. There was some interference, so I couldn't communicate earlier. Eggman Nega needs the Chaos Emeralds for his ultimate plan. You must get them before he does.
- Shadow: But what exactly IS his ultimate plan?
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Shadow: Hmph... I wonder if the radio signal works in the jungle... Metal Sonic, look! It's Rouge and Knuckles. We've got to beat them to the Emeralds. Metal Sonic, you follow Rouge and I'll go after Knuckles.
Act 1
- Rouge: What a "knuckle-head"... Running off all by himself... Wha? You're... Metal Sonic!
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Rouge: Hey, what are you doing? Stop stalking me!
- Metal Sonic: ...
Act 2
- Rouge: Hmph! Aren't you a little pest!
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Rouge: You again? Well, since you're here, we might as well have a little fun... Tag. You're it!
Act 3
- Knuckles: Shadow?!
- Shadow: What are you doing here in the forest?
- Knuckles: The Master Emerald is missing and I'm looking for it.
- Shadow: It's going to be tough to find it here.
- Knuckles: That's why we're going to use Eggman's Emerald Detector.
- Shadow: Emerald Detector, huh? Hmph. Sorry, but we can't let you two get the Emeralds.
- Knuckles: You think you can stop me? I'd like to see you try it, Shadow!
Boss
- Dr. Eggman: Hoh ho ho ho! Now, what do we have here? A little forest expedition?
- Shadow: Is that the Doctor? Metal Sonic, which one of those eggheads is that?
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Shadow: Come on, not again!
- Knuckles: Hand it over, Eggman. I'm losing my patience!
- Dr. Eggman: If that's the way you feel, why not test your "patience" against my latest invention?
- Shadow: Could it be him? Come on, Metal Sonic! We've got to beat them to it!
Neon Palace Zone
Intro
- Shadow: Okay, we should be able to receive a signal here. I need to get in touch with Eggman right away!
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Shadow? Can you hear me?
- Shadow: I hear you, Doctor. Now, tell--
- Sonic: Shadow? What are you doing here?
- Shadow: Agh... Not now. Sorry, no time to talk... Come on, Metal Sonic.
- Sonic: Metal Sonic!?
Act 1
- Dr. Eggman: Metal Sonic, I need you to run interference for Shadow. Go after Tails and Sonic!
- Metal Sonic: <Order> Acknowledged.
- Dr. Eggman: I'm counting on you!
Act 2
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Eggman Nega! Who could he have been talking to earlier? I wonder... Hmm... I wonder if he has someone else working on his side?
- Tails: Metal Sonic? What are you doing here?
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Tails: Hello? Anyone home?
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Metal Sonic, take care of Tails!
- Tails: Wha-!? That voice... it's Eggman!
Act 3
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Shadow! I'm in trouble.
- Shadow: What's wrong, Doctor?
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Eggman Nega has taken over my Badniks and they're destroying my base. I need you to destroy them to regain control.
- Shadow: Eggman Nega... Fine. Leave it to me.
Boss
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Shadow, I've learned who Eggman Nega was secretly communicating with.
- Shadow: Communicating? But with whom?
- Dr. Eggman Nega: Hee hee hee... and what are you whispering about?
- Shadow: There you are, you fake.
- Sonic: So Eggman, what are you trying to hide?
- Dr. Eggman: Nothing that concerns you, Sonic! Since you've got time on your hands, why not play with my new toy?
- Shadow: Hmph! A minor nuisance.
- Sonic: Bet we can destroy it before you can, Shadow.
- Shadow: We'll see about that.
Frontier Canyon Zone
Intro
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Now that we're here, we should be safe.
- Shadow: Very well, Doctor. Tell me what you know.
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Sorry for being so cryptic Shadow, but Eggman Nega is very sneaky. He apparently got some old files from my late grandfather, Professor Gerald. Those writings tell of an interdimensional beast called the Ifrit, and Eggman Nega wants to release it! The key to opening the portal to the Ifrit's dimension is the seven Chaos Emeralds. You must stop him.
- Shadow: So, if he gets all seven Emeralds, then the portal will open and the beast can get through. Rouge is collecting the Chaos Emeralds, right? How many do she and Knuckles have?
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Shadow! They're coming!
- Shadow: Okay. Leave it to us. Metal Sonic, keep Knuckles occupied by collecting Rings. I'll talk to Rouge.
Act 1
- Knuckles: Metal Sonic! What are you doing here?
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Knuckles: Fine, don't say anything. If you've come for the Master Emerald, you're out of luck.
- Dr. Eggman: ... Head over to the...
- Knuckles: Huh?! Who is that? Eggman?
- Dr. Eggman: ...bad transmission... grave danger...
- Knuckles: Grave danger? Wait, Metal Sonic. Where are you going?
Act 2
- Knuckles: Looks like I lost him. Well, I better collect some more Rings for this detector. What the...?
- Metal Sonic: <Order> New Target... Rings.
- Knuckles: Looks like Metal Sonic's trying to collect Rings, too! I've got to beat him!
Act 3
- Rouge: Well, well, well. If it isn't Shadow.
- Shadow: Hey, Rouge. I hear you've collected some Chaos Emeralds with that handy contraption of yours.
- Rouge: Good news travels fast.
- Shadow: I can't tell you why, but I need to know how many you've found. It's really important.
- Rouge: If it's so important, maybe you should let me in on the secret. You can trust me. Really.
- Shadow: ...Fine. The truth is, someone is trying the unleash the Ifrit into our world from another dimension. The key to opening the portal to that other dimension is the seven Chaos Emeralds.
- Rouge: I see. Well, I'm certain the person that hired me to collect the Emeralds will protect them.
- Shadow: Who hired you?
- Rouge: That's strictly confidential.
- Shadow: Come back here!
Boss
- Shadow: Rouge has already tracked down a number of the Emeralds, thanks to her Emerald Detector. But she said that she'd been hired by someone...
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): What? Shadow, is that true? It must be Eggman Nega! He's the one who's using Rouge to gather the Emeralds!
- Dr. Eggman Nega: Hee hee hee.... You now know too much....
- Knuckles: Eggman! I knew you were wrapped up in all of this!
- Shadow: Out of my way, you two! He's mine!
- Knuckles: Shadow? Now what's your problem?!
Mystic Haunt Zone
Intro
- Shadow: Doctor, Rouge is in possession of six of the Chaos Emeralds, and she just went toward the mansion.
- Dr. Eggman (transmission): Shadow, if you get too close to the mansion, the signal will break up... I'll... head there from here too... You get the Emeralds...
- Shadow: There's something not right about this place. I don't like it one bit.
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Shadow: Rouge must've gone in to find the last Chaos Emerald. Metal Sonic, intercept Knuckles and Rouge while I go after the Emerald.
- Metal Sonic: ...
Act 1
- Silver: There must be a secret room somewhere. But where is it? Agh! Whoa!
- Metal Sonic: <Display> Confirming Visual... ... ... Silver!
- Silver: Hey! You're that metal hedgehog that was with Shadow before...
- Metal Sonic: <Display> - Intercept Knuckles; Intercept Rouge - Override - Stop Silver
- Silver: Oh! So, you want to fight is that it?
Act 2
- Metal Sonic: <Display> Target Acquired.
- Knuckles: Hm? Metal Sonic! You're Eggman's creation, aren't you?
- Metal Sonic: <Display> Eliminate Target!
- Knuckles: Perfect! I'll smash you up good, and you'll lead me right back to your master!
Act 3
- Shadow: I've got to get to the Chaos Emerald before Rouge. No time to waste. I better get through here fast!
Boss
- Dr. Eggman: Hey, Shadow. I've been waiting for you.
- Shadow: Eggman, Knuckles and Rouge are following me. They'll be here soon. with six Chaos Emeralds. We'll go in search of the remaining Emerald. I'll leave the rest to you.
- Dr. Eggman: Well done, Shadow. I'll handle the rest. Those Chaos Emeralds are as good as mine.
- Knuckles: Shadow and Eggman, finally! Tell me where the Master Emerald is, now!
- Dr. Eggman: Hee hee hee hee...uh, I have no Emerald for you!
- Shadow: That laugh... it can't be!
- Silver: I finally found you! Party's over!
- Dr. Eggman Nega: Heh! Silver... you're too late!
- Shadow: You're Eggman Nega! You tricked me! Now you'll pay for it!
Chaotic Inferno Zone
Intro
- Dr. Eggman Nega: No... with just one more Chaos Emerald, I could have opened the portal, but... What? Why is the portal opening?
- Shadow: What? But you only have six of the Emeralds!
- Dr. Eggman Nega: Hee hee hee... Guess luck IS on my side. Come forth, Metal Sonic version 3.0! Proceed through the portal and awaken the Ifrit!
- Shadow: No!
- Dr. Eggman: Shadow! It's too soon to give up!
- Shadow: Doctor?!
- Dr. Eggman: According to my grandfather's research, there's a switch to close the portal from inside! Shadow, you have to hurry! Close it before the Ifrit awakens!
- Shadow: Understood, Doctor. Leave it to us. Come on, Metal Sonic!
Act 1
- Metal Sonic: <Order> - Find Switch <Warning> - Obstacle Approaching <Order> - Ignore and Continue
Act 2
- Metal Sonic: <Display> - Obstacle Still Approaching <Order> - Eliminate
Act 3
- Shadow: What happened to this world? Has it already been destroyed by the Ifrit? Hmm. There's Eggman Nega's copy of Metal Sonic! I can't let him get away!
Boss
- Shadow: I found it! The switch to close the portal! Hmph. It's done. Come on, Metal Sonic. Let's get out of here before the portal closes on us.
- Metal Sonic: <Warning> Enormous Like Form Approaching! <Warning> Enormous Life Form Approaching!
- Shadow: What?! The Ifrit... it's awake?! No! If we don't get out now, the portal will close. Let's finish this quick, Metal Sonic!
Ending
- Shadow: Well, that's the last we'll see of the Ifrit. But now that the portal has closed, we have no way back to our own world.
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Shadow: If I only had a Chaos Emerald, I could use Chaos Control to warp out of here.
- Metal Sonic: (Bang! Bam! Ching!)
- Shadow: What are you doing, Metal Sonic?! You'll destroy yourself!
- Metal Sonic: [Holding a green Chaos Emerald] ...
- Shadow: A Chaos Emerald was inside you all along?! So that's why it opened!
- Metal Sonic: ...
- Shadow: Let's do it then. Time to get back to our own world. Chaos Control!
