Sonic R is a handheld LCD game released by Tiger Electronics, in 1998. The game was based on the Sega Saturn game of the same name, but only loosely resembles it.
Gameplay
The game features five levels, each of which have a ninenty second time limit. Obstacles, such as tires litter the course, so the player has to avoid them and jump over roadblocks. Accelerators occasionally appear which will speed up the character when stepped on. Completing the course in under ninenty seconds will reward Bonus points. Not completing the level within the time limit will not end the race, but cannot gain Bonus points.
Unlike the Sega Saturn version, Sonic the Hedgehog is the only playable character in this game.
