This is a set of general guidelines to follow when creating and editing mainspace articles concerning attacks and moves related to the Sonic the Hedgehog series franchise. Although this is an official guide, editors are encouraged to stray from them if it will improve the overall quality of the article.

Legend

  • Yellow boxes are general guidelines meant to pertain to the main text on the page.
  • Red boxes are guidelines for anything else.

Some main space pages regarding an attack or move may have an abundance of images and screenshots available which make render the page unnecessarily large and difficult to navigate. A separate gallery-tab page from the main attacks or move page is to be created and placed at the very top, here, if the 'Gallery' section holds sixteen or more images.
The "Infobox attack" template is to be inserted here. Information in regards to the attack or move are to be filled as much as possible with, but not limited to; debut media, other media appearances, users, utilization in regards to function and description in regards to outward execution. An image of the attack or move, or characters using the attack or move, is preferred and is to be placed inside the image field in the infobox.
Add a quote left template here. Preferably a short quote from official sources, such as a game's manual or a quote said by a character. These quotes are to have emphasis on the mechanics, experience, viewpoints, history and/or significance in regards to the attack or move.
This is the summary. The purpose of this section is to surmise the attack or move in accordance to the continuity in appears in. Information should include a very brief description of what the attack or move is, what it does and its effects.

Conception

The purpose of the conception section is to surmise the real-life origin, creation and introduction of the attack or move. Such information includes the media it first appeared in, as well as subsequent media and spin-off titles.

Description

This is the Description. The purpose of this section is to detail the execution and functionality of the attack or move. Information in regards to description should include prominent users of it, its effect(s) on the environment or targets, or requirements needed for the user to be able to perform said attack or move.

Game appearances

The purpose of the Game appearances section is to detail the appearance and functionality of the attack or move. Each subsequent related description is to be separated into paragraphs under sub-headings in relation to the name of said game it appears in. Each paragraph is to contain information similar to that in the 'Description' section above. However, they must not reuse the information taken from there under each section if that piece of information occurs in each installment. For example, if an attack or move is able to damage foes in each game it appears in, then that piece of information is only to be documented in the 'Description' section and not under each section in the 'Game appearances' section.

A list of performance instructions, such as which button/key or button/key combinations to press in order to activate or use the attack or move, should be placed under each game's sub-section.

Variants

Here, a link to the attack or move's main article between the paragraph and subheading must be place. This link must utilize the 'main' template.
The attack or move may appear in different incarnations within their respective continuities, but with similar functionality. The purpose of the variants section is to provide a brief summary of the variant of the attack or move. Each description of the variants is to be separated into paragraphs under sub-headings in relation to the name of said attack or move, with a link to the attack or move's main article between the paragraph and subheading utilizing the 'main' template.

In other media

The purpose of the In other media section is to describe the attack or move in other Sonic-related media. Each subsequent related media description is to be separated into paragraphs under sub-headings in relation to the name of said media it appears in. Each paragraph is to contain a brief set of information similar to the 'Description' section above.

Trivia

The Trivia section is about small pieces of information about the attack or move that do not fit in any of the sections above. Here, the editor must make a list of these little-known facts by using bullet points (*), where each piece of information is given its own paragraph. Please note it is required that the Trivia is informative, not lengthy and pointless.

Gallery

The gallery section is for images of the attack or move. It is recommended to be limited to insertion of significant images in relation to the attack or move. Such images should include screenshots of characters/subjects performing or undergoing said attack or move or external promotional material such as advertisement or other imagery which may feature the attack or move. It may also include parts of the attack or move, but may not be the sole focus of (eg. the cover-art of a game may feature a character performing the attack or move from it) and cameo appearances.
  • All imagery to be placed in the gallery must be from official sources only (having appeared in at least one officially released, or licensed media.)
  • Imagery of an incarnation of the attack or move must be based off of the one being portrayed in the article. Imagery of different incarnation of the attack or move should be placed on their respective pages or gallery-tab article.

References

References and citations of where each piece of information gathered from is to be placed here, utilizing the "Reflist" template.
