Sonic Lost World (ソニックロストワールド Sonikku Rosuto Wārudo?) is an upcoming video game and the next main installment in Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game is being released exclusively for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and both versions are slated for a Fall 2013 release.[1] The game is currently under development by Sonic Team and is published by Sega.

Story

Sonic is chasing after his longtime foe, Eggman, and encounters a mysterious floating island known as “Lost Hex,” where he'll run across the Deadly Six.[2]

Development

Originally, Sega registered the trademark and the web address of the game's website on May 16, 2013.[3] The game was first announced at a presentation of Nintendo Direct on May 17, 2013.[4] According to Nintendo's Satoru Iwata, it is announced that Nintendo itself has entered into a worldwide partnership with Sega regarding the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. [5]

Not much is known about the game with the exception of several teaser images. The game is also revealed to feature new enemies, friends and gameplay mechanics[6] which are quite similar to the cancelled Sonic X-treme.
