Sonic Hearts (ソニックハーツ[2],Sonikku Hātsu?) is a mobile phone game that was available in Japan through the Sonic Cafe service offered by Sega. It features a simple, card game style of play. The game was later made available in the United States and Europe through Sega Mobile[3] and in Japan through the Puyo Puyo! Sega after Sonic Cafe was shut down.[4]
This game features the player as Sonic as they play a standard game of Hearts against Sonic's friends: Tails, Knuckles and Amy. The game plays out like a normal game of Hearts, with the goal being to get rid of all cards in the player's hand to get the lowest score possible or "shoot for the moon" and get all 14 penalty cards. After four rounds, the player with the least points total is the winner.
Sonic Hearts features multiple game modes for player to explore:
Official Match (公式戦[2],Kōshikisen?): This is the main game, being accessible only once a day. The player's score can be uploaded to the leaderboards upon completion.
Training (練習[2],Renshū?): The same as the main game, just without the points or daily limit.
Rule Explanation (ルール説明[2],Rūru Setsumei?): Explains the rules of Sonic Hearts.
Ranking (ランキング[2],Rankingu?): Allows the player to view the high-score of the game on an internet leaderboard.
