This article contains a list of glitches from Sonic Colors: Ultimate. Unless otherwise noted, all glitch names are conjectural. Many of them have not been confirmed by Sega.
The most notorious glitch in Sonic Colors: Ultimate, albeit exclusive to the Switch port. it presents wildly flashing, bright colors on the screen which could possibly cause an epileptic seizure. Also included with this glitch is Sonic deforming into a "fish-like" shape at times. This can be triggered by switching hub worlds at a rapid pace, which causes data from each park to overflow into the next. This was patched out in the Day 1 Patch.
Starlight Carnival out of bounds[]
In Starlight Carnival Act 3, it is possible to access an out of bounds area beyond the Goal Ring by using a newly added section which makes use of the Jade GhostWisp. After using the Jade Wisp to access a trail of Rings, and using the Green Hover Wisp to follow a trail of Rings to an area above the Goal Ring. It is possible to Jump Dash off a falling platform and get past the invisible wall blocking the player from progressing past the Goal Ring. Sonic cannot get very far, as stage assets like Dash Panels and Springs are not present, and cannot return to the Goal Ring, due to the invisible wall being double-sided, with no way of getting back over it, so if the player accesses it by accident, they will have to restart the Act.
Starlight Carnival 3D in 2D[]
This glitch can be found in Starlight Carnival Act 6. When near the top of the Act and approaching the end, if the player falls into the bottomless pit underneath the Act, a Tails Save will bring the player back to the area they fell from. However, Sonic will not be locked into 2D movement anymore, and can move fully in 3D in what is meant to be a 2.5D section. Even when using the Green Hover, the player will still have full 3D movement, which in certain instances can lead to camera glitches as well. The only way to fix the glitch is to restart the Act.
