[The game starts with a cold open before the journey begins. A pitch black screen, displaying text.]
Prof. Gerald Robotnik: One thing remains a certainty: At the height of their glory, they could not have foreseen their fate, or the speed with which it was delivered. 'THE FOURTH GREAT CIVILIZATION'
Opening[]
NARRATION: Sometime ago...
[The panel opens with a dry canyon. The narration reveals the location of the area being Metropolis, Eggman's Headquarters. As the camera moves through the canyon, a futuristic jet comes into frame, it starts to jet towards the orange-tinted city of Metropolis. The camera quickly zooms in on the ship, revealing it's logo "GUN". The panel splits off into two. The panel on the right pans across the city, showcasing three more panels layered ontop of it, with multiple G.U.N. jets dashing ahead. The panel on the left displays a new variation of the Egg Carrier being attacked. The jets crash towards the ship. One jet locks onto the ship, and another crashes into the ship. The jet that crashed into the ship reveals Sonic the Hedgehog leaping ahead.]
Sonic: Quick, guys! Get him!
[Sonic jumps towards Doctor Eggman, and the next panel showcases a wide view of the scene, revealing the rest of our heroes heading towards the scene; Knuckles the Echidna gliding towards the mad doctor, Amy Rose also jogging to him, and the genius fox Miles "Tails" Prower holding a lever in the ship.]
Knuckles: He's mine!
Tails: Watch out!
[Amy points ahead.]
Amy: Let's get him!
[Eggman gets into a defensive stance.]
Eggman: Ha ha ha ha ha! You may have damaged my new Egg Carrier, Sonic, but you'll never defeat me!
[Sonic moves both of his hands onto a counter. His expression remains neutral. He shifts his attention towards Tails.]
Sonic: We'll see about that, Eggman! ... Tails! How's it coming?
Eggman: ?
[Despite his subtle expression and obscured mouth, Eggman's expression shifts to him being more confused. Tails runs up to a panel displaying five buttons, with their default color being red, but it alarming with a growing bright yellow fluctuating.]
Tails: Almost there, Sonic!
[Tails slams his hand down, grabbing multiple wires. We cut outside the ship, seeing the Egg Carrier instantly explode. The ship's head flies off and the carrier crashes down towards the city. The G.U.N. jets start to fly away after landing some last few blasts. Upon impact from crashing into the city, the Egg Carrier and by extension, the city explodes. We see in the distance a plane. The next panel zooms in on the plane, revealing the heroes had escaped through the Tornado.]
[The scene changes to pan through birds soaring through the clouds. The clouds dispatch, and the overhead shot reveals a blue bur dashing through grassy plains. The next panel showcases the blue blur, Sonic, making his way through obstacles in a forest, and then jumping down towards a more deserted area.
NARRATION: Present day, ...the other side of the world.
[On a communicator Sonic is wearing on his wrist, he gets a call from Tails.]
Tails: Tails calling Sonic! Come in, Sonic!
Chapter 1: Hostile Reception[]

Opening Event[]
Tails: Sonic, you made it! I'm so glad to hear from you!
Sonic: I'm here, Tails. What's going on?
Tails: We're in big trouble, Sonic. I don't know if you've heard, but Knuckles has gone missing. And so have the Chaos Emeralds!
Tails: A group of criminals called the Marauders took him. Please, Sonic! We need your help!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Of course I'll help!
Sonic (OPTION A): Don't you know anything about what happened?
Sonic (OPTION B): Why would they take the Chaos Emeralds?
Tails (DEFAULT RESPONSE): I knew you would! I knew it!
Tails (OPTION A RESPONSE): Knuckles was fighting against the Marauders when he disappeared. We're not really sure who they are, but they're big trouble!
Sonic (OPTION A RESPONSE CONTINUED): Right. Let's go!
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE): The Chaos Emeralds are powerful gems, Sonic. Someone who knows how to use them could do just about anything with their power! Remember when you had all seven Chaos Emeralds? You used their power to become Super Sonic! You were pretty much unbeatable!
Sonic (OPTION B CONTINUED RESPONSE): I remember. Good times.
Tails: Amy Rose is on her way to meet you. Once you find her, meet me at my workshop near Central City.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Sounds like a plan. I'll be there in no time!
Sonic (OPTION A): Amy? Ugh! Why do I need to meet up with her?
Tails (DEFAULT RESPONSE): Great! Thanks, Sonic. With you on the team, I know we'll save Knuckles!
Tails (OPTION A RESPONSE): Well, you know how she is. She wanted to meet you halfway and make sure you got here safely. I'll wait for you in the workshop. With you on the team, I know we'll save Knuckles!
Tails: Let's go!
Side Mission: The Tired Old Woodsman[]
[Sonic starts heading towards the workshop. Along the way he encounters others. Including a tired old man.]
CIVILLIAN: I must... keep... working...
CIVILLIAN: Oh! Hey! You're Sonic the Hedgehog!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): You look like you could use some help.
Sonic (OPTION EXCLAIMED): That's me!
Sonic (OPTION B): What are you working on out here?
CIVILLIAN (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): I'm so glad you showed up. I've been chopping away at these logs for hours now, and I'm not even close to done.
But I'm so tired, Sonic. I wish someone would help me. Even if just a little.
CIVILIAN (OPTION EXCLAIMED RESPONSE): I'm so glad you showed up. I've been chopping away at these logs for hours now, and I'm not even close to done.
CIVILLIAN (OPTION B RESPONSE): Oh, I won't burden you with that, Sonic. I'm just an old man trying to chop some logs. But I'm so tired, Sonic. I wish someone would help me. Even if just a little.
Sonic (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED DEFAULT RESPONSE): What do I need to do?
Sonic (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED UNENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSE): I have important things to do!
CIVILLIAN (OPTION B RESPONSE DEFAULT CONTINUED): Oh, it's easy! Just go to the woodpile, and when the action bubble appears, touch it or press the L button or the R button to chop the wood! The wood is just right there. Thank you so much!
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED UNENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSE): We have time to do this, Sonic. Let's help him!
CIVILLIAN: The wood is just right there. Thank you so much!
[After chopping wood.]
CIVILLIAN: Oh, you did it! Thank you so much! I won't keep you any longer.
Take this... I'm too tired for even POW Candy to help me!
Tails: Nice job, Sonic! It's always good to take a little time and help people out!
Let's get going. We have a lot of work to do!
[POW Candy added to inventory.]
Pre-Armadillo Fight[]
[Sonic gets on a raft and rides it to the larger section of Green Hill.]
Sonic: Ahh. Green Hill Zone. We’ve had some good times here, haven’t we, Tails?
Tails: Good times? Like Eggman turning our animal friends into robots and pitting them against us?
Sonic: Yep! Good times!
Tails: Well, I wouldn’t take too much time sightseeing, Sonic. We have to save Knuckles.
Sonic: Don’t worry, Tails. What could go wrong in Green Hill Zone?
[An enraged armadillo comes up to Sonic.]
Tails: Sonic! Look out! That armadillo looks angry!
Sonic: I’m on it!
After-Armadillo Fight[]
Tails: That’s strange. The animals in Green Hill Zone aren’t usually that mean! I wonder why that armadillo was so mad?
Be careful out there, Sonic!
Meeting Amy[]
[Sonic continues running down a path as a mysterious figure watches him from above. The figure throws crates down below to block Sonic's path]
Tails: Sonic! What happened?
Sonic: Someone's trying to block my way.
Tails: Why would someone do that? I’m getting a bad feeling about this, Sonic.
Sonic: Don’t worry, Tails. I’ll find a way through this.
Tails: Good luck, Sonic!
[And as if on cue, Amy runs up and smashes the crates with her Piko Piko Hammer]
Amy: Sonic! Boy, are you lucky I happened to come along!
I’m so glad to see you, Sonic! But not THAT glad. I do have a BOYFRIEND now, you know. His name is Dexter.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): We have to get to Tails, Amy. There's no time for this.
Sonic (OPTION B): How have you been, Amy?
Sonic (OPTION C): Do you know anything about what's happening?
Sonic (OPTION D): I totally could have jumped over those boxes, you know!
Amy (OPTION B RESPONSE): Amy: Oh, I’ve been just wonderful! Dexter is so sweet. He always buys me flowers, and he’s always nice to me, unlike SOME people I know. Oh yes, my Dexter.
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE): I’m not exactly sure. The animals around here are usually so cute and nice, but they attacked me on my way out here! And those falling blocks… someone pushed them over to stop you!
Amy (OPTION D RESPONSE): Well, of course you could have. But now you don’t have to!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): We don't have time to stand around and talk. Let's go!
Sonic (OPTION B): Do you anything about Knuckles?
Sonic (OPTION C): How have you been, Amy?
Amy (OPTION B RESPONSE): Tails says the Marauders got him, but no one knows who they are.
I hope he’s alright. Without him to protect the Master Emerald, we could all be in danger.
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE): Oh, I've been just wonderful! Dexter is so sweet. He always buys me flowers, and he is always nice to me, unlike SOME people I know.
Oh yes, my Dexter.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): That's quite enough of that. Let's go find Tails.
Sonic (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): When can I meet this "Dexter"?
Amy (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): Oh, he doesn't live around here. And he's very busy, you see. So I'm not sure when he could meet you.
I'll let him know you want to meet him, though! I'm sure he'll squeeze you in somehow!
Sonic (OPTION C RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): Well, good for you, Amy.
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): What?! Good for me?! I thought you'd at least be a little jealous, after all we had together!
Well, that's just fine. What do I care? I have a boyfriend now!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): We're wasting time! Let's just go find Tails!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then let's stop wasting time here!
Amy (DEFAULT RESPONSE): Ugh! Why are you being like that? I just saved you!
Sonic: What are you talking about?
Tails: Sonic, you move a lot faster than the rest of us do, so it makes sense that you might be a little impatient, even when talking to people.
The first response in your list, with the little picture of Sonic next to it, will always be the fastest way to get you back to the action!
Sometimes you can see little tabs on the side of your speech bubble. Touch on the tabs to see what else you can say!
Try it now: Choose one of the other tabs in the dialogue window. Maybe it'll help Amy feel better.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Like this?

Tails: The little picture on the tab tells you what kind of thing you're about to say. Sometimes it's a question, or a statement, or even something a little snarky!
I know it's nice to rush through to the next thing, but sometimes you'll miss out on some information or story that way.
Sometimes it's good to slow down and ask questions or talk to your teammates!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Got it. Let's go!
Sonic (OPTION B): What should we do now?
Sonic (OPTION C): Oh really? So... what is your favorite color, Tails?
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE): ...
Tails (OPTION C RESPONSE): Um... Well... Oh, ha ha, Sonic. Not that kind of question!
Amy: Tails' workshop is still in the northeastern area of Central City. Let's go!
Just don't get any ideas! I have a boyfriend now, you know.
Pre Sentry Drone Fight[]
[Sonic and Amy continue south only for a Sentry Drone to fly down in their path]
Sentry Drone: SCANNING UNKNOWN CREATURE....
Tails: Hey, that looks like a security drone! I wonder what it’s doing out there?
Sentry Drone: NEMESIS DETECTED. MUST ALERT COMMAND.
Tails: Oh no! I don’t know who “command” is, but if the drone alerts them, we could be in big trouble! You’ll have to smash it before it gets away!
Sonic: Gotcha. This’ll be fun.
Post Sentry Drone Fight[]
Tails: Strange... that looked like one of Eggman's drones. I can't be sure, though. It's too mangled.
Sonic: You said stop it. You didn't tell me to keep it in one piece!
Tails: Whoever sent that drone probably knows you're here, Sonic. You had better be careful!
Side Mission: Bridge Puzzle[]
[Sonic starts heading towards the bridge however a young man informs him i's been raised.]
CIVILLIAN: Hey, Sonic! it looks like someone raised the bridge to the rest of the Green Hill Zone!
You need at least four characters to to solve this puzzle. Come back later!

Pre Marauder Fight[]
Marauder: That's far enough, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Tails: Sonic! It's a Marauder!
Marauder: Is that what your people are calling us? Quaint.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Step aside, Marauder!
Sonic (OPTION B): Where are you keeping Knuckles?
Sonic (OPTION C): What are you Marauders up to?
Marauder (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): I can't do that. Shade sent me here to stop you.
Marauder (OPTION B RESPONSE): I'm not here to answer your questions. Shade sent me here to stop you.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION B RESPONSE): Then let's see you try!
Sonic (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION B RESPONSE): Who is Shade?
Marauder (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION B RESPONSE): You expect me to tell you that? Now, now, Sonic. We just met.
Amy (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION B RESPONSE): Sonic, this Marauder is one of strongest foes we've met yet! Are you sure we're ready to fight him?
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION B RESPONSE): Maybe you should explore Green Hill Zone and make sure we've got everything you need to beat him!
Tails: This might even be a good time to save your game, Sonic! That way if we lose this fight, we can pick back up where we left off!
If this Shade sent just one to stop you, she must be confident that he has a chance against you!
Marauder (OPTION C RESPONSE): All you need to know is that Shade sent me here to stop you.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then let's see you try!
Sonic (OPTION B): Who is Shade?
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): I'm ready to fight this Marauder now.
Marauder (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): Good. Shade told me just to stop you, but I'd much rather knock you out.
Tails (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): Good luck, team!
Post Marauder Fight[]
Amy: Where did he go?
Tails: I'm detecting an energy signature, like he teleported away!
Amy: Well, that's just not fair!
Tails: Please hurry and come to my workshop, Sonic. We have to find Knuckles quickly!
Sonic: I'll be right there.
Sonic (OPTION B): You may be right. Let's come back later.
Marauder (OPTION B RESPONSE): Please. Feel free to play in this little sandbox all you like. Nothing here will help you get past this bridge.
But by all means, come back if you think you're ready to try.
Marauder (RETRY AFTER OPTION B): You again. Have you come back to try try and get past me?
Tails (RETRY AFTER OPTION B): Sonic, are you sure you're ready to fight him?
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE CONTINUED RETRY AFTER OPTION B): I'm ready to fight!
Sonic (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED RETRY AFTER OPTION B): Not yet. We'll be back.
Sonic (OPTION C): How do I save my game?
Tails (OPTION C RESPONSE): First you need to back away from fight. Just for a moment!
After that, just press START or touch the bottom-left corner of the Touch Screen, then choose the top-left icon in the Corner Menu!
Then choose which slot you want to use, and save the game!
It's up to you to remember to save your game as you go, Sonic, so keep that in mind!
Sonic (OPTION D): It's just one Marauder. How tough could it be?
Tails (OPTION D RESPONSE): The Marauders are powerful, Sonic. Much more powerful than a few armadillos and boars!
If this Shade sent just one to stop you, she must be confident that he has a chance against you!
Entering Central City[]
Amy: Central City. We made it! Even with Marauders trying to stop us!
Sonic: That Marauder wasn't so tough.
Amy: But they clearly know you're here, Sonic, and they're trying to stop you!
Amy: After what they did to knuckles... I don't want you to get hurt!
Sonic: Don't worry about me, Amy. I'll be just fine.
Amy: Fine. See if I ever worry about you again!
Sonic: Let's just go find Tails. Is his workshop still to the east of here?
Amy: Yep! Let's go!
Meeting with Rouge[]
Rouge: Well, well, well. Sonic the Hedgehog. And better looking than ever, I see. You look like you've been working out.
Amy: Leave him alone!
Rouge: Oh, I'm sorry, am I flirting with your man? But here I though you had a boyfriend!
Amy: I... I just don't want you to embarrass Sonic, that's all.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): It's okay, Amy. I can handle Rouge.
Sonic (OPTION B): Thanks, Amy.
Sonic (OPTION C): No one asked you to defend me, Amy.
Rouge (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): Mmm-hmm.
Amy (OPTION B RESPONSE): Sure, Sonic! Anytime!
Rouge (OPTION B RESPONSE): Mmm-hmm.
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE): Well, fine. But when she gets her nasty Rouge-germs allover you, don't come crying to me!
Rouge (OPTION C RESPONSE): Mmm-hmm.
Rouge: I hate to say it, darlin', but I can't let you in here yet. I'm strict orders to wait until you have that sweet little fox with you.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then we'll go get Tails and come back.
Sonic (OPTION B): Why do we need Tails? Can't we just go inside?
Sonic (OPTION C): Who gave you the orders?
Rouge (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): Hurry back, Big Blue. A girl like me can't wait forever.
Rouge (OPTION B RESPONSE): This is Tails' show, darlin'. I can't let you in without him to give authorization.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then we'll go get Tails and come back.
Sonic (OPTION B): Tails' show? Really? Since when?
Rouge (OPTION B CONTINUED OPTION B RESPONSE): You've been gone a long time, Big Blue. Tails had to learn to do things without you.
He's come a long way, the scruffy little thing.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then we'll go get Tails and come back.
Sonic (OPTION B): Who gave you the orders to not let me in?
Rouge (OPTION B RESPONSE): I'll gladly tell you all about it once you're back here with Tails. Until then, I'm afraid I have to remain alluringly mysterious.

Rouge (RETURN WITHOUT TAILS): Mmm. Hey there, sweetie.
I still can't let you in, handsome. Go get your friend Tails, and I'll see what I can do for you.
Meeting with Tails[]
Tails: Sonic! I'm so glad you made it! We have to save Knuckles from those Marauders!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Let's go get him!
Sonic (OPTION B): How did he get captured?
Tails (DEFAULT RESPONSE): We don't know where they're keeping him. If we just go out there without a plan, we'll waste whatever time Knuckles might have left.
Luckily, we're not in this alone. GUN has some ideas where we might look.
We're supposed to go into the city and meet with the GUN Commander and work out a plan.
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE): Not too long ago, Knuckles came to me for help. Six of the seven Chaos Emeralds had been stolen, and he wanted to set up a trap.
When the Marauders came to take the last Emerald, they somehow jammed my trap and overcame Knuckles with sheer numbers!
By the time I could get the trap working, they were gone!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then what happened?
Sonic (OPTION B): How could they jam your trap AND defeat Knuckles?
Sonic (OPTION C): The Marauder said that someone named "Shade" sent him.
Sonic (OPTION D): Ha! Some guardian Knuckles turned out to be!
Tails (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): Once they were gone, I came back here and immediately called you, Sonic.
And here we are.
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE): They had some crazy machines, Sonic. More advanced than anything I could put together.
They just pointed at my trap, and it broke! Then they turned on Knuckles!
He's strong, but there were too many! In the end, they overpowered him.
Tails (OPTION C RESPONSE): Right. I've searched my files for mention of Shade, but I haven't found anything.
Maybe GUN will know more about this Shade person.
Tails (OPTION D RESPONSE): If you'd seen him, you wouldn't say that, Sonic. He knocked out a lot of Marauders before they finally beat him.
You might not like to say it, but anyone who can beat Knuckles in a fight is bad news.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then why are we standing? Let's go save Knuckles!
Sonic (OPTION B): How could they jam your trap AND defeat Knuckles?
Sonic (OPTION C): The Marauder said that someone named "Shade" sent him.
Sonic (OPTION D): I know. I've beaten him before.
Tails (OPTION D RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION D RESPONSE): Yes. So you know how strong the Marauders must be!

Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE): As you know, GUN is the Guardian Units of Nations. They're the military, Sonic.
They helped us when we defeated Eggman and they're willing to help again.
Tails (OPTION C RESPONSE): I wanted to talk to you, too, Sonic! It feels like forever since you left on your trip.
I was happy when Knuckles asked for my help. Between you and me, I was getting bored working by myself.
Everything was pretty calm while you were gone. Until the Marauders showed up, that is.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): We should go speak with GUN.
Sonic (OPTION B): It seems like you've been doing well, Tails.
Amy (DEFAULT RESPONSE): Yeah! Hold on, Knuckles! Here we come!
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): I've been pretty good. Without you around, I've had to handle a few things on my own.
Nothing big, but a rampaging bear here, a power outage there. I guess without you, I had to grow up a little bit.
But now you're back! It'll be just like old times!
Tails: Hang on a sec, Sonic. There's something we should discuss!
As we continue on this adventure, it's a good idea for you to save your game from time to time... like when you met the Marauder at the bridge!
That way, if we lose a fight, or if you decide to take a break, we can start over at our last save.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): I know all about that. Let's go!
Sonic (OPTION B): How do I save my game again?
Tails (OPTION B RESPONSE): You can save the game by pressing START or touching the bottom-left corner of the Touch Screen, then choosing the top-left icon in the Corner Menu!
Then choose which slot you want to use, and save the game!
Tails: It's up to you to remember to save your game as you go, Sonic, so keep that in mind!
Whew. Now that's out of the way. Let's go!
Amy: What was that?
Tails: Sounds like... robots?
Amy: Robots? Here?
Sonic: Let's go see what's going on.
Tails: Right!
These look like Eggman's robots! But there's something... odd about them.
Amy: But I thought we defeated Eggman for good!
Sonic: Who cares? Let's smash 'em!
Tails: I was right. There are Eggman robots.
Amy: Could Eggman be back? Is that possible?
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): If he's back, we have to take him out.

Meeting with Rouge (Part 2)[]
Rouge (RETURN WITH TAILS): Mmm. Hey there, sweetie.
I see the gang's all here. Let's go see the Commander.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Right behind you.
Sonic (OPTION B): Why should we follow you, Rouge?
Sonic (OPTION C): Are you guys sure we should trust her?
Rouge (OPTION B RESPONSE): Because I'm the only reason you're getting in to see the Commander, and the Commander is the one who can help you.
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE): Absolutely not!
Tails (OPTION C RESPONSE): We don't have much choice. Rouge is a sneak, but she's our link with GUN. This is our only hope.
Amy (OPTION C RESPONSE): That doesn't mean we have to like it.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Then let's go.
Sonic (OPTION B): I wish it were different, Amy, but we have no choice.
Sonic (OPTION C): Don't be so judgmental, Amy.
Sonic (OPTION D): Why should we follow you, Rouge?
Amy (OPTION B CONTINUED OPTION C RESPONSE): I guess so. We'll deal with it together.

Meeting with the Commander[]
Rouge: Hello, boss. Someone here to see you.
Commander: Ah! Tails! There you are. And you brought Sonic! Brilliant!
Amy: Actually, Sonic was nice enough to--
Commander: That's lovely. Have a glass of milk and sit down.
Amy: But I--
Commander: Tails probably briefed you on the situation, so let us begin.
We don't know why the Marauders wanted the Emeralds, but now that they have them, they're likely to go after the Master Emerald next.
Amy: What about Knuckles?
Commander: Knuckles is the only one who has seen the Marauders up close. He knows more about them than anyone in the world.
I believe that to stop the Marauders, you need to extract your friend Knuckles and learn everything you can about them.
Tails: But Knuckles could be anywhere! We have no idea where to look!
Commander: Ah yes. Where to look.
We have just the thing.
Chapter 2: The Search for Knuckles[]

Commander: As you know, we've been tracking the Marauders for some time.
For a while, we had no luck. But recently, our satellites noticed some activity at four locations in Green Hill Zone and Central City.
Rouge: Recognize those places?
Tails: Those are Eggman's old hideouts.
Amy: Could the Marauders be working for Eggman?
Commander: We don't jump to conclusions here. We have to work with the facts.
Unfortunately, we can't tell which, if any, of these hideouts is the one where they're keeping Knuckles.
We're not taking chances. We've posted soldiers in Mystic Ruins to watch over Angel Island.
Vector the Crocodile and Team Chaotix have volunteered to scout for further clues. They're on the channel now.
Vector: Yo, Sonic. It's about time you came back.
Commander: They have been instrumental in pinning down these four locations. Now it's up to you to explore them for signs of Knuckles.
Sonic, you and your team will go to each of the hideouts and investigate. Rouge will go with you as your contact with GUN.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Let's get moving. We have to save Knuckles.
Sonic (OPTION B): Have you seen any sign of Eggman?
Sonic (OPTION C): So, instead of GUN troops, you're giving us ROUGE?
Sonic (OPTION D): Do you know anything about someone named Shade?
Commander (DEFAULT OPTION RESPONSE): Good. Our satellites have picked up activity at two locations in Green Hill Zone and two places inside Central City.
We'll mark them on your map. Visit each one, and you should find the echidna.
Good luck, team. Now go.
Commander (OPTION B RESPONSE): We detected electronic resonance coming from those old hideouts, and we've seen shadowy figures going in and out.
Commander (OPTION C RESPONSE): I can't spare troops, son. The Marauders are a major threat, and I can't leave the land unsecured.
Besides, rescuing the echidna takes the kind of small-unit tactics you and your team are known for.
Rouge: I'm better than any squad of bonehead GUN troops, anyway. I promise, with Rouge around, you won't miss those soldiers a bit.
Commander (OPTION D RESPONSE): This is the first I've heard of this. We'll have Team Chaotix do some digging and see what we can come up with.
Vector (OPTION D RESPONSE): We're on it.
Commander: We'll contact Rouge if we learn anything while you're in the field.
Chapter 3: Egghunt[]

Eggman: Ha ha ha My dear, I wouldn’t trust me, either! But I am as angry as you are that someone had the gall to activate MY old machines and use them for their own purposes! It just looks bad, I tell you. I was young when I made those old robots! Young and full of beans!
Tails: Why should we trust you, Eggman?
Sonic: He’s right, Eggman. Everything points to you.
Eggman: Ha, ha ha! Sonic, it’s adorable how much you hate me. But you simply must trust me, my spiky friend. For I, the illustrious Dr. Robotnik… have utterly and completely reformed!
Chapter 4: A Wolf in Shadows[]

Knuckles: Not so fast, Amy. He might be telling the truth.

Sonic (Option B): Amy is right. This better be good.
Sonic (Option C): Tell us what you know, Eggman. All of it.

Eggman (When Option D is chosen): Why not? The Marauders have the Chaos Emeralds. They are as much a threat to me as they are to you!
Eggman (continued): I know how much trouble you'd be in if I had them right now. Oh, the glorious carnage I could cause! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Eggman (cont. 2): Ahem.
Tails: The robots we've seen so far have been old models, Sonic. Eggman's too proud to rely on old machines.
Tails (continued): The Marauders must be using Eggman's old robots to fool us into going after Eggman instead!
Knuckles: Hm. There's something to that. My captors were way too skilled and capable to be Eggman's minions.
Eggman: Hey!!
Sonic (Default Option): Then let's talk, Eggman. And skip the boring details.
Sonic (Option B): Tell us what you know, Eggman. All of it.
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): I have been tracking the Marauders for some time, ever since they tripped a sensor in one of my old hideouts.
Eggman: (continued): So desperate are they that they use my old, cast-off bases as headquarters! They've even reprogrammed my obsolete-model robots to do their bidding!
Eggman (cont. 2): The sheer nerve of it all! The least they could do was ask!
Eggman (cont. 3): Ha! But I have the last laugh! So durable is my machinery that I was able to watch them as they worked.
Eggman (cont. 4): I have yet to see a Chaos Emerald with them, but I did see one of their veiwscreens. On it were the letters "IX."
Sonic (Default Option): Stop blathering and get to the point.
Sonic (Option B): "IX" as in "nine"?
Sonic (Option C): What does that mean?
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): Why... yes! The Roman numeral nine, Yes. That occurred to me long ago, of course.
Sonic: Stop blathering and get to the point.
Eggman: Well. And here I thought you might have found patience on your little sabbatical.
Eggman (continued): I have charted the flight path of your Angel Island. And with equipment no more advanced then a rusty garbage lid.
Eggman (cont. 2): According to my projections, Angel Island is being pulled to Metropolis, where the Marauders are based!
Tails: The Marauders must have polarized the Emeralds to attract the Master Emerald, essentially towing Angel Island right to them!
Eggman: Yes, yes. Of course. That's what I came up with, as well.
Sonic and his friends take the Tornado to Blue Ridge Zone
Blue Ridge Zone[]
Upon arriving to Blue Ridge Zone, the screen show a dirt road that branches. One path goes north the other goes left. The screen pans over to where Shadow is is standing on an adjacent dirt road. Then the screen pans past Shadow and down the road to a town looking area where the Tornado is parked at. Sonic is standing outside of the plane.
Tails: So, this is the Blue Ridge Zone.
Cream (If she is in the party): Brr... I'm cold!
Amy: I've never really been here before. It seems... quiet.
Tails: We've landed in Station Square. That means that the back door to Metropolis is to the north.
Tails (continued): Keep an eye out, team. I bet the Marauders won't be too happy to see us close to their base!
Sonic: Let's go!
Sonic walks up the road to where Shadow is.
Shadow: Don't get in my way, Sonic!
Sonic: You can't out run me, Shadow!
Shadow: Maybe not. But I can outfight you!
The party then enters a battle against Shadow. They win the fight.
Tails: He's getting away! You're the only one who can catch him, Sonic. Go!
Shadow spindashes away with Sonic in hot pursuit, also in a spindash. Sonic catches up to Shadow. Then enter into a battle with just the two of them. Shadow instantly tries to flee. Sonic catches up with him and wins the fight.
Shadow: You... You've been practicing.
Sonic: Tell me why you're out here, Shadow. Now.
Amy: Have you been working for the Marauders?
Shadow: The Marauders? Why would I work for them? I've been searching for E-123 Omega.
Shadow (continued): But ever since I got here, these Marauders have been coming out of nowhere to stop me.
Shadow (cont. 2): I've decided to give any Marauders I find a severe beating. To put it mildly.
Sonic (Default Option): Join us, Shadow. We have a common enemy.
Sonic (Option B): What happened to Omega?
Sonic (Option C): Seems like the only one getting beaten around here is you.
Shadow (When Option B is chosen): E-123 Omega is one of Eggman's most powerful robots. Unlike Eggman's other robots, however, Omega was... intelligent. He hated Eggman.
Shadow (continued): Omega was trying to track down Eggman. I've searched all of Eggman's old hideouts for Omega, but no luck.
Shadow (cont. 2): I think maybe Omega went into Metropolis and he got disabled somehow. I was on my way to find him when you stopped me.
Sonic (Default Option): Join us, Shadow. We have a common enemy.
Sonic (Option B):
Sonic (Option C): Why were you looking for him?
Shadow (When Option C is chosen): Because a powerful and friendly Eggman robot is a valuable ally. Even the likes of you should understand that.
Shadow (continued): More then that, though, he was my friend. And I won't let a friend rust in Metropolis at the hands of those Marauders.
Rouge: I want to help, Big Blue. I hate to think of Omega out there alone, when he could be with us, blowing stuff up.
Sonic (Default Option): Join us, Shadow. We have a common enemy.
Sonic (Option B):
Shadow (When Default Option is chosen): Looks that way.
Shadow (continued): I will join you for now. Strength in numbers, right?
Knuckles: Keep your friends close....
Shadow: Exactly.
Shadow (continued): Omega should be in Metropolis. Should we make it inside, I'd like to look for him.
Tails: Sonic, maybe this would be a good time to save the game.
Sonic (Default Option): Good idea, Tails.
Sonic (Option B): Please stop reminding me to save my game.
Tails (When Option B is chosen): Oh, sure. I guess you know what you're doing!
Shadow: Let's go. Clock's ticking.
The party heads to the upper right side of the map, following a dirt road.
Tails: I have a bad feeling about this. Maybe this would be a good time to save the game!
Sonic (Default Option): Good idea, Tails.
Sonic (Option B): Please stop reminding me to save my game.
Tails (When Option B is chosen): Let's go!
Sonic walks forward a bit more.
???: That's quite far enough.
Knuckles: That voice....
Two comic panels of the Blue Ridge Zone landscape slides onto the screen, the panel on the right side is slightly higher up then the one on the left. Two smaller panels each with a Marauder in them jump onto the right panel of the landscape. Then circle shaped panel with a different looking Marauder jumps onto the screen between the two panels with the other Marauders in them. The screen fades to black, returning to the usual game screen. The center Marauder jumps into frame and walks up to Sonic.
???: Abandon your quest and back away now. This is the last warning before we exterminate you.
Knuckles: You!
Sonic: You must be Shade.
???: Yes. I am Shade of the exiled Nocturnus Clan.
Shade: Turn around now, primitives. Don't make me destroy you.
Knuckles: What have you done with the Chaos Emeralds?!
Shade: Don't worry. They're safe.
Shade removes her helmet.
Shade: We are simply returning them to their true masters!
Knuckles: What?!?
Tails: She's an echidna!
Amy: But I thought Knuckles was the last!
Knuckles: This is... not possible! Only my bloodline survived the wrath of Perfect Chaos!
Shade: Your clan paid for its arrogance, but the Nocturnus Clan was wrongly punished for our success. And now we will return to this world!
Knuckles: You can't be the Nocturnus Clan. This is a trick!
Shade: And yet here I stand. Now, step aside, or I will show you the power of the Nocturnus!
Sonic: Let me see you try!
Sonic is then thrown into a battle against Shade and two Marauders. Sonic and the party win the battle.
Shade: Everyone! Fall back! Now!
Sonic: Stop them, team!
Shade: This party is over, friends. You will not follow us.
Shade walks down the road to off of the screen, then two panel slide onto the screen. The panel on the left is of some blue cliffs, the panel on the right is of two Marauders and Shade with her helmet on, each holding an arm out. There is a smaller panel on top of the right panel that is Shade's arm with a bracelet on it. In the smaller panel, Shade presses a button on her bracelet which causes a small panel to appear on top of the left panel. The new small panel shows an explosion on the edge of the cliff, some rocks flying out from it. Then a panel of bigger size pops out of it showing a few frames of the explosion dissipating and the rocks falling. Then another bigger panel pops out of the newer panel showing a few more frames of the explosion dissipating and the rocks falling. Then on the right panel, the Marauders and Shade teleport out in a flash of light. Then rocks fall from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen, settling on the ground where the Marauders and Shade once stood. Dust rises from the fallen rocks.
Tails: She's blocked the road! We have to find another way!
Eggman: Oh, spare me the crying. This is my city. I know every possible way in.
Eggman (continued): There are railway tunnels that lead into the city not far from here. If we can find one, and it's not completely caved in....
Tails: We can get in that way.
Tails (continued): Sonic, I think it's our only hope.
Sonic (Default Option): Then let's go.
Sonic (Option B): Eggman, are these tunnels the only way in?
Sonic (Option C): Knuckles? Are you all right?
Knuckles (When Option C): Yes... I....
Knuckles (continued): We have work to do, Sonic. We'll talk about this later.
Sonic (Default Option): Then let's go.
Sonic (Option B): Eggman, are these tunnels the only way in?
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): There are countless ways into my city! Er, most of which I have kept secret... even from myself!
Eggman (continued): I designed the subway system myself. I have no doubt the tunnels withstood the destruction of Metropolis.
Sonic (Default Option): Then let's go.
Sonic (Option B): That doesn't fill me with confidence.
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): Well it should.
Sonic: Let's go!
Eggman: The tunnels are off to the west.
Tails: The Marauders won't just let us go. We should be careful.
Tails (continued): Maybe this would be a good time to save the game, Sonic.
Sonic (Default Option): Good idea, Tails.
Sonic (Option B): Please stop reminding me to save my game.
Tails (When Default Option is chosen): Let's go, team!
The screen then scrolls from where that party is standing in the upper right corner of Blue Ridge Zone to the upper left corner of the map where a large plie of snow was blocking the way. The snow melts reviling a puzzle. The party then walks into the screen from the right side fallowing the road, thus placing the party close to where the puzzle is. The party sees a man just outside of the puzzle area.
Man: You're back! I heard a loud explosion off to the east, and the snow crumbled and melted! You know anything about that?
Sonic (Default): Yeah, that was us.
Sonic (Option B): The Marauders caused a landslide.
Man (When Default Option is chosen): Crazy. Well, now that the snow's gone, maybe you can help me get this door open!
Man (continued): This door is secured with a code lock. You have to enter the right sequence to open it.
Eggman: Ha! Just as I remembered! The code is... well... hm. It has been a long time since I used this door!
Man: I've been working on this a while now. I can help you get it open for a price!
Sonic (Default Option): Let me try it on my own first.
Sonic (Option B): Give me a hint! (30 rings)
Sonic (Option C): I'll come back later.
Man (When Option B is chosen): All right.
Man (continued): The main monitor displays a pattern you must match.
Man (cont. 2): Exit the puzzle by touching the Exit Arrow, and come see me if you need another hint.
Man (cont. 3): Good luck!
Man (second encounter): Having trouble? I can help!
Sonic (Default Option): I'll try it on my own.

When talking to him a third time, he says the same thing as the second time. Sonic also has the same options.
When asked for another hint, Man: That's all I can tell you. If I know more, I'd have gotten in there already!
Man (continued): Good luck!
After solving the puzzle Sonic is given a Health Seed and 500 XP.
Man (When puzzle is solved): Nice job! You figured out the code!
The party enters the tunnel.
Eggman: Aha! The tunnel! Just as I left it!
Amy: Won't the Marauders know about these tunnels?
Eggman: Ha! Silly girl. You know nothing of the sublime art of infiltration.
Eggman (continued): if there's anything you want to do outside of Metropolis, I suggest you go and do it now. Once we're inside, there's no coming back.
Sonic (Default Option): Let's go. I'm done with everything out here.
Sonic (Option B): I have a few things I want to do first.
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): We have a little time, but not much. When we're ready to stop the Marauders, we should come back here.
Eggman (continued): Let's go!
When going back to the tunnel,
Eggman: Here we are again. And the tunnel is still here! A marvel of engineering!
Eggman (continued): Shall we go inside and put an end to these Marauders?
Sonic (Default Option): Yes. We're done with everything out here.
Sonic (Option B): I have a few things I want to do first.
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): Come on! They're crawling all over my city!
Eggman (continued): Hmph. Very well. Go and do your little side quests. I suppose Metropolis will still be ruined when we get back.
Eggman (cont. 2): We have a little time, but not much. When we're ready to stop the Marauders, we should come back here.
Eggman (cont. 3): Let's go!
Eggman (When Default Option is chosen): Once we enter these tunnels, we will be in the Metropolis underground. From there, we mount our assault.
Tails: Sounds dangerous.
Knuckles: Sounds stupid.
Tails: Sounds like our only way in.
Eggman: Please, my furry friends. After you! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Thus begins the next chapter.
Side Quest: Deliver the Warning![]
In the town looking area next to where the Tornado is in Blue Ridge Zone, Sonic encounters a Man who looks like a construction worker. We later learn that this man's name is Johnson.
Johnson: Sonic! Help! I just realized that when I left work at the the factory last night, I forgot to shut off the breakers.
Johnson (continued): When the foreman switches on the main power today, it will blow out the grid!
Sonic (Default Option): Don't worry, we'll take care of this!
Sonic (Option B): I'm sorry. I don't have time to help you.
Sonic (Option C): You sound completely incompetent!
Sonic (Option D): Quick! Where's the factory?
Johnson (When Option B is chosen): Oh, man. I am in big trouble now!
Then you are kicked out of the conversation. When you reenter the conversation he just says the same thing he did when first encountered.
Johnson (When Option C is chosen): What can I say? I'm absentminded. What were we just talking about?
Sonic (Default Option): I'll take care of this.
Sonic (Option B): I'm sorry. I don't have time to help you.
Sonic (Option C): Quick! Where's the factory?
Johnson (When Option C is chosen): Right. It's just north of here. I don't think there's anything that will slow you down...
Johnson (continued): But I don't really remember.
Johnson (cont. 2): Come back and let me know how it went, okay?
Johnson (cont. 3): And please hurry!
Johnson (When talking to him before completing the mission): What are you still doing here?
Sonic heads to the factory, once arriving there he encounters the foreman.
Foreman: You aren't authorized to be here!
Sonic (Default Option): Stop Don't start the factory!
Sonic (Option B): One of your workers asked us to stop you!
Sonic (Option C): Oh, then go right ahead and pull the switch.
Foreman (When Option C is chosen): Why? What's this all about?
Tails: If you pull the switch, you'll blow up the whole factory!
Foreman: What?!
Foreman (continued): Oh, for crying out loud. Did Johnson forget to close the breakers again?
Foreman (cont. 2): I tell you, that man would forget his head if it wasn't attached to his body.
Foreman (cont. 3): I'll go reset the breakers before turning on main power.
Foreman (cont. 4): But you better believe that Johnson's getting a talking-to!
Sonic then heads back to Johnson.
Johnson: You did it! I'm so relieved,
Johnson (continued): Thanks to you, I won't lose my job when I go in to work!
Sonic (Default Option): it was my pleasure!
Sonic (Option B): Be more careful next time.
Johnson (no matter which option is chosen): Here. Take this. I was going to bribe my boss with it, but I don't really need it now.
Johnson (continued): I'd better get to work before I'm fired for being late!
Sonic then receives a Speed Bar and 500 XP as rewards for clearing the mission.
Side Quest: GUN Escort[]
During Sonic's exploration of Blue Ridge Zone, he finds a man standing near an intersection on a dirt road, the intersection has a sign indicating where the roads go to. There is also a large robot near the man.
Man: Help! Please!
Man (continued): Oh please, you must help me. We were attacked by Marauders! I barely escaped!
Man (cont. 2): I must get back to GUN Headquarters! Please!
Sonic (Default Option): Sure, Come with us.
Sonic (Option B): What are you doing out here?
Sonic (Option C): Sorry. We're on an important mission.
Man (When Option B is chosen): I am an inspector with GUN, sent here to investigate rumors that the Marauders have taken Metropolis.
Man (continued): Not Long after we got here, though, we were attacked!
Sonic (Default Option): I see. Come with us, we'll help.
Sonic (Option B): Why do you keep saying "we"?
Sonic (Option C): Sorry. We're on an important mission.
Man (when Option B is chosen): I came here with a team of soldiers, but when we we're attacked...
Man (continued): I ran, okay? I got scared and ran away! That's right! Everyone laugh at the coward!
Rouge: Heh. Coward.
Man: But I really must get back. If this isn't evidence of the Marauders, I don't know what is!
Sonic (Default Option): I see. Come with us, we'll help.
Sonic (Option B): Sorry We're on an important mission.
Man (When Option B is chosen): Please! I beg you!
Then Sonic is sent out of the conversation.
Man (When talking to him again): Thank you, thank you! You've come back to save me!
Sonic (Default Option): Yes, we have, Come on.
Sonic (Option B): What are you doing out here?
Sonic (Option C): Nope. Sorry.
Man (When Option C is chosen): You can't just leave me out here like this! I'm too important to die!
This then kicks you out of the conversation. When reentering the conversation for the third time, the man says the same thing he said during the second encounter.
Man (When Default Option is chosen): Thank you thank you thank you!
Man (continued): if you could escort me as far as Station Square, I would be most grateful.
Then Sonic receives the key item GUN Official, who's flavor text reads "Please, no time to talk. I must return to Station Square. I'm very important, you know!"
Sonic then goes to the town looking area near where the Tornado is in Blue Ridge Zone.
Man: Finally! I'm saved!
Man (Continued): You are a national hero, Sonic. A paragon of virtue! Man: No doubt you will be commended with medals and trophies and piles and piles of cash for saving my life!
Sonic (Default Option): Happy to help!
Sonic (Option B): Right. No doubt.
Sonic (Option C): Stay safe!
Man (When Option B is chosen): Now, I must be off! Farewell, Sonic!
Rouge: Ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Tails: Hey! He was really scared!
Rouge: What? That was funny!
Shadow: Hardly worth the time spent to save him.
Tails: Let's get back to work, team!
As a reward for completing the mission Sonic is given an Immunity Booster, a Revival Ring and 100 XP.
Side Quest: Timmy's in Trouble![]
Sonic finds a lone house in the bottom left corner of Blue Ridge Zone. Outside the house is an old man.
Old Man: Oh, Sonic the Hedgehog! I need your help! My son Timmy is stuck in a well!
Old Man (continued): You have to do something!
Sonic (Default Option): Of course we'll help!
Sonic (Option B): How did Timmy fall in the well?
Sonic (Option C): There's no time for this.
Old Man (When Option C is chosen): I understand you must be busy, but...
Old Man (continued): If you change your mind, please help him. He's in a well to the north!
It then kicks you out of the conversation.
Old Man (When talking to him again): I'm so worried. I hope Timmy is okay!
Sonic then heads north to the well.
Tails: There's a well! I wonder if that's the one Timmy fell into.
Sonic then jumps into the well. At the bottom he sees a man, who is later revealed to be named Timothy, and one of the collectible Chao Eggs.
Timothy: Whoa. Who are you?
Sonic (Default Option): I'm the guy who's rescuing you. Come on!
Sonic (Option B): I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!
Sonic (Option C): Are you Timmy?
Timothy (When Option B is chosen): Oh, really? Cool. I've never met a celebrity. Oh, no. Have you been speaking to my father?
Timothy (continued): My name is Timothy. My father's getting on in age. He seems to think I'm still ten years old.
Timothy: I work down here. I seal cracks and keep animals and stuff out of the well.
Sonic (Default Option): Well, you're coming with us anyway.
Sonic (Option B): Does that mean you want to stay here?
Timothy (When Option B is chosen): It means I wasn't in any danger. My father's just a kook.
Timothy (continued): Anyway, I was more or less done here, so Ill just go with you. You can help carry my stuff.
Timothy (cont. 2): Let's go.
Sonic then receives the key item Timothy who's flavor text reads "My dad isn't really crazy, just old. He'll be glad to see me, I know." Sonic heads back to the old man's house.
Old Man: Timmy! They found you!
Old Man (continued): Are you all right, son?
Timothy: Yes, Father, I'm fine. Just like I am every day when I get home from work.
Old Man: Thank you so much, Sonic. Please, take this. It's not much, but it may come in handy.

Eggman: We can rest here for the moment. My awesome fortifications ensure we’ll have warning if the echidnas should come looking for us. Don’t mind that teleporter over there. It hasn’t worked in ages.
Tails: Great. Everyone rest for a bit, and we’ll come up with a plan when we’re ready. Sonic, you might want to talk to Knuckles. He looks… unhappy.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Sure. I bet he has a lot on his mind.
Sonic (OPTION B): He'll be fine.

Shadow: What do you want, Sonic?
Sonic (Default Option): Are you ready to go into Metropolis?
Sonic (Option B): Tell me about what happened to E-123 Omega.
Sonic (Option C): Why are you being like that?
Shadow (Option B): I don't know. We've lost touch. But knowing him, he likely detected Eggman robots in Metropolis and went there to destroy them. He's always wanted to be the toughest robot of all, and he'll take any chance to prove his strength.
Sonic (Default Option): We'll find him.
Sonic (Option B): Do you think he's in trouble?
Sonic (Option C): Where do you think he is?
Shadow (Option C): The device I had when you found me was some kind of tracker, and it said he was in Metropolis. It couldn't tell me where, exactly. So either the device was useless, or Omega's not giving off a signal anymore. That worries me.
Sonic (Default Option): We'll find him.
Sonic (Option B): Do you think he's in trouble?
Shadow (Option B): Omega's strong, but he's not invincible. And he's hardheaded enough to charge into danger without thinking. If something has happened to him, I will be very upset.
Sonic: We'll find him.
Shadow: If those Marauders have done something to him, they have no idea what's coming to them. I'll stick with you until we find Omega, Sonic. But don't expect me to join in on your group hugs and picnics. I'll be ready when it's time to go.

Amy: Oh, Sonic. I wanted to talk to you. I know you don't like me... the way I like you. I just hoped you like me a little bit.
Sonic (Default Option): There's no time for this, Amy. We have stuff to do!

Amy (Option B): Well, you do. You make me so mad sometimes! But if you don't mean it, I guess I can forgive you. Only if you don't do it again! I better go get everything ready for the attack on Metropolis. Thanks, Sonic!

The Plan Commences[]
Tails: Hello, Sonic. Is everyone ready to go?
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Yes. Let's get moving.
Sonic (Option B): No, not quite.
Tails (Option B): Come let me know when you are. We almost have a plan figured out.
Tails (Default Option): Okay! Everyone, gather around!
Amy: We have a plan?
Tails: We do! But it won't be easy.
Eggman: My calculations say that Angel Island will be directly over Metropolis in a matter of moments. If you want to save your Master Emerald, you'll have to hurry. My calculations never lie.
Knuckles: It sounded like Shade didn't have the Master Emerald yet. If she did, this place would be swarming with Nocturnus Clan echidnas.
Amy: But there's already a whole army of Marauders and robots! Even Sonic can't take on an army without backup!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): It does sound like a challenge.
Sonic (OPTION B): You don't need to worry about me, Amy.
Amy (OPTION B RESPONSE): But I don't want you--er, anyone--to get hurt!
Sonic (CONTINUED DEFAULT OPTION): Everything will be fine. I promise.
Sonic (CONTINUED OPTION B): Does Dexter know you're so worried about me?
Amy (CONTINUED DEFAULT RESPONSE): Okay. I believe you. Thanks.

Eggman (DEFAULT RESPONSE): I, of course, anticipated this event. I have, in my advanced weaponry lab, the perfect machine for the job. Given time, I and my powerful scientific mind could rig up a weapon to help against our foes. We will be unstoppable! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Amy: Metropolis is crawling with bad guys, though. You'd never get there by yourself.
Knuckles: Go with him, then. I'll go to Angel Island alone.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): I say we split up. We can do both.
Sonic (OPTION B): What else do we know about the situation?
Sonic (OPTION C): How do we know Eggman won't just turn on us?
Sonic (Option D): Knuckles, you don't have to defend Angel Island alone!
Knuckles (Option B Response): What else do we need to know? It's my job to protect the Master Emerald, whatever the cost. The Nocturnus Clan must have some way of getting onto Angel Island. I'll stop them before they get there, or I'll hitch a ride and stop them on the island.
Eggman (OPTION C RESPONSE): You still don't trust me, Sonic? Why, I'm hurt. Ha ha ha ha ha! We have a common enemy, my blue friend. And even if we didn't, I've given up, remember? You've won, Sonic! The great Doctor Eggman is no longer a threat!
Knuckles (OPTION C CONTINUED): Good. Then he won't get in my way.
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): Let's split into two teams.
Tails (DEFAULT RESPONSE): Right! I'll go with Eggman. Maybe I can help him with the weapon!
Sonic (DEFAULT OPTION): I'll go with Knuckles.
Sonic (OPTION B): That's a good idea.
Sonic (OPTION C): Keep an eye on Eggman, Tails.
Tails (OPTION C RESPONSE): I will! I promise!
Knuckles (DEFAULT RESPONSE): I can do this alone.

Tails: Good. We have our teams. So what's the plan?
Knuckles: Sonic and I will take our team up into Metropolis and see what we can find out. We'll wipe out any Marauders we see and try to stop them before they get to Angel Island.
Tails: Eggman and I will take our team to Eggman's weapons lab. We'll put together a weapon we can use to even the odds against the Marauders!
Amy: I bet the Marauders are everywhere up there.
Eggman: Do not fear! In my infinite wisdom, I crafted a system of tunnels beneath the city! We can use them to travel unnoticed! Brilliant!
Tails: That sounds like a plan!
Sonic: We'll use these communicators to keep in touch.
Knuckles: Once we think the surface is safe, we'll radio and let you know.
Amy: This will be dangerous, everyone. Please be careful!
Tails: Sonic, this would be a very good place to save your game!
Sonic (Default Option): All right!
Sonic (Option B): Please stop reminding me to save my game.
Tails: Good luck, team!
Amy: And be careful!
Sonic and Knuckles' POV[]
[Sonic, Knuckles and the two members of your choice are in the tunnels]
Knuckles: These tunnels look familiar.
Sonic: We've been through here before, I think. Last time we brought down Eggman.
Amy (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): I remember. Let's not stay down here long.
Rouge (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Looks like you forgot to clean up when you were done.
Shadow (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Does it matter? Let's go.
Knuckles: Listen. It sounds like we're not alone.
Sonic: Then let's change that.
[Sonic, Knuckles and their team trudge through the tunnels before the reach the surface of Metropolis]
Knuckles: Wow. We really did a number on this place.
Sonic: See anything?
Knuckles: Let me... Oh.
Sonic: What is it?
Knuckles: Angel Island. I see it. If Eggman is correct, it will be in place soon.
Sonic: Then let's go!
Tails and Eggman's POV[]
[Meanwhile, with Tails and Eggman, they are their two members of your choice are in the tunnels]
Tails: Are you sure this is the right way?
Eggman: Of course I'm sure! I designed these tunnels! I hid a device in these tunnels. We'll need it to build a weapon against those Marauders.
Tails: Ah! I hadn't considered that. You say you have the parts just lying around?
Eggman: Of course I do! Ha ha ha ha ha! It shouldn't be far now.
Tails: Then lead on, Eggman.
[Tails, Eggman, and the rest of the party head deeper into the tunnels until they encounter a large machine.]
Eggman: There! The ionic defragulator!
Big (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Yay! We found it!
Cream (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Hee hee hee, that's a funny name!
Rouge (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Oh, good. If we run into anything that needs defragulating, we're all set.
Amy (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Ionic de-what-ulator?
Tails: What does that do, exactly?
Eggman: Oh, I couldn't begin to explain it to one such as yourself. By itself, it is nothing. But coupled with my hypersonic compactor rod -- and my own stupendous intellect -- it's a weapon! Come! The hypersonic compactor rod must be on the surface. Shall we go find it?
Tails: No! We have to wait for Sonic's signal.
Shadow (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): This is stupid. We’re wasting time. We should be out there fighting.
Tails (RESPONSE TO SHADOW): Sonic wants us safe down here. We’re wave two, Shadow. We’re supposed to come in once they’ve cleared the way!
Tails: I just hope they're all right.
Sonic and Knuckles' POV[]
[Describe cutscene]
Knuckles: We’re too late.
Sonic: No, we’re not. If we can stow away on one of the airships, we can get to Angel Island just as they do.
Shadow (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Good idea. Let's try it.
Rouge (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Not what I'd call a romantic cruise.
Cream (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): We get to fly?
Big (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): I like boats!
Amy (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): That sounds really dangerous. Is there another way?
Knuckles: If we’re fast enough, that just might work.
Sonic: Fast enough? Did you forget who I am?
[Sonic, Knuckles, and the rest of the party explore Metropolis until they reach the top right of the map]
Knuckles: The airbase! Let's go inside! Hurry!
[The team walks forward a bit]
Knuckles: They're taking off! Quick! We might be able to catch that last one. Hurry!
[With Knuckles's help, the team climbs up a wall, then jumps into the aircraft hanger from the opening in the roof.]
Tails and Eggman's POV[]
Tails: What's that noise? Sounds like... airships above?
Sonic: Tails! This is Sonic! The Marauders are taking off! We're on one of the airships, on our way to Angel Island. It should be safe for you to leave the underground now.
Tails: Thanks, Sonic!
Sonic: Be careful! Sonic out!
Tails: That's our cue!
Eggman: After you, my furry friend.
[Tails and Eggman's team head out of the tunnels and reach the surface.]
Eggman: My city! What have they done to... Argh! Those Marauder fools! Don't they know they've invited the wrath of Doctor Eggman?!
Rouge (If on team): Oh please. Do you even have any wrath left?
Eggman (in response to Rouge): Of course I-- er, no. Not really.
Tails: We have to find that part and get to the lab.
Tails: This would probably be a good time to save the game too!
Tails: Let's go!
[While Tails and Eggman's team are exploring Metropolis, then encounter an Old Man.]
Old Man: I've been scavenging here in Metropolis since the Egg Carrier crashed, and I have yet to get up top of that building. Looks like there's an escalator that goes up there, but you have to hit those switches in a certain way to activate the escalator. Beats me how you do it. Feel free to try for yourself. Maybe I can help you for a price.
Tails (Default Option): Let me try on my own, first.
Tails (Option B): Give me a hint! (30 rings)
Tails (Option C): I'll come back later.
Old Man (When Default Option is chosen): Good luck.
[Tails and the team are then forced into the puzzle.]
Old Man (When Option B is chosen): All right. The Main monitor displays a pattern you must match. Just close the puzzle by touching the Exit Arrow, and come to me if you want another hint. Good luck.

[Tails and Eggman's team solve the puzzle. They receive an Antidote and 750 XP as a reward.]
Old Man (When talked to after puzzle is solved): You got it workin'. I'll be darned.
[Tails and Eggman find a chest which contains the key item Weapon Part and 150 XP.]
Eggman: Ah, yes! Lovely! Even I am impressed by my craftsmanship!
Tails: What did you find?
Eggman: With these parts, I can assemble a Massive Blast Egg-Cannon the likes of which has never been seen before! A masterpiece of modern engineering! With this weapon, no one can withstand our might!
Shadow (If he is in the party): Now we're talking.
Rouge (If she is in the party): I don't know, the Marauders have done an awful lot of withstanding so far.
Tails: I have a better idea!
Shadow (If he is on team): Why am I not surprised?
Tails: If we could somehow create a Beam Cannon that would teleport them back where they came from.... With a little work, we could use a tracker I made to lock onto whatever signal we choose! We could fire it anywhere, but it would only hit what we tell it to hit!
Eggman: I hadn't thought of that. That's genius! Anywhere in the world, eh?
Tails: We could take out the Marauders without hitting our friends!
Eggman: We could send them home--wherever that is--without hurting them?
Tails: Right!
Eggman: But they will suffer no injuries? Not even a little?!
Tails: You can do it, Eggman! Just try!
Eggman: Not even a little tiny bit?
Tails: On our team, we avoid violence when we can, Eggman.
Eggman: I see. Well, if your wacko "pain-free" machine works, I'll be very impressed. My weapons lab is to the south.

Shadow: Wait! That's Omega! I knew it! Those Marauder goons. We have to--

Shadow, this is Tails. I think we found Omega.
Shadow: Great. How is he?

Shadow: Omega!
Eggman: Oh, don’t waste your time on this one. He’s been a thorn in my side for years!
Shadow: Quiet, Eggman, or I’ll promise you I’ll—
Tails: He’s still functioning! Just heavily damaged. But I think I can… Yes! With the parts from those guardian robots, I think I can repair him!
Shadow: Do it. Omega! Can you here me?
Omega: SYSTEMS COMING ONLINE -- E-123 OMEGA BEGINNING REACTIVATION PROTOCOL
Rouge: If I had a nickel for every time I heard that....
Omega: EGGMAN DETECTED. BEGINNING ANNIHILATION SQUENCE.
Tails: No! Omega, Eggman is on our side!
Omega: ORANGE FOREST CREATURE HAS GONE MAD. RECOMMEND IMMEDIATE DESTRUCTION.
Shadow: No, Omega. He's right. Eggman is helping Team Sonic against the Marauders.
Rouge: As hard as it is to believe.
Omega: THERE IS NO REASON TO DOUBT SHADOW OR ROUGE. THERE IS NO REASON TO TRUST THE REST OF THESE MEATBAGS.
Tails (Default Option): Let's go! We have much to do!
Tails (Option B): What happened to you, Omega?
Tails (Option B): I hope we can regain your trust!
Omega (When Option B is chosen): I CAME HERE TO DESTROY ALL OTHER EGGMAN ROBOTS. BUT I WAS SURROUNDED BY STRANGE CREATURES AND FORCED TO FLEE. THE COWARDS FOLLOWED ME. THEY MADE THEIR ROBOTS DISMANTLE ME WHILE I WAS HELPLESS. DISASSEMBLED BY INFERIOR MACHINES. IT WAS EMBARRASSING.
Shadow: Come with us, Omega. We're going to destroy the Marauders for what they did to you.
Omega: YES. THEY WILL BE DESTROYED FOR WHAT THEY DID TO ME.
Rouge: Ugh. Again with the emotionless revenge. It just gets tired.
Tails: Let's go, team!
Eggman: Yes. We have much work to do!
Omega: I MUST TAKE TIME TO RECHARGE BEFORE COMMENCING REVENGE.
Shadow: The stronghold in the Underground, Omega. You can recharge there.
Eggman: I never agreed to allow that faulty machine to--
Shadow: Silence, Eggman. Now.
Omega: I WILL GO TO THE UNDERGROUND TO RECHARGE. YOU WILL FIND ME THERE IF YOU NEED ME.
Shadow: We'll get the Marauders for what they did to you, my friend. Let's get to it. The Marauders must pay.

Eggman: Ah! My old weapons lab! How I've missed this place!
Tails: Looks... ruined.
Eggman: *sniff* It pains my heart to see her this way....
Tails: Let's get to work!
Eggman: Yes. Let's.
Sonic and Knuckles' POV[]
The Team Takes Flight![]
Knuckles: We’ve taken off. Now we just need to take control. It shouldn’t be hard to get to the bridge and take out the captain. Then we can fly this thing ourselves.
Amy (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Right!
Shadow (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM): Let's stop jawing and do it.
Amy (IF SHE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM WITH SHADOW): No need to be rude!
Shadow (IF HE'S ON THE PLAYERS TEAM; CONTINUED): There's no time to be polite.
Tails: Tails calling Sonic! Come in, Sonic!

Tails: We’ve got the parts and are building the weapon.

Tails: Yay! Good luck, team! Tails out!
Knuckles: He’s so cheerful.
Sonic: Let’s make sure he can stay that way.
[Sonic and his team walk up to the top is the airship, where they watch a Marauder walk into a room, then out of the room. The Marauder spots the team and initiates a battle. Sonic and his team win the fight. They receive a Health Leaf and 10 XP as a reward.]
Knuckles: There. The airship is ours.
Amy (if she is on team): All right!
Cream (if she in on team): Yay!
Sonic: Let's go get those Marauder losers!
Knuckles: Let's not celebrate yet. I think the captain hit some sort of alarm. The whole fleet knows we took this ship.
[The camera pans down to three Marauders near the bottom of the airship. The Marauders walk up to the ship's cannon and attack it.]
Sonic: Did you figure that out yourself? Or was that huge boarding party your big clue?
Knuckles: We have to defeat those boarding parties before they bring the ship down!
Sonic: This is going to be fun!
[The team walks down the steps, just in time to see the ship's cannon exploding.]
Knuckles: No! We'll never make it past the fleet without our main weapon!
Sonic: I have an idea. Tails! Come in, Tails!
Tails: Tails here.
Sonic: Our main weapon is down! There's no way we can get past the Marauder fleet! We need ground support!
Tails: Hang on, Sonic! We'll find a way to help!
Sonic: Hurry!
Tails and Eggman's POV[]
Eggman: There. That ought to do it. I have attached our Beam Cannon to this old sky hopper I found. Never before has the world seen such a mighty weapon! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Tails: Eggman, we have to help Sonic!
Eggman: What?!? Again?!?
Tails: They can't get past the airship fleet. We need to sink those enemy ships from here!
Shadow (if he is on team): I knew it.
Rouge (if she is on team): You know what they say about "loose lips."
Eggman: Yes. Well. As always, I know just the thing! Before you so rudely destroyed my city, I bult a massive anti-aircraft cannon in the southern reaches of Metropolis. Of course, I never got a chance to use it, but I happen to know it's still there, and the Marauders have yet to discover it!
Tails: Then we can use it to save Sonic!
Eggman: Yes. It isn't--what was it--"non-lethal"? But it will bring those ships down!
Tails: Let's save the game and go find that cannon!
[The party receives the key item Beam Cannon. After exploring a bit, the party finds the ani-aircraft cannon]
Eggman: My lovely cannon! You're alive!
Tails: We have to hurry!
Eggman: Wait... I seem to remember something about....
[A large robot falls from the sky and walks up to the party.]
Eggman: Ah, yes. I placed a guardian here to protect the cannon! I impress even myself!
Tails: No time to disable the guardian! We have to fight it!
Eggman: Pity.
[The party is then thrown into a battle with the large robot and two GUN drones. The party receives a POW Drink and 10 XP for wining the fight.]
Tails: Whew! That was tough!
Eggman: Yes. They don't make 'em how I used to.
Tails: Let's get this cannon working and clear the skies for Sonic!
[The ani-aircraft fires into the sky several times, then an comic book cutscene plays, then the scene shows Angel Island. It pans down to where Sonic is standing.]
Sonic and Knuckles' POV[]
Knuckles: Argh. We get past the fleet only to get shot down by a cannon on Angel Island itself. Just our luck.
Tails: Sonic! is everything all right?
Sonic: You shot an opening in the fleet, but there was a cannon on Angel Island.
Tails: Oh no!
Sonic: it's okay, Tails. We're all fine here.
Amy (if she is in party): I don't know, Sonic. Look!
[The camera pans to the top right where Ix, Shade, and 4 Marauders are standing outside of a temple. Then a comic book cutscene plays.]
Knuckles: We're going to need help on this one.
Sonic: Tails! Get up here now!
Tails: Copy that! Tails out!
Sonic: Well, let's go.
Knuckles: What are you doing?! We'll be killed!
Sonic: Maybe we can't beat them by ourselves, but we can definitely slow them down until Tails gets here.
[Sonic and the team explore Angel Island until they reach the temple.]
Sonic: Didn't your mommy ever tell you not to take things that don't belong to you?
[The camera pans up a bit so Ix, Shade, and the 4 Marauders next him can be seen a bit better.]
Shade: Master Ix, the hedgehog is here.
[Ix turns around to face Sonic.]
Ix: Fools! Insignificant worms who beg for annihilation.
Knuckles: Leave Shade to me, Sonic.
Ix: So. You feel worthy of combat with my finest warrior, do you? Knuckles, was it? "Last of the Echidnas"? It must be shameful to have been misled all these years.
Sonic: Quit babbling and bring it on!
Ix: Frankly, my hotheaded worm, you are not worthy. Come, my minions. Brush away these motes of dust as I make my victory complete!
[One of the Marauders walks up to the team.]
Knuckles: Power-mad techno-wizards and Nocturnus assassins. It's been good fighting with you, Sonic.
Sonic: Don't get all misty on me, Knuckles. It ain't over yet!
[The team is thrown into a fight against 4 Marauders. Upon winning, the team receives an Antidote and 10XP.]
Tails and Eggman's POV[]
[Back in Metropolis]
Eggman: Sonic got himself into trouble again, did he?
Tails (Default Option): No time to talk. We have to help Sonic!
Tails (Option B): There's no way we can get up there in time!
Tails (Option C): If we could use the teleporter in the underground....
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): Ha ha ha! Again my genius overcomes all! Surely you considered that we could repair the teleporter in the underground and use it to travel to Angel Island.
Rouge (If she is in team): That couldn't possibly have slipped your mind, could it, Tails?
Tails: I... er... I was busy!
Eggman: Yes, I see! We must return to the underground. There I will repair my transporter and send us all straight up to Angel Island!
Tails: Great! Let's go. Sonic needs us!
[After a bit of walking, Tails' team returns to the underground base.]
Eggman: Such adventure! I begin to see why you and Sonic do all this running and jumping and falling off things! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Tails (Default Option): Quick! We have to get to Angel Island!
Tails (Option B): It's not just for the fun of it, Eggman!
Tails (Option C): We did it because we had to stop you!
Eggman (When Default Option is chosen): Oh, come now. Angel Island isn't going anywhere! At least, not anymore! If there's anything we should do here in Metropolis, we have to do it now. Who knows what'll happen on that island!
Eggman: This would also be a good time to... what's that you call it? Save your game, and what not?
Tails (Default Option): Good idea! Let's save!
Tails (Option B): Hm. Maybe it's time to stop with the reminders to save the game.
Eggman (When Default Option is chosen): Of course it's a good idea! It's one of mine!
Tails (Default Option): We're done down here. We have to help Sonic!
Tails (Option B): You're right. We have stuff to do down here.
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): Ha! Of course I was right! Simply come to me when you are ready to teleport to Angel Island. Only I have the proper coordinates for the jump! Your friends will be fine until we get there. I'm sure. Ha ha ha ha ha!
[The team is then kicked out of the underground base.]
Eggman (when reentering the underground base): Now, shall we go and see your friends?
Tails (Default Option): Yes! We have to go now!
Tails (Option B): Hm. We have more to do here. They should be okay.
Eggman (When Option B is chosen): Yes, of course. No hurry. Ha ha ha!
[The team is then kicked out of the underground base. When reentering the base, Eggman says the same thing as before and Tails has the same options.]
Eggman (When Default Option is chosen): Yes. I have put this off as long as I could.
[The camera shows the inside of of the underground base. Eggman walks from the door to a large rectangular box in the bottom right of the room, then he walks over to a tall capsule in the bottom left of the room. Then he walks over to a console in the bottom right of the room, just a little bit more north of the large rectangular box. ]
Eggman: Here we go!
Sonic and Knuckles' POV[]
[Back in Angel Island]
Knuckles: We can't hold out here much longer, Sonic.
Sonic: We'll hold out as long as it takes!
[One of the three Marauders left standing next to Ix, walks up to Sonic, initiating a battle. The battle is against 4 Marauders, upon winning the team gets an Immunity Booster and 10XP.]
Ix: Valiant effort, dustlings. But I can see you're wearing down. I must say, I am impressed. Never before has a civilization failed to kneel before me. It won't be a complete waste to destroy you myself. Come, my Nocturnus! To me!
[The two Marauders left walk up to Ix and Shade.]
Knuckles: We're not ready for this, Sonic....
Sonic: We have to be.
[Comic book cutscene plays. Then Tails walks up the temple stairs to Sonic, Ix and Shade are still standing at the temple's entrance.]
Tails: Sonic!
Sonic: Tails! Just in time!
Ix: More dust to sweep away. Very well, then. Let us see what you've got.
Sonic: Start shaking Ix. Now you've got our full attention.
[Ix walks up to Sonic, the player is then taxed to create a team with Sonic as the lead. After forming the team, they are thrown into a battle against Ix and 2 Marauders. The team receives a Health Root and 10XP for winning.]
Ix: Enough of this! You've fought well, but even you cannot stop me from conquering this world! I have been imprisoned in the Twilight Cage for too long! Soon I will break free and shake the foundation of the universe!
Shade: Imperator Ix... we never discussed conquering this world. We only wanted to return to it! I won't....
[Comic book cutscene]
Ix: I have what I came for, little worms. Now that I have the Master Emerald, no one can stop me! Look well upon your world. Soon it will all be mine!
Sonic: No!
Ix: Ha ha ha ha ha!
[Ix walks into the temple, Sonic fallows after him, then a comic book cutscene plays, then Sonic walks out of the temple]
Sonic: No!
Tails: Sonic! We have to go!
Sonic: No! We have to stop Ix!
Amy: There's no time!
Tails: Everyone! Brace yourselves!
[Sonic runs down the temple stairs, the ground starts shaking, causing Sonic to fall over. A comic book cutscene plays, thus begins the next chapter.]
Chapter 6: Black Hole Sun[]

[The camera pans up to where Sonic is, he's laying on the ground with Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Shade standing around him, looking at him. Sonic stands up]
Sonic: Is everyone okay?
Amy: A little... shaken up... but we're here.
Tails: What happened?
Sonic: Ix got away. He took the Master Emerald.
Knuckles: Without the Emerald, Angel Island fell. We've lost. Ix has won.
Sonic: We can't give up! We have to....
Amy: Look!
[Amy walks up to the top of the screen a bit, then turns to look at Shade.]
Shade: Lord Ix's plan. It has begun. And there's nothing we can do to stop it.
[comic book cutscene]
Shade: Ix has taken the Master Emerald back inside the Twilight Cage. Your world is lost.
Sonic (Default Option): We'll find a way to stop him.
Sonic (Option B): What is Ix up to? Why does he need the Emeralds?
Sonic (Option C): Why should we believe anything you say?
Shade (When Option C is chosen): I thought I was helping my people return from exile. I didn't know Lord Ix planned to conquer this world. I... I was blind. I can't expect you to believe me. I just want a chance to get back at Lord Ix for using my people as a weapon.
Shade (When Option B is chosen): Ix hoped to use their power to return our clan to this world. At least, that was what he told us. Now I know he is using my people for his own selfish ends.
Knuckles: Then the legends are true.
Shade: It would seem so, although I have never heard them.
Sonic (Default Option): We'll find a way to stop Ix.
Sonic (Option B): What legends?
Sonic (Option C): But you and your people got here without the Master Emerald.
Sonic (Option D): Why did he move Angel Island?
Knuckles (When Option B is chosen): The Nocturnus Clan of echidnas ruled much of the world some 4000 years ago. They were only rivaled by my ancestors, led by Pachacamac. The Nocturnus Clan disappeared not long after Perfect Chaos nearly destroyed my people. We always thought Perfect Chaos destroyed them, too.
Shade: Perfect Chaos was Pachacamac's doing. Your clan paid the price for unleashing its anger, but my clan was spared. With our greatest rivals, the Nocturnus Clan nearly colonized the rest of the world. Then we were exiled to the Twilight Cage.
Amy: Wait... Shade is 4000 years old?
Rouge: You always were into older women, eh, Knuckles?
Knuckles: So now Ix has taken the Master Emerald as part of his plan to conquer the world.
Sonic (Default Option): We'll find a way to stop Ix.
Sonic (Option B): How did the Marauders get here without the Master Emerald?
Sonic (Option C): Why did he move Angel Island?
Shade (When Option B is chosen): Technology overcomes all obstacles. Our warp belts create bubbles of space around us. Within that bubble, it's as if we never left the Twilight Cage. Unfortunately, it isn't perfect. Eventually the warp bubbles wear off, and we must return. To truly cross into this world, Ix needed to open the wormhole. And to do that, he needed the Master Emerald.
Sonic (Default Option): We have to find a way to stop him.
Sonic (Option B): What about these "legends" you spoke about?
Sonic (Option C): Why did he need the other Chaos Emeralds?
Shade (When Default Option is chosen): Yes. We must.
Tails: Hm. A wormhole in the sky, directly above Metropolis....
Eggman: My lab filled with old starship parts, just waiting to be put to good use....
Tails: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Eggman: Oh, most certainly!
Rouge: Oh please. This isn't the time for nerd bonding.
Sonic: What are you two going on about?
Eggman: Well, being the utterly unparalleled genius I am, I happen to have set aside rocket parts for just this sort of occasion. I've designed them to be simple enough that even Tails here could help me put them together!
Amy: And this will work for sure?
Eggman: Absolutely! I even have a Dimensional Buffer stored away! Perfect!
Sonic (Default Option): Then let's get that rocket built!
Sonic (Option B): You just happen to have these parts lying around?
Sonic (Option C): It can't be this easy.
Eggman (When Default Option is chosen): Of course! It should be simple. There is the small matter that a massive floating island crashed into my city, knocking out my power grid! My lovely, beautiful power grid!
Tails: So even if we got all the parts for the ship, we couldn't put it together without power.
Eggman: Oh, and it seems the crash has broken open my Hazard Vault. So, I wouldn't worry too much, but it's likely that mad robots are running amuck as we speak.
Rouge: Oh. Is that all?
Tails: Sonic, Eggman and I will go to his lab and start gathering parts. If you can get the power grid back up, we can get the spaceship up and ready in no time!
Shade: I will go with the hedgehog.
Amy: Oh no you don't! You stay away from him, witch!
Shade: Please I wish to be of use.
Sonic (Default Option): Then we have a plan. Let's get moving!
Sonic (Option B): What was in the Hazard Vault?
Sonic (Option C): I don't want to work with Shade.
Tails (When Default Option is chosen): Yeah!
Eggman: There are three generators that supply power to my lab. I'll mark them on your map. If you can activate them all, then I... er, WE can get to work on that spaceship.
Shade: We will not fail.
Amy: ....
Tails: Good luck, Sonic.
[The player is then taxed with making a team with Sonic and Shade in it, Tails and Eggman are not options. After forming the team, they heard down and to the left a bit until they find a destroyed warehouse. Then jump into the warehouse through the broken celling. Inside they find a generator and turn it on.]
Sonic: Tails, we activated one of the generators.
Tails: Good! Now just to find the other two! Tails out!
[The team then exist the warehouse. After a bit more exploring of Metropolis Ground Zero, the team finds another warehouse, inside is a generator that looks like a large computer. The team turns it on.]
Sonic: Tails, there goes the second generator.
Tails: One more, and we can build this spaceship!
Shade: You impress me, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic (Default Option): There's no time for flattery, Shade.
Sonic (Option B): Why is that?
Sonic (Option C): You're not so bad yourself.
Sonic (Option D): We are not friends, Shade.
Shade (When Option B is chosen): I worked with Lord Ix for a very long time. He has led my people for as long as we can remember. But faced with his wrath, you and your friends stand up against him. You risk everything in a desperate attempt to stop him. I find that... inspiring.
Sonic (Default Option): It's just what we do.
Sonic (Option B): I consider all this to be your fault, Shade.
Sonic (Option C): Is he really that powerful?
Shade (When Option C is chosen): He is. And as powerful as Lord Ix is alone, he is surrounded by advanced technology and the finest warriors of my clan. We have a difficult fight ahead of us, Sonic. I go with you knowing that Ix will most likely kill me.
Shade: We have a lot to do. Let's go.
[The team leaves the warehouse. After a bit more exploring of Metropolis Ground Zero, the team finds another generator and turns it on.]
Shade: Finally. The last generator.
Sonic: That ought to do it. Let's get back to Tails.
Tails: Sonic, we have power! But there's a problem. Eggman's Dimensional Buffer is in the Hazard Vault. Without that, the spaceship would never withstand the rigors of dimensional travel!
Sonic (Default Option): Then we're on our way!
Sonic (Option B): Anything we should be looking out for?
Sonic (Option C): Why doesn't Eggman go get it himself?
Tails (When Option C is chosen): We're not quite done getting the ship together. If you can get the last part, we can get all this done sooner.
Tails (When Option B is chosen): Eggman says he thinks most of the robots will have escaped already. It should be a matter of just going in and getting the part!
Sonic (Default Option): Then we're on our way!
Sonic (Option B): Why do I doubt it'll be that easy?
Tails (When Option B is chosen): I'm sure you can handle anything else that's in there!
Tails (When Default Option is chosen): Great! Once we have the Dimensional Buffer, we can take off after Ix!
[The team then leaves the warehouse. They then take a set of springs to get higher up and encounter the entrance to the Vault.]
Shade: This must be the Hazard Vault.
Sonic: Let's go. The part we need is inside.
[They enter the vault, and walk to the center of it.]
Shade: This should be easy enough. This place looks pretty empty.
[A robot duplicate of Eggman walks up to the party.]
Egg bot: Ha ha ha ha ha! *bzt* I am *bzt* free! Free to destroy!
Sonic (Default Option); Let's take it down, team!
Sonic (Option B): Ugh! A robot Eggman. Disgusting!
Sonic (Option C) ; What in the world are you?
Egg bot (When Option C is chosen): *bzt* Beauty.... Genius.... *bzt* Perfect creation! None... *bzt* in my way... *bzt* None *bzt* defeat me! Ha ha ha ha ha!
[The party is thrown into a battle against Egg bot and two Assault Drones. They get the key item Dimensional Buffer and 10XP for winning.]
Tails: Sonic! Are you okay?
Sonic: We're fine. Just had to deal with one of Eggman's old friends.
Eggman: He was such a handsome devil. *sniff*
Sonic: We have the Dimensional Buffer now. We should be ready to go.
Tails: Great! Meet us in Eggman's lab, and we'll get everything ready! Tails out!
[The party walks back to Eggman's lab and talks to Tails.]
Tails: Okay! I think we're all set to go! We have a few minutes before the dimensional window cycles around.
Tails; This would be a great time to save your game if you haven't saved in a while.
Sonic (Default Option): There's no time to waste. Let's go!
Sonic (Option B): I'll only need a moment.
Sonic (Option C): How do you feel about all this?
Sonic (Option D): Stop telling me to save the game, Tails.
Tails (When Option B is chosen): Sure. Take your time. Come talk to me when you're ready to go.

Zoah: This is Zoah Command, over.
Tails: We're ready to go!
Zoah: Affirmative. Fire rocket cannon on my mark. Three... Two... One... Mark!
[Describe cutscene]
Sonic: Now, Tails! Go!
Amy: It's closing!
Sonic: Faster!
Tails: I can't!
Amy: We're not going to make it! Turn back!
Tails: I... can't....
Sonic: Tails! We can do this. We have to!
Tails: I... I'll try....
[Describe cutscene]
Tails: We did it!
Amy: Yay!
Sonic: Find a place to land, Tails... and quickly!
Tails: Right! Everyone, hold on!
Landing[]
[Tails lands the Blue Cyclone, just barely]
Tails: Whew! That was a close one! I hate to say it, but the repulsor field closed up behind us. I think we’re stuck here.
Rouge: Oh, great. Mama always told me that one day I’d get stuck in an alien dimension without a change of clothes.
Beating Ix Round 3[]
[]
Ix: No! It can't be!
Sonic: I'm afraid so, Ix. It's over.
Ix: Not yet, Sonic the Hedgehog. This old man still has one more trick!
Ix: I summon the ultimate power of the Nocturnus! The power of the Nocture itself!
[A bright flash of light comes over the area before Ix is revealed to be in a super form]
Knuckles: What the--
Ix: Ha ha ha ha! Insignificant fools! Come! Face me now!
Tails: Sonic... he's too powerful. We can't beat him like this!
Sonic: I have an idea. If he can use the power of the Emeralds, then so can I!
Tails: Yes! You can become Super Sonic!
Sonic: Everyone get back! Now!
Tails: You've done it now, Ix! Super Sonic's gonna take you down!
[Sonic jumps in the air and harnesses the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds before ttransforming into Super Sonic]
Imperator Ix: Finally. A worthy opponent. Let's see what you can do!
After Imperator Ix[]
Sonic: It's over, Ix. You've lost.
Ix: Yes, you have defeated me. You have won the day. But if I can't leave this nightmare prison... then neither will you! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
[Ix then explodes?]
Amy: What did he do?
[The area shakes]
Tails: What's happening?
Shade: Lord Ix activated the shutdown sequence! He's closing the wormhole!
Sonic: Everyone! Grab hold of something!
Amy: Knuckles! What do we do? We're doomed!
Tails: Maybe not! Our ride's here!
Sonic: Everyone! To the Cyclone!
Returning Home[]
[Everyone boards the Cyclone and the team escapes from the Twilight Space]
Tails: Everyone make it aboard?
Sonic: We're all here.
Amy: Brilliant, Tails. I didn't know the Cyclone could do that!
Tails: Hey, Eggman and I designed this ship ourselves! She'll surprise you!
Knuckles: Well done!
Amy: And we stopped Ix! Our world is saved!
Knuckles: Yeah, now we just have to get back there.
Tails: Everyone hang on. I'm working on that!
[The Blue Cyclone flies back to Earth, into the middle of Eggman's new Metropolis. Spotlights shine on the ship.]
Eggman: Welcome back, team. You've been gone a long time... might've been better if you hadn't returned. But I was hoping you would.
Ending[]
Tails: Wow! Do you believe that ending?
Sonic: Seriously! It looks like we're done for!
Tails: At the hands of Eggman, no less! I can't believe he'd turn on us like that!
Sonic: Yeah. Surprise, surprise.
Tails: My biggest concern is how he could have built up such an army so quickly. We weren't gone very long!
Sonic: I didn't recognize the world when we got back. It looked as if we'd been gone for years!
Tails: I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of things... if we manage to survive that crash!
Sonic: Good point. I guess we'll have to wait for the next episode.
