Goofs[]
In Sonic Advance 2: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, several statements presented are erroneous.
Chapter | Subsection | Page(s) | Error |
---|---|---|---|
Prologue | Sonic The Hedgehog | 3 | Despite the Early Sonic canon being phased out years prior to the guidebook's release, on page 3, the book uses "Mobius" (misspelled as "Moebius") to refer to the planet which the original Sonic the Hedgehog takes place on. |
Sonic CD | The book erroneously claims that Sonic collects the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, as opposed to the Time Stones. | ||
The book refers to Amy Rose as "Sonic's girlfriend". While Amy is Sonic's self-proclaimed girlfriend, whether Sonic himself considers Amy his girlfriend is a point left ambiguous. | |||
Sonic Jam | 4 | The book describes Sonic Jam as the "first Sonic compilation". This is untrue, as both Sonic Compilation and Sonic & Knuckles Collection predate it. | |
Sonic Adventure | The book states that Chao first appeared in NiGHTS Into Dreams, prior to appearing in Sonic Adventure. While Chao are an evolution of the Nightopian A-life system from Nights, Chao themselves did not appear in the game. | ||
Sonic Pocket | The book states Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure had link-up capabilities with Sonic Adventure. This is untrue, although copies of Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure can be linked together through a link cable. | ||
Introduction | Robotnik Strikes Back...Again! | 6 | In the book's summary of Sonic Advance 2's plot, Knuckles is stated to have been kidnapped by Dr. Eggman. In-game, however, it is explained that Eggman instead tricked Knuckles into attacking Sonic and his friends. |
The Heroes (Plus One) | Fast Facts | 15 | The book states Sonic was initially created with only one set of spines, and the other spines were added later on as a redesign. This is untrue, as the depiction of Sonic with a single row of spines was an edited appearance made to carter towards for North American audiences, while Japanese territories always depicted the character with six spines on the back of his head. |
Sky Canyon | 76 | Bunnie Rabbot's name is misspelled as "Bunnie Rabot" |
Trivia[]
- On page 100, the guide states "One of the Sonic titles was to have a boss that featured a hedgehog with a flaming skull but Sega nixed it because "you don't show Sonic's skeleton."" It is unknown which Sonic title the book refers to in the statement.
- Of note is that Sonic the Hedgehog CD features unused graphics of Sonic being electrocuted, showing his skeleton. An early version of the opening cutscene for Sonic Unleashed also shows Sonic's skeleton while electrocuted. The book's claim that Sega did not want Sonic's skeleton to be shown possibly explains the exclusion of it in both games where it was planned to appear.
