Sonic & Friends (ソニック&フレンズ Sonikku & Furenzu?) is a Japanese CGI-animated web series developed by Sega, based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a series of shorts uploaded to the social media platform TikTok, on the official Sega account.
Aimed at children, the series is composed of short animations about the cute "chibi" versions of Sonic the Hedgehog, his friends Tails, Knuckles and Amy, and the evil Dr. Eggman.
Production[]
On July 3, 2023, a trademark for the title "SONIC & FRIENDS" was filed by Sega.[1] It was, however, unspecified what it was for. A logo for this title was trademarked as well, on July 27.[2]
On August 7, 2023, Sega officially announced the series with a teaser uploaded to their TikTok account, captioned "SONIC&FRIENDS START!!".[3]
A second teaser clip was later uploaded on August 14,[4] followed by a third one on August 21[5] and a fourth on August 28.[6] Finally, a fifth and final teaser clip was uploaded on September 4.[7]
On September 11, the first official clip of the actual series not being a teaser was uploaded,[8] with the second following on September 18,[9] and the third on September 25.[10]

Trivia[]
A wallpaper for mobile devices of various characters in the "cute" style
- The series uses the "cute" character design style that has been used for merchandise since 2017.
- In the original trailer for the series, Amy's legs were portrayed as tan, like her arms and muzzle. This was fixed when the first episode was released.
