It can be assumed that Dr. Eggman created the Solaris prototype based on Soleanna's previous research to control time in the Solaris Project.[2][3] The Solaris prototype was located in Eggman's base in White Acropolis.
After proposing a deal with Sonic to trade Princess Elise for a Chaos Emerald, Dr. Eggman secretly led Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles into the chamber for the Solaris prototype. He stood in a control room with Elise, ordering Sonic to place the Emerald on a pedestal. Once he did so, Eggman activated the Solaris prototype, trapping the trio with a barrier and sucking them upwards as they vanished into the future. Afterwards, he admitted to Elise that he didn't control nor know what time period it sent them to, as the machine was incomplete, but boasted that with the Solaris prototype and the power of the Chaos Emeralds and the Flames of Disaster, he would be able to control time itself and rule the world.[1][4]
