The Sol Emeralds are a set of gems from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series and its spin-offs. They are seven mystical gems from the Sol Zone and the dimensional equivalence to the Chaos Emeralds from the Prime Zone. They are protected by Blaze the Cat, their destined guardian.

The Sol Emeralds hold a vital role in maintaining the Sol Zone, and the zone itself will grow unstable should the emeralds go missing.

History

Loses and Reclaims

For an unprecedented amount of time, the Sol Emeralds has been guarded by Blaze the Cat. At some point, they somehow disappeared and were scattered, with many of them becoming lost in the multiverse due to Dr. Eggman Nega's conquest, leading to Blaze beginning a search to find them or risk the end of her world. Due to her connection to the gems, the Sol Emeralds gave Blaze visions in her dreams that showed her who to seek out to find them.

After Blaze helped Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Marine the Raccoon retrieve Mobius Prime's green Chaos Emerald from Johnny, Captain Whisker and Dr. Eggman Nega, she received the Chaos Emerald from Sonic to aid in her search for the Sol Emeralds. With the Chaos Emerald, Blaze managed to locate a few of the Sol Emeralds, before passing it onto Shadow the Hedgehog when he arrived in the Sol Zone, stating that she could find the remaining Sol Emeralds with the power of the ones she had already found.

Treasure Team Tango

Some time later, Dr. Nega came into possession of the cyan Sol Emerald, which became secured in a capsule that masked its energy signature. When Dr. Nega was chased to Mobius Prime by the Zone Cops, the capsule containing the cyan Sol Emerald was shot off Dr. Nega's vehicle and was lost. Using the grey Sol Emerald to track the cyan Sol Emerald down, Blaze eventually arrived on Mobius Prime to retrieve it. Shortly after arriving, she was joined in her quest by Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit, and Cheese, forming Team Rose.

When they finally found the cyan Sol Emerald, however, things soon escalated to an all-out brawl between Team Rose, Team Dark and Team Hooligan over the possession of the cyan Sol Emerald. When Team Hooligan tried to escape with the cyan Sol Emerald, the three teams were joined by the Babylon Rogues as well, who also wanted the cyan Sol Emerald. After a prolonged battle between the four teams, Blaze ultimately managed to regain her possession of the cyan Sol Emerald. Blaze then left Prime Zone to continue her search for the remaining Sol Emeralds.

Pirate Plunder Panic

After leaving Mobius Prime, Blaze managed to locate and retrieve more of the Sol Emeralds, eventually only having one left to find, which was the red Sol Emerald. The last Sol Emerald was at some point found by Captain Metal of the Blackguard Pirates. Not leaving the red Sol Emerald out of his sight, Captain Metal planned to use the Sol Emerald and as well the others to power his Egg O' War and use it to conquer the seas, skies and even other zone. After a week's search, with help from Amy, Cream, Marine and the Coconut Crew, Blaze managed to track the last Sol Emerald to the Blackguard Pirates' location in the Ocean Tornado. However, when Blaze boarded Captain Metal's ship to retrieve the emerald from Captain Metal, she ended up being knocked out, and the Ocean Tornado was blown to pieces.

Powers and traits

The Sol Emeralds have similar properties to that of the Chaos Emeralds. They possess large amounts of unknown energies which can be harnessed from each emerald by both living creatures and machines, and with all seven, they can induce a super transformation. They appear to possess traits of fire powers, as they can burst into flames and can give off fire. However, the Sol Emeralds' can only be controlled by Blaze, and are therefore useless in the hands of others. They are also quite durable as even when hit by a gun shot, the cyan Sol Emerald did not receive a scratch.

The Sol Emeralds have a close connection to the Sol Zone and give life to the entire Zone. Without the Sol Emeralds to support it, the Sol Zone will grow unstable and eventually die, with storms starting to manifest, and will ultimate culminate in the oceans boiling, the islands sinking into the seas and the sky falling.

Despite appearing as objects, the Sol Emeralds are sentient and have a will of their own, which allows them to act on their own accord to a limited extend, such as calling Amy and Cream to the Sol Zone.[1]

Trivia

  • Sol Emeralds first comics

The Sol Emeralds in the first appearance in the comics.

In the Sonic Rush series, the Sol Emeralds are revealed to be the dimensional counterparts to the Chaos Emeralds and look exactly like them, except for the fact that they're emerald cut instead of brilliant cut. In their early appearances in the comics, they are brilliant cut like all the other Chaos Emeralds. In recent comics, they appear like their game counterparts.

  • It is possible that Dr. Nega and the pirate crew of Captain Whisker were somehow involved with the disappearance of the Sol Emeralds and that was why Blaze had dreams about the doctor.
