A mysterious island floating in the sky. It's actually a dream world created by Eggman! It's really strange that there are statues of Eggman here and there on the island. Be careful not to fall...!

— Description, Sonic Chaos[1]

Sleeping Egg Zone (スリーピングエッグ・ゾーン[1] Surīpingu Eggu Zōn?) is the third Zone of Sonic Chaos. In keeping with the other stages of this game, Sleeping Egg consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the boss.

Description[]

Sleeping Egg Zone is a dream world created by Dr. Robotnik, taking place on a mysterious floating island in the sky.[1] It features many breakable blocks and tiles with the scientist's image chiseled into them.

Story[]

Gameplay[]

There are industrial-strength pogo springs scattered throughout the level, which the heroes can use for bouncing up to otherwise inaccessible areas.

The greatest danger in Sleeping Egg Zone comes not from the Badniks or other hazards, but rather falling off the screen in one of the many yawning, bottomless voids that litter the stage.

Overview[]

Act 1[]

Act 2[]

Act 3[]

Boss[]

Main article: Bouncy Boss Robot
SleepingEggBoss

The Bouncy Boss Robot, from Sonic Chaos.

Sleeping Egg Zone's boss is (in keeping with the pogo spring theme of the level) a bouncing, gun-toting, Robotnik-look-a-like robot. This machine can actually provide some problems, as only the head is vulnerable, and the speed of its bouncing is such that landing a strike takes some work. All the while, the boss' cannon spits bullets in Sonic or Tails's direction.

Trivia[]

  • Sleeping Egg Zone appears on the US/EU Game Gear box artwork for Sonic Chaos.
