The Sky High Zone is the second zone of the Game Gear/Master System Sonic 2. It follows Under Ground Zone and precedes Aqua Lake Zone. As with all other stages in this game, Sky High Zone consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the Zone's boss.
Sky High Zone, as the name suggests, is an exposed and windswept location, always somewhat cloudy and prone to extreme storms more often than you'd like. An abundance of wayward zephyrs throughout this zone makes hang-gliding extremely dangerous.
Boss
Sky High Zone's boss is Gachau Mecha, a bird-like robot. First, Sonic has to vanquish a horde of mini bouncing bird badniks, at which point he drops through the clouds to smash the cybernetic eggs which create them.
Only when its nest has been destroyed does the boss rear its chrome-plated head. It proceeds to fire energy balls in Sonic's direction, which possess a limited degree of homing.
