Race over collapsing bridges and grab lots of Rings while you can. Springs bounce you through underground passages, then send you toward the clouds. Grab a hang glider and ride the storm winds over deadly spikes.

Sky High Zone (スカイハイ[2] Sukaihai?, lit. "Sky High") is the second Zone in the Master System and Game Gear game Sonic the Hedgehog 2. As with all other Zones in the game, Sky High Zone consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the Zone's boss.

Description

Sky High Zone, as the name suggests, is an exposed and windswept location, always somewhat cloudy and prone to extreme storms very often.

Story

Gameplay

An abundance of wayward zephyrs throughout this zone makes hang-gliding extremely dangerous.

Act 3

Boss

Main article: Goose Mecha

The boss, Goose Mecha

Sky High Zone's boss is Goose Mecha, a bird-like robot. First, Sonic has to vanquish a horde of miniature bouncing bird Badniks, at which point he drops through the clouds to smash the cybernetic eggs which create them.

Only when its nest has been destroyed does the boss rear its chrome-plated head. It proceeds to fire energy balls in Sonic's direction, which possess a limited degree of homing.

Trivia

  • At the top left corner of Act 1, there is an extra Life monitor located around fir trees. Peculiarly, in this area, yellow ducks will emerge from the trees and leave the Zone to the left.
  • On the title card for this Zone, Tails is missing his twin-tails.
