Skorp[1] (スコープ[2] Sukōpu?) is an enemy that appears in Sonic & Knuckles. It is a mass-produced, scorpion-based Badnik model created by Dr. Robotnik.

The Skorps are orange, black, and gray robots resembling a cross between a scorpion and a tank. On each side of their body they have a caterpillar track for moving around and claws resembling that of a scorpion's. They also have round black faces with orange plating on top and a skorpion-like tail on the middle of their back that consists of several connected spheres and a mace at the tip.

Game appearances

Sonic & Knuckles

In Sonic & Knuckles and the lock-on game Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, Skorps are only found in Sandopolis Zone. In gameplay, they attack with the mace on their tails. When the playable character is in attacking range, they will rear up their tail and take a swing at the player before retracting it to attack again. Skorps are often found atop ledges that the player must cross, making avoiding their attacks and defeating them fairly difficult.

It is advised to time the playable characters' attacks just right when fighting a Skorp.[3] The player's best option is to attack a Skrop quickly with the Spin Attack or Spin Dash just as it pulls back its mace to attack again. A Spin Jump often ends in misery for the player as it invariably results in the Skorps' mace hitting the playable character.

Sonic Rivals

In Sonic Rivals, Skorp appears as collectible card.

Archie Comics

A Skorp in the Archie Comics.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Skorp first appeared as one of Dr. Eggman's Badniks in the timeline he and Dr. Wily created with the Genesis Wave. After the continuity was rebooted due to the Super Genesis Wave, the Skorps' history became nearly identical to that of their game counterparts'.
