Rouge directs a shrill scream at her foe, leaving the target sluggish.

— Description, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood[1]

Shriek (ちょう音波 Chō onpa?, lit. "Supersonic Wave") is a POW move used by Rouge the Bat in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. When performing this move, Rouge shrieks at her opponents, leaving them sluggish.

When performing Shriek, Rouge moves up in front of her opponent, where she then releases a shrill, ultrasonic scream, which takes the form of several white rings emitting from her mouth, that she directs at the opponent. After that, Rouge retreats to her team position.

In gameplay, when performing Shriek, the player is able to inflict sluggish on a single enemy on the opposing side of the battlefield. The higher the level of Shriek is, the greater the sluggish status effect it will have on the opponents it inflicts.

Real-Time Interaction[]

When performing Shriek in gameplay, the player has to complete a series of real-time events by performing certain actions on the Touch Screen, in order to execute Shriek optimally:

  1. The player has to touch the inside of four circles in succession when the outer circles overlap the inner circles.
  2. The player has to touch and stay inside the outer circle that appears when it overlaps the inner circle and follow it horizontally across the middle of the screen, from left to right.

Missing or not touching these circles correctly will result in Rouge failing to perform Shriek.

Level PP Cost Damage Effect
I 4 No damage Sluggish 1
II 4 No damage Sluggish 2
III 4 No damage Sluggish 3

  • Shriek is a reference to Rouge's nature as a bat, as real-life bats use ultrasonic waves to navigate.
