Shogaku Ninensei is a study magazine and manga anthology aimed at children in the second grade of Japanese elementary education (age 7-8). It is part of the series Shogakukan no Gakushuuzasshi, published by Shogakukan. Between the April 1992 and August 1993 issues it featured Sonic the Hedgehog manga stories, based upon an original concept by Kenji Terada.

The April 1992 issue of the magazine included the very first Sonic story based on this concept, which was also the very first Sonic comic story not produced by Sega (the only previous comics having been the US promotional comic and the Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog Story Comic). It was written and illustrated by Sango Morimoto.
