Shinichi Higashi (東 真一?) (aka Touma), is a well known free lance figure artist and character designer, who lives in Japan. He worked for Sega for ten years until 2002. According to an interview with Artoyz.com, Touma confirmed that he created and designed Fang the Sniper as his first professional character for Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. Touma got interested in Sega's blue mascot while he was studying in Art school to become a character designer. He then went to interview with Sega and got hired. Touma worked in many departments, including at Sonic Team.[1]
After leaving Sega, Touma then became a free lance figure artist, participated actively in art events to release his works in Japan and established TOUMART Inc. in 2005.[2] Many of his famous works include the wildly-popular Knuckle Bear vinyl figure range from 2003, Skuttle, Talons, Snout, Hell Hounds, BOO and many more.[3]
