Shinichi Higashi (東 真一 Higashi Shin'ichi?), aka Touma, is a well-known, freelance figure artist and character designer who created Fang the Sniper, later referred to as Fang the Hunter.[2] He was hired by Sega for game development and briefly worked with Aspect. He would assist Sonic Team with the development of Sonic Jam and Sonic Adventure before leaving and becoming a Toy Designer.
History[]
Shinichi Higashi worked for Sega for ten years until 2002. While working for Sega, Higashi would also work with Aspect on the development of Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, where he would create his first professional character concept, Fang the Sniper.
As a student, Higashi got interested in Sega's blue mascot while he was studying in Art school to become a character designer. Sometime later, he would find himself in an interview held by Sega and got hired. Higashi worked in many departments, including at Sonic Team.[1]
After leaving Sega, Higashi then became a freelance figure artist, participated actively in art events to release his works in Japan and established TOUMART Inc. in 2005.[3] Many of his famous works include the wildly-popular Knuckle Bear vinyl figure range from 2003, Skuttle, Talons, Snout, Hell Hounds, BOO and many more.[4]
