The Shattercraft[1] is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic Prime television series. It is an advanced plane[2] owned and created by Nine, which can travel throughout the Shatterverse via its integrated Shatter Drive.

When Sonic was describing Tails to Nine for the first time, he mentioned that he had "the coolest plane",[3] later inspiring Nine to build one of his own. After stealing the New Yoke City Shard and an attempt to test the Shatter Drive technology, he escaped the Shatterspace and used the Shattercraft to explore the Shatterverse in hope for a fresh start, later finding The Grim.[4] Similarly to the Tornado plane, Sonic occasionally tends to ride on the outside of the vehicle, but Nine is always the one piloting it.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Shattercraft, despite being considered a plane, has an appearance that more closely resembles a spaceship. It has a color scheme of red and grey and looks a little rusted in some areas. It has two thrusters at the back and a fin on each side that fold for landing. It also shows a few exposed cogs, as well as some scratches across the vehicle. The wings of the plane also fold up for landing.

Features and abilities[]

The Shattercraft, as well as functioning like a spaceship, has the unique ability to open portals through Shatterspaces, as well as fire lasers that match the power of the Chaos Council's mech suits. It is also Nine's way of storing the Shatter Drive technology, as well as the New Yoke City shard.

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

After stealing the New Yoke City Shard from the Chaos Council, he retreated back to his lab in New Yoke City, where he created the Shattercraft in an attempt to harness the Shard's power. Before he could properly test it however, he was found by the Eggforcers, which left him no choice but to open a portal inside of his workshop and escape with the plane. During the Shattercraft's first flight, however, it came in contact with debris floating around in the Void, causing him to make an emergency landing in The Grim.

Later on, when the Rebels and Sonic the Hedgehog were about to surrender to the Chaos Council, Nine entered New Yoke again in hopes of locating Sonic and telling him about his findings. Noticing that they were in trouble, he assisted in using the Shattercraft to destroy some of the Eggforcers as Sonic brought Rebels to safety. He then flew on ahead, allowing Sonic to jump into the plane and opened a portal into the Void again. There, he listened to Sonic's story of where he had been, confirming everything he had discovered.

He later landed in The Grim once again to show Sonic what he had found. Nine then offered Sonic a place in his new life in the Grim. Sonic refused, as he claimed he should have been assisting the Rebels to fight back. Nine agreed to send Sonic back to New Yoke, using the Shattercraft's portal creation ability to send him back. A little while later, Nine convinced himself to help the Resistance and returned yet again to New Yoke. He helped take down some Eggforcers with the Shattercraft, but after a fight with the Council themselves, he got distracted by the launch of the Yoke HQ, allowing Mr. Dr. Eggman to shoot one of the back thrusters, which lead to Nine and the Shattercraft's capture and the Shard was reclaimed by the Council.

Season two[]

Nine and Sonic were able to reclaim the Shattercraft and used it to escape the Council and head to the Void to get to Ghost Hill, using the blue Shard as its power source. However, it was shot down by Dr. Deep and Dr. Done-it in the Yolkomotive.
