The Shatter Drive is an object that appears in the Sonic Prime television series. It is a type of technology that Nine developed from the schematics of the Chaos Council's schematics for their power core. It allows anyone to harness the power of one or multiple Prism Shards, as well as their combined form, the Paradox Prism.

Description[]

The Shatter Drive has a circular base with six flat-topped tips and a yellow and black stripe wrapped around it. It's a mechanical device that was inspired by the purpose and the design of the power core that the Chaos Council was using to harness the energy of the red Shard of the Paradox Prism.

Usage/History[]

The Shatter Drive, like the Chaos Council's power core, was designed to initially harness the power of the red Prism Shard, but, unlike the power core, Nine would make it so that he could access the Shard's ability to open portals to the Shatterverse and its Void via his Shattercraft.

When the Chaos Council captured Nine and the Shattercraft, they were able to make one of their own, which they used to send Rusty Rose, some Eggforcers and the Kraken to another Shatterspace to start stealing the other Shards. Before each Shard was added in, Nine was forced to upgrade it to contain more energy.

Upon their return to New Yoke City, the Chaos Council used the power of the red, green and blue Shards to reform destroyed Eggforcers into Jumbo Eggforcers, as well as to create buildings in the Boscage Maze and No Place, which was part of Operation: Chaos Terraformation.

When Nine discovered the purple Shard in The Grim, he used it to make two more Shatter Drives, and he put the purple and red Shards on top of one, making him the first to discover that putting the Shards near each other increases the total power output of them, therefore making each of them (and possibly their individual powers) stronger.

Upon Nine stealing the three Shards that he and Sonic brought to Ghost Hill in their makeshift Shard Case, including the yellow one, he put them alongside the purple one in the awaiting Shatter Drive. Once he put them all together in the correct alignment, the Paradox Prism was reformed, allowing Nine to use its immense power to form the Citadel, create a forcefield over it by firing Prism Energy into the Prism itself and create the Alphas: Alpha Grim Sonic, Alpha Grim Amy, Alpha Grim Knuckles, Alpha Grim Rouge and Alpha Grim Birdie.

After the big battle in the Grim and the Grim itself being reduced to nothing but just the Citadel that was protected by the forcefield, Sonic would use the other Shatter Drive in Nine's lab to give up his Prism Energy, which was redirected to the Paradox Prism, making the seam lines that outlined each Shard retreated towards the center, finally stabilizing and finishing the Paradox Prism. Nine would use the main Shatter Drive to send the Chaos Council far into the Void, and then to restore the other Shatterspaces and their Gateways, transforming the newly restored Ghost Hill into Green Hill, presumably due to the Paradox Prism transporting from the Shatter Drive it was on into Green Hill. This thus made all Shatter Drives practically useless, as no more sources of Prism Energy were present in the Shatterverse.
