The Sharp Shelter is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Sharp Shelter's icon takes the form of brown pillar-like vines.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Sharp Shelter can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Boscage Maze Sonic . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Sharp Shelter if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy if she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Sharp Shelter by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, this item will spring the tree at directly ahead of the current position for the player rival(s). If a character touches one of these trees, they will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. In addition, characters who have hit a pillar will be entangled by multicolored flowers for several seconds that will make them lose speed every time they switch lanes. To avoid the Sharp Shelter, the playable character has to step out of its lane.
If the user makes contact with their Sharp Shelter's tree instead however, they will be granted a green shield with leaves surround.
The Sharp Shelter can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6 and 12 respectively. When the user is upgraded to level 6, the player increases the damage of the Sharp Shelter, and when the user is upgraded to level 12, the Sharp Shelter's trees will appear in front of more rivals when used.
