Shadow the Hedgehog is the boss of Shadow Canyons and the second boss of Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. He is encountered in Shadow Canyons Race, which becomes available after clearing Shadow Canyons and obtaining eleven Sonic Badges, and is fought with Sonic the Hedgehog.

The fight is a race against Shadow the Hedgehog. To beat Shadow, the player must reach the finish line before Shadow using the Enerbeam Swings, Boost Pads, and Bounce Pads. However, these gimmicks can also be used by Shadow. Additionally, there are a few shortcuts blocked by dash blocks that the player can blast through with the Air Dash in order to take said paths. Shadow does not use these shortcuts, but he will sometimes use the Air Dash to move higher up.
