This is the script for the storyline of Shadow Generations.

Shadow's Story

[A series of drawn illustrations depicting Shadow's backstory and the events of Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog is shown.]

Narrator: Fifty years ago, aboard the Space Colony ARK, the genius Prof. Gerald Robotnik sought to create the ultimate life form. He called his creation "Shadow". Shadow was raised alongside Gerald's ailing granddaughter, Maria. They were inseparable. A series of tragedies befell the ARK. The military sought to cover everything up.

[A gunshot is heard as the scene shows Maria's death.]

Shadow: MARIA!!!

Narrator: They took the lives of Gerald and Maria, and sealed Shadow away. Fifty years later, Shadow was awakened. Filled with anger and sadness, he was haunted by Maria's final words to him.

Maria: Shadow, I beg of you... for all the people, on that planet...

Narrator: Shadow was bent on revenge and sought to destroy the world. At the last moment, Shadow remembered Maria's final wish... to protect her beloved planet and all who lived there. There were more secrets to Shadow's past. Shadow was generated from the DNA of the evil alien conqueror, Black Doom. Shadow didn't understand why Black Doom expected him to be the vanguard for his invasion of Earth. After many battles, Shadow crushed Black Doom and his forces, finally breaking free from his past. Shadow the Hedgehog. The lone, dark warrior who judges the world by his own code. The past will return to haunt him.

Where It All Began

[Scene: Space Colony ARK, 50 years ago.]

[Maria and Gerald enter an experimental room where Shadow is held. Maria eagerly runs inside, wanting to meet her new friend, while Gerald approaches a computer and inputs the command to stop Shadow's stasis.]

Maria: Can we wake him up now? Can I meet him?

Gerald: I believe so, yes. It is time to awaken the Ultimate Lifeform. Welcome to the world, Shadow the Hedgehog.

[Shadow's eyes awaken.]

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK, the present day.]

[An hour after the events of Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings, Shadow has arrived on the ARK, standing in the dark, desolate room he was created. He hears a sound on his comm link, and listens.]

[Scene change: Meadow, day.]

[The scene cuts to Sonic's friends setting up his birthday party. Rouge is in attendance, but has turned her attention away from the preparations to communicate with Shadow.]

Rouge: Shadow? This is Rouge. Do you copy?

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK]

Shadow: Shadow here. I copy.

Rouge: [on-comm] Are you still aboard the ARK?

Shadow: Yes, I arrived at the space colony an hour ago.

[Scene change: Meadow, day.]

Rouge: Well, you're missing the birthday party! I hope you're planning on being here.

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK]

Shadow: I already told you. G.U.N. detected an unusual bio-signature aboard the ARK. I'm not leaving until I eliminate any possible threat.

[Scene change: Meadow, day.]

Rouge: There's free food.

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK]

Shadow: (dismissive grunt)

[Shadow notices a mysterious aura distorting the halls of the ARK. Scowling, he activates his Air Shoes and skates to find the aura getting stronger.

Shadow: There!

[He skates off in pursuit of the signature.]

Space Colony ARK Act 1

[Scene: Space Colony ARK]

[Shadow is seen grinding onto a rail, seemingly chasing an unknown distortion which has been felt. Shadow does not intend on resting until the threat is dealt with.]

Shadow: Finally! I've got you now! I won't let you get away!

[Eventually, Shadow makes it to a hallway leading to the research lab, only for Doom's Eye to show up]

Doom's Eye: Hahaha...

Shadow: You!

[Doom's Eye distorts the ARK before dragging Shadow into the Doom Zone.]

Shadow: Where... am I...?

[Shadow traverses the Doom Zone]

Doom's Eye: We meet again, Shadow the Hedgehog.

[After some more exploration.]

Doom's Eye: My latest creation...

Shadow: This is your doing!? How!?

[Shadow bounces off a spring towards fractaling buildings before Doom's Eye passes. Shadow grits his teeth and gives pursuit.]

Doom's Eye: HUH HA HA HA HA!!!

[Shadow lands on a building and slides down it]

Doom's Eye: The promised time will arrive once more...

[Shadow nears the end of the building]

Doom's Eye: ...you cannot deny your fate.

[After Shadow destroys Doom's Eye's shield by launching five Gun Hunters at it.]

Doom's Eye: We shall meet again, Shadow.

[The Doom Zone vanishes, sending Shadow back to the ARK.]

Shadow: So what I was tracking... was him... I won't let him escape again!

Looming Shadows

[Scene: Space Colony ARK research lab.]

[Shadow enters the research lab and notices the Fake Emerald. Recognizing it with a grunt, he approaches its pedestal and obtains it.]

Shadow: The fake Chaos Emerald Tails made to foil the doctor's plans... [takes out the real yellow Chaos Emerald for comparison] Hmph. Even I have a hard time distinguishing between the two of them.

[He puts both Emeralds away when suddenly a burst of violet energy appears outside the ARK. He tries to protect himself from the light as it grows stronger. The energy is a Time Hole through which the Time Eater emerges. It generates a massive shock-wave of time energy towards the ARK.]

[Scene change: Meadow, day.]

[The scene flashes to the Time Eater's attack on Sonic's birthday party during the events of Sonic Generations, dragging in some Chao, Team Chaotix, Rouge, Knuckles, and Amy through Time Holes.]

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK]

[The blast of time energy engulfs the ARK and Shadow with it.]

[Scene change: White Space.]

[Shadow awakens in the White Space, noticing only a few desolate buildings. He turns to his left to notice Omega, who activates and stands up. He then glances to his left and notices the ARK has been teleported to White Space before finally looking up and seeing an ominous moon surrounded by rings that have closed eyes on them, steeling his resolve.]

Black Moon Awakening 1

[Scene: White Space, Space Colony ARK entrance.]

[Shadow restores color to the Space Colony ARK, and a token Shadow has obtained leaves his possession and flies towards the moon. In response, one of the rings pulsates with magenta energy before the eye on it awakens.]

Space Colony ARK Act 2

[Scene: Space Colony ARK]

[Midway through traversing his way through the ARK, Shadow encounters wisps of Black Arms energy.]

Shadow: What?!

[The energy enters Shadow's body, and he starts contorting in pain. His eyes flash red before Doom Wings erupt from his back.]

Shadow: Hnn... GAAAAAH!!!

[He starts flying with his new Doom Wings.]

Shadow: What is this? This power...

Phantom of a Bygone Age

[Scene: White Space, Space Colony ARK entrance.]

[Shadow leaves the ARK, pulsating with Black Arms energy.]

Shadow: What was that new power? I've never done anything like that before. It's not something I should normally be able to do. Yet it felt... natural. What could be causing these mutations?

[Shadow reaches the edge of the land he's on, noticing another landmass only separated by sea. He gasps in shock upon seeing a familiar face: Maria, who also notices him and eagerly runs towards him.]

Gerald: Maria, wait!

[Maria turns to see her grandfather. Reluctant to obey his orders, she looks back at Shadow as the scene turns back to Shadow's perspective.]

Shadow: Maria...? No. She's gone. I'm seeing things.

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK, 50 years ago.]

[A recreation of Maria sending Shadow to the Earth is shown in illustration with an instrumental of "Throw It All Away" playing in the background.]

Shadow: [sealed inside a container] MARIA!!!

Maria: Shadow, I beg of you... please do it for me...

Shadow: Maria...

Maria: For all the people... on that planet... Sayonara... Shadow the Hedgehog.

[Scene change: White Space.]

Shadow: I need to stay focused. Deal with the problem at hand. [looks up at the Black Moon] Not chase... dreams.

Bestowed Power, Doom Spears

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow approaches a relic in the White Space. It scans his body before absorbing a Doom Gear from him. The gear activates the relic, which shatters and unleashes Black Arms energy. Shadow ends up absorbing the energy and contorts in pain.]

Shadow: No... [groans] No...

[His left eye flashes red as he screams in agony, firing Doom Spears in every direction. He then strikes a pose with a blast of Black Arms energy.]

Rail Canyon Act 1

[Scene: Rail Canyon]

[Midway through Rail Canyon, Shadow enters a corridor when Doom's Eye reappears, distorting the area, and drags Shadow back into the Doom Zone.]

Shadow: You again.

Doom's Eye: This way, Shadow.

Shadow: Why should I follow you?

[Shadow enters a free-falling section]

Doom's Eye: Can you afford not to?

[The area distorts as Shadow continues to free-fall]

Doom's Eye: You'll understand soon enough.

Shadow: Hmph. Fine. I'm getting answers from you one way or another.

Doom's Eye: Hahaha! Very good, Shadow.

[Shadow enters another free-falling section]

Doom's Eye: Come to me, if you can.

[Shadow catches up to Doom's Eye and attacks it]

Doom's Eye: Well, done, Shadow. But it's still not enough.

Shadow: "Not enough"? What did he mean...?

[The area returns to Rail Canyon]

Black Moon Awakening 2

[Scene: White Space, Rail Canyon entrance.]

[Shadow obtains a token from Rail Canyon, which floats all the way to the Black Moon and awakens another ring.]

Meeting Orbot and Cubot

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow approaches Orbot and Cubot, who are working on a rocket near the Rail Canyon entrance.]

Orbot: Oh. Hello, Shadow.

Cubot: Please don't smash us to bits!

[Shadow crosses his arms.]

Bestowed Power, Doom Blast

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow approaches a relic in the White Space. It scans his body before absorbing a Doom Gear from him. The gear activates the relic, which shatters and unleashes Black Arms energy. Shadow ends up absorbing the energy and contorts in pain.]

Shadow: No... [groans] No...

[His left eye flashes red as he rushes to the camera and pummels it mercilessly before launching it upwards. The camera looks around helplessly before Shadow appears next to it and kicks it away with a Doom Blast. He then teleports one more time and punches it downwards.]

Biolizard

[Scene: Cannon's Core]

[Shadow arrives at Cannon's Core. Once he shows up, the Biolizard uses Chaos Control to enter the arena before unleashing a mighty roar.]

Shadow: You tortured soul... I will end your suffering!

[When the Biolizard starts attacking...]

Shadow: It's no use. You can't keep pace with me!

[When the Biolizard tires.]

Shadow: Your energy is still unstable.

[After Shadow grinds on the tubes on its body.]

Shadow: I need to target the life-support rig on its back.

[After Shadow manages to deal enough damage, the Biolizard suddenly reveals a new mutation. It summons various electrical cables from its body and, with a roar, covers them with various eggs before using them as new arms.]

Shadow: You think those'll stop me?

[When the Biolizard starts attacking with its new arms.]

Shadow: Huh, a new mutation?

[After Shadow attacks the new arms.]

Shadow: I knew it'd pop. I already know your weaknesses.

[After Shadow deals more damage to the Biolizard, it leaps onto the walls and attaches itself there, powering itself up.]

Shadow: Stop struggling. You cling to a crueler fate. I'll show you which of us is the true ultimate life form!

Black Moon's Influence

[Scene: White Space.]

[The Black Moon's eye widens as dark energy surges from it. The White Space expands, revealing more areas.]

Arch-enemy Arrival

[Scene: White Space, the Biolizard's Boss Gate.]

[Shadow watches the White Space expand from the Biolizard's Boss Gate. He grunts in dismissal as he turns back to the Boss Gate. From an unseen point of view, something approaches Shadow. He turns back to see Doom's Eye, which manifests a projection of Black Doom.]

Black Doom: Shadow. You have made excellent progress. I would expect nothing less from my finest creation.

Shadow: "Finest creation", Black Doom? I destroyed you once. I will do it again.

[Shadow skates towards Doom's Eye and kicks at the Black Doom projection, only to phase through it. Doom's Eye dodges the strike and taunts Shadow, who uses Chaos Snap to teleport and try to strike it. Doom's Eye dodges again, once more displaying Black Doom.]

Black Doom: Heh heh heh heh... you defeated us, but the Black Arms live on. And this temporal anomaly has accelerated my plans to revive my forces and consume the world.

[Shadow skates towards Doom's Eye and fires a Chaos Spear in its direction, striking Doom's Eye in the eye before using a Homing Attack on it and landing several kicks. Doom's Eye collapses and seemingly fades away, except another Doom's Eye appears and shows Black Doom.]

Shadow: Show yourself! We'll finish this here and now!

Black Doom: You are not ready yet. We are not ready yet. Once you have been perfected, then we will have our reckoning.

[Shadow clenches a fist in anger and grits his teeth as Doom's Eye ends the projection and flies away.]

Bestowed Power, Doom Surf

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow approaches a relic in the White Space. It scans his body before absorbing a Doom Gear from him. The gear activates the relic, which shatters and unleashes Black Arms energy. Shadow ends up absorbing the energy and contorts in pain.]

Shadow: No... [groans] No...

[He falls to the ground with a giant ink puddle on the floor as the tentacles of the Doom Surf start to what seems to be cover him before Shadow jumps up and reveals the Doom Surf. Shadow rides on the Doom Surf on water before he does a spin in the air.]

Reunion with Big

[Scene: White Space.]

Big: Uh. Hello. Your name's Shadow, isn't it? Have you seen my good buddy, Froggy?

[Shadow puts his hand on his hip and gives a slight smile.]

Black Moon Awakening 3

[Scene: White Space, Sunset Heights entrance.]

[Shadow obtains a token from Sunset Heights, which floats all the way to the Black Moon and awakens another ring.]

Reunion with Maria

[Scene Change: White Space.]

[Shadow is skating across White Space away from Sunset Heights. Suddenly, he hears someone cry out and stops. Maria is running from three Black Warriors. Shadow begins running towards them with his Doom Powers active. The Black Warriors soon corner Maria, and she shouts in terror and cowers. Shadow uses Chaos Snap to teleport to one of the Warriors and uses Doom Blast on it, launching it against the wall and disintegrating it. He then teleports to first one Warrior, then the other, and kicks them both away, destroying them. He teleports to the ground, and Maria turns and looks at him. His eyes widen in shock.]

Shadow: Maria?

[She embraces him happily.]

Maria: Shadow!

[Gerald runs up to them.]

Gerald: Maria! Thank you, Shadow.

Maria: Where did you learn to fight like that?

[Shadow turns away, thinking.]

Shadow: [thinking to himself] They must be from a point in time before the ARK disaster. [From Shadow's POV, he looks at the Black Moon] Perhaps I can change their fate.

Maria: Shadow? You look grim. Are you all alright?

[Shadow turns to face Maria.]

Shadow: I'll be fine. We'll all be fine. Find somewhere safe to hide. I’ll take care of everything.

[Shadow skates away. Gerald looks after him thoughtfully.]

Gerald: Hmm...

Metal Overlord

[Scene: Final Fortress.]

[Shadow, using his Doom Morph, is chased across the ruins of Final Fortress by Neo Metal Sonic, in his Metal Overlord form. Metal Overlord fires a few missiles, but they miss. Readying his claws, Metal Overlord backflips and charges across the waters at Shadow, who effortlessly dodges. Metal Overlord's eyes flash red before he issues a mighty roar.]

Metal Overlord: RAAAAAAAGH!!!

[As the battle begins...]

Metal Overlord: You can't hope to defeat me! Accept your fate, you fake hedgehog! I am now the true Sonic! The true Ultimate Life Form!

Shadow: "True Ultimate Lifeform"? Don't make me laugh. You'll be joining the rubble in the water soon enough.

Black Moon Surge 1

[Scene: White Space.]

[After Shadow defeats Metal Overlord, it causes the Black Moon to split open in various places and erupt purple, glowing tendrils. One of the Black Moon's eyes flashes as Black Arms energy is released. Purple fog is visible from the camera. ]

Shadow's Truth

[Scene: White Space.]

[Black Arms energy emanates from Shadow's hand as he points it at the Black Moon. Leaving the Metal Overlord boss gate, he returns to Maria and Gerald, contemplating his powers.]

Maria: Shadow? Are you in pain?

Shadow: No. I feel a connection to the symbol in the sky. It’s the same tingle as my new abilities...

Gerald: It is the power of Black Doom.

Maria: Grandfather?

Gerald: I made a Faustian deal with that monster to create Shadow, now it seems that we all have to pay for my sins.

Shadow: So, my powers, that symbol... they are all connected?

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK, 50 years ago.]

Gerald: Maria's illness couldn't be treated on Earth. I could better manage her condition on the ARK, even if her family didn't like the idea... I attempted to develop the "ultimate lifeform" as a means to find a cure for Maria. My own experiments had reached their frustrating limits... so when that alien warlord reached out to me and offered the miracle of Chaos Control, I accepted. Through his DNA, the ultimate lifeform was born.

[Scene change: White Space.]

Gerald: Black Doom wanted me to make the perfect warrior for him, so these new abilities are all part of his grand design. You two are linked by blood. [Maria gasps in shock] As you grow in power, so does he. He will either take control of your mind and make you his ultimate weapon, or take over your body and be reborn in you.

Shadow: (dismissive grunt) You made me the ultimate lifeform, Professor. Black Doom is a fool. I'll take this power, and use it as my own.

Bestowed Power, Doom Morph

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow approaches a relic in the White Space. It scans his body before absorbing a Doom Gear from him. The gear activates the relic, which shatters and unleashes Black Arms energy. Shadow ends up absorbing the energy and contorts in pain.]

Shadow: No... [groans]

[Shadow suddenly lets out a blood-curdling scream as his eyes go blank. What seems to be the tentacles of the Doom Morph emerge from the energy and wrap around him, sinking him into the energy. Before the tentacles wrap around his head, Shadow’s pupils come back before he becomes the Doom Morph. He traverses across the Corruption and swings on a couple of Morph Balls.]

Shadow vs. Sonic

[Scene change: White Space]

[Shadow is shown jumping across several platforms before landing on the ground. He sees City Escape, just as Modern Sonic runs by. He notices Shadow.]

Modern Sonic: I found you, Shadow!

[Shadow notices Sonic and turns to him]

Shadow: The blue hedgehog... of all places...

[Sonic runs up behind Shadow]

Sonic: You have something I need.

Shadow: [begins walking away] You can wait until my business is finished.

Modern Sonic: Yea, sorry, but that Chaos Emerald and I have a date with a monster!

Shadow: Well then. It'll be a date to DIE for.

[A Time Hole opens, and the hedgehogs exchange competitive looks before jumping through it.]

[Scene change: Space Colony ARK]

[In a recreation of Shadow's rival fight from Sonic Generations, Shadow is shown grinding on a rail while Modern Sonic runs towards him, activating his Boost in the process. They jump, passing each other in front of the moon, striking a pose. Shadow lands and speeds off, and Sonic soon gives chase. Soon, they are beside each other. Shadow attacks Sonic by bumping into him, managing to slow him down by shoving him with his body. They run up a wall before Sonic tries to Spin Dash into Shadow, who dodges. Sonic then uses what seems to be a single Reaction Plate to try and attack Shadow, who dodges the hedgehog again. Sonic finally gets ahead of him, causing Shadow to try and use his Doom Powers to attack Sonic. However, he hesitates and ceases his aim before seeing a spinning Sonic successfully smack him, knocking him down with a Homing Attack. The Chaos Emerald also falls, which Sonic picks up]

Sonic: Nice hustle, but I won this one, so I’m taking the Emerald. See ya! [dashes off as Shadow gets up]

[Rouge is flying by before she sees Shadow. She lands in front of him]

Rouge: I finally find you, and what do I see? Sonic defeating you? What happened!?

Shadow: I will beat him on equal terms or not at all.

Rouge: A fine time for you to be honorable. Now he has the Chaos Emerald.

Shadow: No. [takes out the real Emerald] He has a fake emerald. [A brief flashback is shown of Shadow holding both the real Chaos Emerald and the fake one] I'll have you swap it for the real thing after I’m finished with my mission.

Rouge: Wow. Look at you! As a professional jewel thief, I approve!

Shadow vs. Mephiles

[Shadow enters the inner sanctum of the Dusty Desert temple, finding the Scepter of Darkness lying ominously on the ground, emitting a sinister glow.]

Shadow: What is this, a seal of some sort?

[As Shadow approaches it, the Scepter suddenly erupts and coats the floor in Corruption. Several shadows appear, but Shadow quickly takes care of the ones up close, attacking oncoming ones with Doom Spears. Mephiles then rises out of the Corruption, unleashing a crystalline energy blade from his hand to attack Shadow, but the hedgehog senses it and dodges. Mephiles retracts his blade before rising into the air, initiating the fight.]

Mephiles: I will defeat you, then restore myself to the timeline.

[After Mephiles dives into the Corruption.]

Mephiles: Welcome, Shadow, to the ultimate game of shadow tag!

[During the battle...]

Mephiles: I owe much to you, Shadow.

Shadow: I don't know what you're talking about, but I will crush you all the same.

[Shadow reveals that he has no memory of Mephiles, as their encounters were undone when Solaris was erased and the events of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) are actually remembered by only Sonic and Princess Elise the Third. Mephiles, however, still remembers his defeat, and is actually aware that his existence is now in flux, plotting to restore himself to the timeline after getting his revenge on Shadow.]

Mephiles: WHAT!? Did you forget about me AGAIN!?

[If Shadow takes too long to use Doom Blast on him...]

Mephiles: Let my blade give you a taste of despair!

[If Shadow then fails to counter Mephiles's blade...]

Mephiles: Did you really think I'd fall for the same trick twice?!

Shadow: Just attacking blindly won't be enough.

[Upon reaching the second phase.]

Mephiles: It's time to raise the curtain on this macabre play!

[Mephiles summons several pillars and slams them on the arena.]

Shadow: Create all the clones you want. I'll just take care of them all!

[After Mephiles transforms into his monster form.]

Mephiles: [chuckles] I might consider sparing you...

Shadow: Don't do me any favors.

[After Shadow attacks his monster form.]

Mephiles: I'm disappointed, Shadow. Truly disappointed!

[Once the Mephiles clones corner him, Shadow uses Chaos Control, attacks the clones and dispersing them with the Doom Spears once time resumes. He then reappears and sends Mephiles into the Corruption with a swift kick]

Mephiles: No...! I WANT... TO EXIST!!!

[Mephiles emerges and sends forth his shadows. Shadow fights through them all to reach Mephiles, finishing him with a hefty punch that pins him to the floor and forces him back inside the Scepter of Darkness, leaving him sealed away again.]

Shadow: There is no future for you. EVER.

Black Moon Surge 2

[Scene: White Space]

[After Shadow defeats Mephiles, it causes the Black Moon to sprout more tendrils. One of the Black Moon's eyes flashes. More cracks appear all over the Black Moon. The tentacles reach farther down towards the ground as more appear.]

Between Light and Dark

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow, Maria and Gerald are walking together, but Doom's Eye appears, projecting Black Doom.]

Gerald: [To Maria] Don't be frightened!

[Shadow puts himself in front of Maria and Gerald.]

Black Doom: The promised time is nigh upon us, Shadow. Soon, you will be mine.

Maria: Shadow will never serve you! He's nothing like you!

Black Doom: Gerald may have given him this unassuming form, but the blood of the Black Arms flows in his veins. He is a warrior! A destroyer!

Shadow: Yes - the warrior that will destroy you!

Black Doom: Ha ha ha ha... I have learned from our last encounter. There will be no mistakes this time. Struggle all you want. You will be MINE!

Shadow: Professor... what do you think he means he "learned from our last encounter"?

Gerald: I surmise you defeated him some point in the future. He has grown a new body and used the nebulous nature of time in White Space to accelerate his plans for revenge.

[Shadow clenches his fist in anger as Black Arms energy begins to gather around him.]

Shadow: He's right. No more mistakes. This time, I will crush every last one of them!

Maria: Shadow, no!

[Maria grabs Shadow's hands to get his attention.]

Shadow: Maria?

Maria: It breaks my heart to see you so full of anger. This isn't who you are. Do you know why I named you "Shadow?" Because without light there's only darkness, but a shadow will show where to find the light. Do you understand? I don't want you to be driven by darkness. I want you to be happy. Stand in the light with peace in your heart.

[Sunlight shines over Maria as Shadow relents. Divergent, Shadow suddenly runs off without a word.]

Bestowed Power, Doom Wing

[Scene: White Space]

[Shadow approaches a relic in the White Space. It scans his body before absorbing a Doom Gear from him. The gear activates the relic, which shatters and unleashes Black Arms energy. Shadow ends up absorbing the energy and contorts in pain.]

Shadow: No... [groans] No...

[He falls to the ground, reaching out as the wings start growing from his back. He contorts in pain as the wings continue growing. He lets out a cry as the wings unfurl from his back, before he levitates and flies around with them.]

Doom Zone Erosion

[Scene: White Space]

[Upon Shadow's manifestation of the Doom Wing, the Black Moon surges in energy as it reaches its full potential. The symbol then launches a beam to the sky, breaking the dimension and causing the Doom Zone to combine with White Space. Radical Highway gimmicks appear around the Black Moon, and enemies, GUN Fighters and Black Arms, emerge from it and scatter around the area. The cutscene ends as the camera cuts to an outward view of the Doom Zone-corrupted White Space.]

The Final Battle

[Scene: Doom Zone]

[Shadow uses the Doom Wing to fly to Maria and Gerald. As he lands, one of the Black Moon's eyes sends a pulse, staggering Shadow as he rejects Black Doom's attempt to take him over. The alien warlord speaks to him from the Black Moon as Shadow turns toward it.]

Black Doom: You cannot deny me, Shadow. You are finally complete. Come. Face me. I shall claim you—mind, body and soul—and become the perfect being.

[Unleashing a battle cry, Shadow lets out a fierce aura of bright, golden light, focusing it as he turns to Gerald and Maria.]

Shadow: It is time.

Gerald: I am sorry I put you on this path, Shadow. But I am proud of how you have walked it. I believe in you, son.

[Maria breaks free from her grandfather and runs up to Shadow.]

Maria: Shadow...!

[Shadow stops Maria by holding out a hand.]

Shadow: It's alright, Maria. I'm letting go of that destructive anger. But I will continue to fight.

[White Space trembles. Maria falls, but Shadow helps her up and holds her hands.]

Shadow: Fight... with your wish in my heart. Your wish for everyone to have a chance to be happy. [smiles]

[Maria initially gives a confused look but, she then smiles back at him before Shadow lets go of her hands. Gerald walks forwards and places his hands on Maria's shoulders and nods at Shadow, to which Shadow nods back and flies off to face Black Doom.]

Shadow vs. Devil Doom

[Scene: Doom Zone]

[In Radical Highway, Shadow lands on a platform, with Black Doom looming over him, in which the latter turns around to see him.]

Black Doom: The time has come, Shadow.

Shadow: Agreed. Time to sever this bond between us forever.

Black Doom: Heh heh heh ha ha ha... AH HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

[Black Arms energy envelopes as Black Doom cackles, before the energy erupts in a mighty force. Giant wings begin to sprout out, signaling the arrival of Devil Doom. Shadow prepares himself to battle him once more, as the colossal entity looms over, with Doom's Eye flying to the socket, and inserting itself in to complete the look.]

Devil Doom: Embrace your fate.

[Devil Doom lets out a bellowing roar as he says this, in which the domain shatters to reveal a complex version of Radical Highway. Shadow flies back with the Doom Wing, and seemingly straight towards him. Devil Doom in response unleashes cells which shoot out lasers to hinder the black hedgehog, although the latter dodges them all. Shadow dives into the water, for it to be revealed that he used Doom Surf to chase down Devil Doom, this time with the goal of destroying his archenemy once and for all.]

Battle with Devil Doom

Phase 1

[With Shadow chasing the overlord of the Black Arms, Devil Doom lets out a bellowing roar towards shadow, before he flies further from him. Shadow still pursues as he rides the watery terrain.]

Devil Doom: You were made to serve my will. Now join with me, as you were made to do.

Shadow: Defy me at your own peril.

[Heading up the ramp and to the boost rings, Shadow performs Doom Blast before he kicks off of Devil Doom, and back into the water.]

Shadow: Did you think I wouldn't surpass you?

[The fight continues from there.]

Phase 2

[With half of his health remaining, Devil Doom opens a portal to a different location. Shadow follows in pursuit, with the Doom Surf carrying him to the portal, where the corrupted bog on the platforms resided. Devil Doom swaps to his other head, the Eye of Doom inserting itself into the socket. Still airborne, Shadow says farewell to the manta ray that is Doom Surf, and swaps to Doom Morph after making contact with a purple orb, in which he swings to the platform.]

Devil Doom: Perhaps I have underestimated your power. Perhaps I should actually start trying!

Shadow: Hollow threats from a hollow monster! This isn't good. So that's what it can do, huh?

Terrifying Reveal: Neo Devil Doom (Phase 3)

[Devil Doom roars as he brought to his limit, scattering debris around. Shadow activates the Doom Wing as Devil Doom's form evolves, transforming into Neo Devil Doom. As Shadow confronts him...]

Neo Devil Doom: Splendid, Shadow! Truly splendid! You are my finest instrument, a testament to my bloodline! See yourself as who you really are!

Shadow: I am nothing like you. I have surpassed you! Time to finish this once and for all!

[As Shadow continues fighting back against his enemy, bringing him past half his health...]

Neo Devil Doom: Resistance is futile! We will be reborn!

[Shadow fully depletes Neo Devil Doom's health, but the alien warlord pulls a dirty move by activating...]

Neo Devil Doom: CHAOS CONTROL! [Shadow lays frozen in place] Your future is already decided! We will be one!

[Shadow escapes the Chaos Control before he is hit by lasers, dodging his attacks until being held back by Doom's clawed hands. Shadow pushes it back, kicking it away.]

Shadow: You are blinded by your ambition. I will not be stopped!

[Shadow then dives a Boost-propelled missile kick at Doom, landing a heavy blow as the screen fades to white...]

The End of Neo Devil Doom

[Nearing defeat, Neo Devil Doom roars, continuing his attack as Shadow dodges debris launched by his foe. Flying above, Shadow is caught off-guard as the monster appears behind him, grasping him in his hands.]

Neo Devil Doom: You cannot deny what you are! We are one and the same!

[Shadow breaks free, shining in a yellow aura (possibly from using the yellow Chaos Emerald to boost his power) as he stands firm against his opponent.]

Shadow: I am Shadow the Hedgehog. This is the destiny I choose.

[For his final strike, Shadow raises his arm and generates multiple Doom Spears.]

Shadow: Now... TO END THIS!

[The Doom Spears pelt Neo Devil Doom. Shadow sends three more at him as he yells in pain.]

Neo Devil Doom: I crafted everything up till now... and yet, YOU DENY ME?!

[Shadow charges at Devil Doom, and with a battle cry, he strikes straight through the alien's body.]

Neo Devil Doom: Shadow...! You...! GRAHHHHHHHH!!!

[Neo Devil Doom cries out as his body explodes...]

Never Forgotten

[Scene: Doom Zone]

[After Shadow defeats Black Doom, it cuts back to Doom Zone as the Black Moon explodes and then the Doom Zone turns back into White Space.]

[Scene Change: White Space]

[Shadow returns from his triumph against Black Doom as the Black Moon explodes, dispersing the Radical Highway gimmicks. Just as he lands, he winces as the Doom Wing withers away for good...]

Rouge: Nice work! Perfect timing, too. Sonic is getting ready to confront the monster that trapped us here. If I'm going to switch the Emeralds without him noticing, we have to do it now.

[Shadow takes out the Chaos Emerald and hands it to Rouge.]

Shadow: Very well. I leave it to you.

Rouge: Okay, I'll take care of it.

[Rouge goes ahead, but she stops as she sees Shadow sidetracked.]

Rouge: Aren't you coming? He might need your help.

Shadow: I need to settle something first.

Rouge: Whatever.

[Rouge flies off, while Shadow runs back to Maria and Prof. Gerald.]

Maria: Shadow?

[Shadow appears, landing before Maria and Gerald.]

Maria: I knew you could do it! [she suddenly collapses]

Shadow: Maria!?

Maria: I'm okay. Really.

[Shadow notices Gerald's hand starting to fade away...]

Shadow: Professor! What's happening?

[He sees the same happening with Maria as he grasps their hands. Gerald looks up solemnly.]

Gerald: Without Black Doom's influence, the time anomaly is beginning to heal. We are returning to our own point in time.

Shadow: I'll stop Rouge! Use Chaos Control! Stop this moment in time and...!

Maria: Shadow... no. We don't want to be frozen in one place in time. Besides, your friends need your help.

Shadow: But you don't know what's going to happen!

[Maria only leans toward Shadow, embracing his presence...]

Maria: I know I'll see you again. And if fate draws us apart, I will always be in your heart.

Shadow: Maria...

[Maria steps back to Gerald's side as they start to vanish.]

Shadow: Wait...!

[Anguished, Shadow refuses to watch further as he runs off, Maria and Gerald watching contentedly before they disappear to their point in time. Rouge sees Shadow pass by, a single tear shedding from him. Rouge feels the tear hit her face as she realizes Shadow's emotional state. However, she stays quiet as they depart for the Time Eater's lair.]

DLC

The Ring Gate Appears

[Scene: White Space, Space Colony ARK entrance.]

[Shadow approaches a violet anomaly. He grunts with curiosity as he faces it. The anomaly converges and reveals a ring, which shows the world of Tokyo within. The ring collapses on the ground before floating and expanding, revealing a portal to Tokyo. Shadow grunts in shock as he sees the portal.]

To the World of Movies

[Scene: White Space, Tokyo entrance.]

[Shadow places his right hand on the portal to Tokyo. He is then lifted off the ground and dragged into the portal as he grunts in surprise. The ring shrinks and fades into oblivion.]

Tokyo Act 1

[Scene: Tokyo.]

[The ring opens in Tokyo and expels Shadow out. He now has the appearance of his film counterpart.]

Shadow: [now with the voice of Keanu Reeves] Where am I now?

[A bright light shines on Shadow. He recoils and blocks his eyes with his left hand. Through his fingers, he gets a glance of a billboard showing live footage of him in his new form. He slowly lowers his hand to get a better view.]

Shadow: Is that... me? I've taken on another form...? I feel as if I've left my own dimension...

[Shadow notices a GUN Helicopter flying overhead and grits his teeth]

Shadow: Suspicious. I should follow.

[After exploring a bit.]

Shadow: Looks like I've kept my basic form and abilities.

Shadow: A beautiful city... It looks like how Maria described the Earth.

[After breaking into the subway.]

Shadow: I need to find my way back... or fight my way out.

[Upon encountering the G.U.N. helicopter in the city.]

Shadow: What are they doing here...?

[Shadow gets on a moving train and skates across it. The G.U.N. helicopter notices him and fires a salvo of missiles at him.]

Shadow: Ha! What a waste of time.

[Shadow dodges the missiles and kicks the last one before grabbing it and using the momentum to fly out of the helicopter's reach. He then charges a Chaos Spear and fires it at the helicopter, knocking it off-course. Shadow lands on the helicopter, rips off the door, and allows the pilot to escape before jumping off and watching it explode as he lands back on the highway.]

Shadow: You can't stop me. I must keep moving.

[Upon encountering another helicopter.]

Shadow: Missiles? Feh - too slow!

[Shadow eventually reaches the top of the Tokyo Skytree. He walks on the top when he notices a ring portal back to the White Space. He is then spotted by a squad of G.U.N. helicopters that fire a salvo of missiles at him. As the missiles home in on Shadow, he activates his Air Shoes and boosts up the tower, launching himself off the tower. He lands on a missile and warps upwards before landing on another.]

Shadow: Chaos Control!

[He freezes time, punches a missile, kicks another away, and stomps on the last one.]

Shadow: I have no time for this. I have to complete my mission. [fires a Chaos Spear at a missile] But I'll be back. [enters the portal]

[As the portal closes, time resumes, and the Chaos Spear destroys one missile, creating a chain that destroys the other missiles harmlessly.]

Return from TOKYO

[Scene: White Space]

[The Ring Gate that Shadow had entered previously reopens in the same location as before, showing a glimpse of Tokyo. Shadow launches out of the ring, now back to resembling his original form. Shadow scrapes his hand across the floor and activates his Air Shoes to try and stop his momentum as he slides across the floor. He gains his footing and does a front flip to come to a halt. He looks down at his hands and grunts.]
