The Senbon[1] (センボン[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, pufferfish-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Based on pufferfish, the Senbons have red bodies with gray underbellies, cartoonish black eyes, a gray and red turbine propeller on their rear, small gray fins on the sides, and a breathing apparatus for a mouth piece. They are also covered in white spikes.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Advance[]

In Sonic Advance, the Senbons appear as enemies. They are only encountered in Secret Base Zone.

In gameplay, the Senbons' behavior resembles the Pointdexters': they float around back and forth and occasionally pause to extend their spikes. Since they cannot be harmed while their bodies are inflated and their spikes are out, the player must wait until they retract their spikes and then hit them with an aerial attack to destroy them. Also, upon their destruction, they will release an Animal.

Other game appearances[]

Sonic Pinball Party[]

In Sonic Pinball Party, the Senbons appear as obstacles. They can be found on certain pinball tables.

Powers and abilities[]

The Senbons are capable of levitation and can protrude spikes from their bodies.

Trivia[]

  • The Senbons' name is derived from "Harisenbo", which is Japanese for "porcupinefish".
