Trivia[]
- Sonic the Comic had stories based on Sega games and franchises other than Sonic the Hedgehog. These comics were also called "Sega Superstars", coining the term since the first issue, 11 years before the first Sega Superstars game.
- The later name "All-Stars" is named after Sega's North American budget range for the Dreamcast, where popular games which sold well are repackaged as Sega All Stars with cheaper prices.[citation needed]
- While the Sonic Riders games do not count as Superstars games, Sega characters, Extreme Gears and courses can be unlocked and are playable in the games, such as the Extreme Gears Hang-On, Super Hang-On and The Crazy, which appear in all three games.
- NiGHTS, Ulala and AiAi are unlockable in Sonic Riders as well as courses Sega Carnival and Sega Illusion. Opa Opa is also one of the available Extreme Gears to purchase in the game for 2,500 Rings.
- Amigo, NiGHTS and Billy Hatcher are unlockable in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity as well as the Sega themed courses '80s Boulevard and '90s Boulevard.
- Sonic Free Riders is the only Sonic Riders game without additional Sega characters or courses.
- There was a Superstars fighting game arranged at one point, but it was later scrapped.[citation needed][2]
- In Sonic Forces, Avatar Costumes based on Sega characters were made available as DLC.
