Members[]

Fleming[]

Main article: Fleming

This middle-aged beaver was once head of the Secret Service and a member of the dismantled Rebel Underground. Upon retiring, he is succeeded by Geoffrey St. John.

His name is a reference to Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond series.

Geoffrey St. John[]

Main article: Geoffrey St. John

Geoffrey St. John is the leader of the resurrected Secret Service and a former member of the Rebel Underground.

King Max told St. John and his Underground to reform to the Secret Service, with its members being a trio with St. John, Fleming and Smiley. Unfortunately, however, the beavers lacked the energy to continue with the dangerous tasks in the Service, and they retired to become guards for the King.

With both Fleming and Smiley regiments, Max told St. John to recruit new members. St. John first needed a recruit who could blend in with its surrounding; he went to Angel Island to find Valdez, a former member of the Service who left, but reluctantly agreed to rejoin. He then went to Downunda to find someone who could hear long distances, and found Downunda Freedom Fighter Wombat Stu. Valdez thought that he was too young, but St. John said that his age was irrelevant and only his skill mattered. Stu joined due to having nothing to do after Crocbot's defeat. At Mobotropolis, both Valdez and Stu rented a hotel for the night, while St. John went to look for a recruit who could file stuff. He found Hershey Cat, who St. John invited to the armory and then recruited her. Finally, he needed a weapons specialist. While entering his cubicle located inside the armory, St. John was ambushed by Bomb and Heavy, who explained that they had left the Chaotix. Looking for a place to fit in, they had found the Service by virtue of Heavy's skill in tapping into any database. St. John was impressed by both of them and recruited them both.

The Service then went back to Angel Island and rescued Queen Alicia Acorn and Elias Acorn, which King Max made them head team of Mobotropolis which cause the Knothole Freedom Fighters to disband. The Service went to west Mobotropolis to rescue Nate Morgan along with Sonic and Elias form Snively Robotnik and the escaped convicts though they managed to capture half of them as several escaped due to a Mutant octopus attack by Doctor Eggman.

Though St. John and The Service suffered the loss of fellow friend and colleague Valdez, as during Eggman recapturing of Mobotropolis The Service managed to rescue Rosie and her orphans but Valdez stayed behind to cover them, but known at the time he was forgotten in the rest of the chaos and Roboticized. This was not know until Hershey and St. John sneaked into Robotropolis to discover his fate. Because of this The Service classified him as deceased, and on Angel Island Chaotix member Espio the Chameleon presumably killed him and freed the chameleons.

Following the loss of Valdez the Service and the Freedom Fighters teamed up often after Sonic was knighted by King Max. St. John then began a respect for Sonic but this came to an end after Sonic lost the Sword of Acorns and King Max was injured while Sonic protected him. The Service team lost the respect to the Freedom Fighters and as a result was captured, even though Sonic dressed as "The Sneak" to secretly help them, St. John, Hershey and Wombat Stu was infected with nanobots, while Heavy and Bomb were reprogrammed as Sleeper Agents. Heavy created more Bomb(s) which invaded and hold the Royal Family hostage while Geoffrey and the rest of the team was being hold back by the nanobots, which Sonic and the rest of the Freedom Fighters destroyed them. St. John and the remaining members of the team had undergo surgery, but even with the removal of the bots Stu retrieved word that Duck "Bill" Platypus had conquered Downunda and left the Service, bringing it down to Geoffrey and Hershey.

Geoffrey and Hershey then went to inform a village about a Shadowbot invasion, but not only were they successful they even brought home Elias and his wife. Geoffrey and Hershey was again captured but this time realized they had feelings for each other and got married on there scheduled execution but that didn't come as the duo was rescued.

After Knothole Village was destroyed Geoffrey and Hershey was sent to New Mobotropolis with the citizens of Knothole. Although they were safe Hershey had to help with New Mobotropolis, while Geoffrey was assigned with GUN Fortress agent Rouge the Bat in Mammoth Mogul Casino with other Freedom Fighters which there mission was successful. Geoffrey later was one of the survivors against the Iron Dominion invasion which Mobotropolis won.

Ian St. John[]

Father of modern day Secret Service leader Geoffrey St. John, Ian was the leader of the Secret Service back in the days preceding Robotnik's coup. Like Geoffrey, he was a Mobian skunk, appearing virtually identical to his son except for having a military crew cut of white hair rather than Geoffrey's tuft.

Assigned to be the personal bodyguard of Queen Alicia and Prince Elias Acorn at the time of the coup, Ian and his team were carrying them to an unknown destination (presumably a safe house of some sort) when their ship was damaged by an Overlander attack and crash landed on Angel Island. Ian and his team, with a single exception, were all killed. Inspired by his father's sacrifice, Geoffrey later followed in his footsteps to become leader of the Secret Service.

Hershey St. John[]

Main article: Hershey St. John

Hershey St. John, formerly known more simply as Hershey the Cat, is partner and wife to Geoffrey St. John. She is a female, anthropomorphic cat with black fur covering her entire body except her face and chest, which are white. Hershey also has green eyes and short black hair, and her wardrobe commonly includes boots and a vest of some sort. As a Cat, her main weakness is that she can't swim; other than that, she's skilled in numerous forms of combat and other areas.

Hershey was thought to be nothing more than an amateur, but that theory is crushed in a story of her own, Hershey Solo, in Sonic Super Special #5. Hershey was originally a pawn in a scheme to kill Sally Acorn when her then boyfriend, Drago Wolf, tricked her into wearing a Sonic the Hedgehog disguise. However, the mask contained eyepieces that caused the wearer to see Snively in place of anyone else. This led to Hershey cutting the rope Sally was hanging from, thinking that Snively was dangling from it. She later learned the truth, and vengefully helped put Drago behind bars; thankfully, Sally was not permanently harmed by the incident. She was forgiven, and joined King Acorn's Secret Service at the behest of Geoffrey.

Hershey made several appearances over time, working together with Geoffrey in multiple instances. Unfortunately, Hershey was taken off active duty along with the rest of Geoffrey's squad after being infected with nanobots injected into their bloodstreams. Luckily, it wasn't too long before these probes were eliminated and Hershey was able to rejoin Geoffrey on active duty. Among her more prominent assignments were locating Prince Elias Acorn and joining in the battle against the Xorda. She and Geoffrey were also the first Mobians to encounter Sonic after his return from his year-long disappearance, or at least year long to the Mobians, where he saved them from being killed by a SWATbot task-force. Hershey and Geoffrey's respect for each other eventually blossomed into love, and the two got married, putting an end to Geoffrey's rivalry with Sonic for Sally's hand. Together, she Geoffrey now head up the Secret Service from the top floor of the Kingdom of Acorn army headquarters in New Mobotropolis.

Hershey's name is likely a play on the Hershey chocolate industry, especially considering that her mother is named Cocoa.

Heavy and Bomb[]

Created by Dr. Robotnik, Heavy and Bomb defected and worked briefly with the Chaotix before joining the Secret Service. However, during a mission to retrieve the Sword of Acorns the Service was captured, and as a result was reprogrammed as Sleeper Agents by Dr. Eggman. The duo returned to Knothole Village but went into action and attacked, Heavy created hundreds of Bomb copies that surrounded the Royal Family, but Sonic came and quickly defeated them. Heavy and Bomb, however, were not deceased as new copies were created to assassinate Mina Mongoose but like the original was defeated by Sonic and the Freedom Fighters, this time for good.

Smiley[]

Main article: Smiley

A palace guard, known for his toothy grin. He does not have many speaking roles in the comic.

Originally a member of the now dismantled Rebel Underground, Smiley was put into the Secret Service, but reassigned off panel and, like fellow comrade Fleming, is a guard at New Mobotropolis.

Colonel Sommersby[]

Main article: Sommersby

One of the senior members of King Acorn's former secret service roster. During the close of the Great war, the Colonel was assigned along Ian St. John (Father of Geoffrey) to safely escort Queen Alicia Acorn and Prince Elias Acorn to the royal compound on Angel Island in order to protect them from invading Overlander forces. Before they could reach the island, Overlander Air forces attacked the royal craft and shot it down on the island's surface. Ian died instantly and the Queen was put in a coma. Disoriented, the Colonel was unable to find the crew or the royal family. Unknown to him, The Brotherhood of Guardians rescued Elias and put the Queen into Cryogenic freezing until recently. Years later after wandering the island, young Elias ran into the Colonel and later wound up at the compound. When new evidence reached King Acorn in Mobotropolis that Alicia and Elias were alive, he sent Geoffrey St. John and the Secret service to Angel Island to investigate. After dealing with the strange weather (Day of Fury), The servicemen broke into the compound where they met The Colonel and his wife, and Elias.

Valdez the Chameleon[]

Main article: Valdez the Chameleon

A blue Chameleon and the mentor of Espio, Valdez was a member of the Secret Service who left for unknown reasons but was later re-recruited by Geoffrey St. John during his reorganization of the group.

Valdez, was the navigator of the group which proved handy on Angel Island were he and the rest of the Service rescued Queen Alicia Acorn and Elias Acorn, and as a result The Service became head of operations in Mobotropolis, which caused the King Maximillian Acorn to disband the The Freedom Fighters. The Secret Service went to west Mobotropolis with Elias and Sonic the Hedgehog to rescue Nate Morgan from Snively Robotnik and the other escaped convicts. However, Valdez time with The Secret Service came to and end after the chameleon sacrificed himself to let the other members of the Service evacuate Rosie and her orphans to Knothole Village, but sadly was shot several times by a Shadowbot which caused him to be taken prisoner. Valdez wounds was proved fatal if not for Dr. Eggman who subsequently Roboticized the chameleon but due to him being evil twisted him memories and sent him to Angel Island as a Sub-Boss. Though his time as one was cut short as Chaotix member and former friend Espio came, which Valdez threatened to roboticize the other chameleons if Espio didn't do what he said. Realizing that Valdez couldn't be talked to his sense Espio pushed him into the water which shorted him out.

Wombat Stu[]

Main article: Wombat Stu

Formerly a member of the Downunda Freedom Fighters, Stu was recruited into the Secret Service. Stu, however like the rest of the Service was captured on a mission and infected with Nanites. The Nanites were destroyed but after the Roboticization of Valdez and the betrayal of Heavy and Bomb, Stu returned to Downunda and rejoined his original comrades, the Downunda Freedom Fighters while Sonic was in space.
