The Sea Fox is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a customized submarine built by Rotor Walrus for Miles "Tails" Prower.

Description

The Sea Fox is a one-person submarine with a nose drill and a glass hood over the cockpit. It is equipped with torpedoes for self-defense. The Sea Fox can be modified so it has side seats and laser blasters. The submarine is a dark blue color with yellow and green stripes around the rear. Originally, it had a single white stripe in the middle.

Tails had wanted his own submarine since he rode in Rotor's Bathysphere.[1] Rotor took notice of this and made the Sea Fox for Tails. However, Tails wasn't allowed to use it since Princess Sally thought he was too young to fight Dr. Robotnik. Rotor removed the oil from the engine and gave the submarine to Tails just to play with it. Tails was upset by this and was leaving the Sea Fox, when he heard the cries of a seagull clinging onto the Sea Fox. The seagull was covered in oil and said he swam away from Robotnik's new undersea henchmen that rebuilt the sub-merged, waterproof robot maker. Using the oil the seagull was covered with in the Sea Fox's gearbox, Tails made the submarine operational and went off to the undersea roboticizer. Tails defeated Robotnik's new henchmen, Octobot, by ramming into it and blew up the roboticizer with a torpedo. He returned the Sea Fox to the dock afterwards.[2]

Growing Pains

After Sonic slapped him around while under Robotnik's control, Tails stormed off in his Sea Fox to find his own adventure. Tails's departure was noticed by Robotnik, however, via a secret camera hidden in a tree near the dock. Robotnik decided to use a leftover Auto Automaton from his recent war with Princess Sally to try and trap Tails. Later, Tails came across an uncharted island and heard a cry of "HELP!" and mistakes a robot Fiona Fox for the real deal. Tails flew out of his Sea Fox and falls in love with the robot. The Auto-Fiona would trap tails in a Roboticizer, but Tails would escape by clogging the machine with his fur. Tails was then attacked by the robot fox and nearly drowned until it rusted in the water. Tails then began to clean up the litter Robotnik left behind, and came across a list of supplies for a satellite operation Robotnik had somewhere on the planet. At first, Tails thinks he should call Sally and tell her about it, but then thinks that the other Freedom Fighters will leave him behind again if he does. Tails then decides to prove himself by going on this mission alone and returns home to Knothole in the Sea Fox.[3][4]

Tails used the Sea Fox once again to investigate a list Robotnik had dropped. Deciding to keep it a secret, Tails went out on his own into the Mobian Ocean with the Sea Fox. He went to the sea lane mentioned in the list and spotted a blimp filled with supplies that was using an "umbrella cloak," stopping anyone from seeing it unless they were directly underneath the blimp. Tails flew toward the blimp to and saw they were heading to Downunda, but an Aerobot blasted him with a disruptor before he could learn more. Tails managed to recover in the nick of time with the Aerobots still hot on his heels, but Tails made a water spout using the ocean's water and his twin tails to subdue his pursuers. Tails went back to the Sea Fox to think up a new plan, but Octobot was lying in wait for him and captured him. Octobot then used his tentacles to punch two holes in the bottom of the Sea Fox, causing it to sink, and then dragged Tails underwater. Fortunately, the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters saved Tails before he could drown and defeated Octobot. Unfortunately, the Sea Fox was totaled and Fluke took him the rest of the way to Downunda.[5]

After his adventure ended, the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters came back to Tails with the Sea Fox completly repaired thanks to their friend "Brain Coral". Tails departed with the Sea Fox and returned to Knothole.[6]
