The Screw Kick (スクリューキック Sukuryūkikku?)[1] is a move that appears in the anime series Sonic X. It is the signature move of Rouge the Bat. It is a powerful spin around the vertical axis that can penetrate solid objects.

Description[]

The Screw Kick is a powerful attack that rivals even the Spin Attack in terms of power. When Rouge uses it, she jumps into the air and spins around on her vertical axis at such speed that she creates an illusion of a tornado around herself before diving straight into her target feet-first. The impact of the attack is very potent, allowing Rouge to effortlessly pierce through virtually anything except the most powerful foes in the series, such as Metarex or chaos energy-fueled robots. When Emerl uses the Screw Kick, he only spins his legs around like a drill, which is only made possible thanks to his articulated joints.[2]

Though the Screw Attack is non-deter, it can be interrupted if Rouge loses focus.[3]

Trivia[]

SX S2E46 Knuckles Screw Kick

Knuckles' Screw Kick-like attack.

  • In "A Wild Win", Knuckles used a similar attack to the Screw Kick to clash with Emerl's, but it was no match for the latter.
  • In the Japanese version of Sonic X, Rouge often says the Screw Kick's name when performing it. In the English dub however, she only says its name in "Sewer Search"; in other episodes, she merely just yells or grunts.
