The Savage Throw takes the form of a brown and white ball for American football enveloped in an green aura. In gameplay, when the Savage Throw is deployed, the ball leaves a green tail in its wake.
In gameplay, Savage Throw can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Quarterback Zavok. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use Savage Throw if he uses Steal to steal it from the aforementioned user.
When obtained, the player can launch this power-up's ball straight down the lane it was deployed on. Once it is launched, the ball will travel down the lane for a few seconds before disappearing. However, it will dissipate when it hits a playable character, collides with an obstacle, or travels off course. Should the ball hit a playable character or pass under them when they jump in particular, said playable character will lose Rings and slow them down for a moment. Players can also upgrade the Savage Throw by leveling the user up to levels 6 and 12. When upgraded, the speed of the Savage Throw's projectile is increased.
To avoid the Savage Throw, the player must move out of the lane the Savage Throw is on or slide under it.
