Sanctuary is a location that appears in the Sonic Underground television series. It is a peaceful haven or hideout for orphaned children. It bears a striking resemblance to Knothole Village from the Sonic the Hedgehog television series.[1] As such, many of its design elements are similar.

Description[]

Sanctuary is located in a large forest (likely the Sonic Underground version of the Great Forest from the SatAM series. It has a river running through it and a waterwheel. There is a stage for speeches, plays and conceas well as many thatched-roof homes.

History[]

TV series[]

The location was mentioned in "Three Hedgehogs and a Baby" when Robotnik created the robotic baby Hip Hedgehog to fool the gang into taking him to Sanctuary,so Robotnik could find and destroy it (presumably turning the children into robots). Manic nearly gave the location away as he started to take Hip there rather than a shelter as Sonic and Sonia suggested. However, in a struggle with Dingo (disguised as the baby basket) Hip fell and was destroyed upon impact, leaving Manic distraught. Manic is later seen teaching some orphans in Sanctuary how to play drums.

The location would later make an appearance in the episode "Tangled Webs".

Trivia[]

  • Sanctuary also exists in the alternate-dimension Mobius. Robotnik describes it as, "a place where anyone who wants to sing and play music are taught.".
