Typical male! Always thinking about your own little world. Life not a video game, Sonic — you've got to work out what's real and what’s not. How could you possibly ask me such a stupid question when your friends are in danger? Now, do you want my help or not?

Metal City Mayhem (Section 124)

Sally Acorn is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks published by Fantail. She is a squirrel who is a close friend of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Appearance[]

Sally resembles a round-shaped tree squirrel slightly less than half a meter tall, although her anatomy is slightly humanoid. She has a large head with a small torso, stubby legs with long feet and three toes each, a long and curled bushy tail each, two large black eyes, and round ears on top of her head. For attire, she wears a bowtie on her head.

History[]

Past (Stay Sonic)[]

Sally Acorn lived in Green Hill Zone with the other inhabitants. Sometime in the past, Sally taught Sonic how to leap great distances, which proved to be important when the hedgehog battled against Dr. Robotnik.[1]

Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebook 1: Metal City Mayhem[]

Sometime prior to the events of the book, Sally was one of many inhabitants captured by Robotnik's new robots and taken to his new city Robotropolis, where she's trapped inside a large box of glass at the end of a dead end street where nobody can hear her.

During his adventure in Robotropolis, Sonic is directed to save Sally by Flicky the Bluebird, who told him she can help teach him how to climb in order to save Flicky as he's trapped in a cage held by a crane.[2] When Sonic arrives, Sally's running low on air a Silver Robot is guarding her cage. Trying to smash the glass cage doesn't work, leaving barely a scratch,[3] so things can go a number of ways depending on the reader:

  • Sonic can destroy the first guard robot, which disintegrates and leaves a black box that is actually a bomb. Once it explodes, it blows a hole in the glass cage, freeing Sally.[4]
  • Using gestures, Sally warns Sonic to look out for a glass cage coming to trap him. If he looks up, he can dodge it in time and the Silver Robot gets trapped inside and sends a second Silver Robot.[5] But if he duck, he's trapped in the cage with the Silver Robot. Upon defeating it, the bomb will go off soon after, costing Sonic a life and restarting him back to Section 22.
  • Plugging a Pter-ege-dactyl or Ren-egg-ade cartridge into either of the Silver Robots will make the robot do a robotic Super-Sonic Spin before crashing through Sally's cage, freeing her and granting Sonic 5 gold rings.[6]
  • If Sonic chooses to smash the second Silver Robot, Sally will suffocate to death and Sonic can't rescue Flicky as he can't learn to climb. This ending is considered non-canon to most of the rest of the series, as Sally's seen fine in the ending and (of course) she appears in future books.[7]

Regardless of which way happens, barring the last one, Sonic will free Sally after which three choices can happen.

  • He can ask her to find Tails and tell him to bring help, which makes Sally question if Sonic can rescue Flicky on his own considering she thought Flicky was trapped.[8] Sonic can either turn to ask for her help (being the third option), or double down and have her go (Section 137). At which, Sally will scamper off into Robotropolis and towards the gates, but Sonic will be unable to climb the crane and heads off into the depths of Robotropolis in shame while Flicky plays a mournful song that fades into the distance.
  • He can ask her if she knows how to beat the giant robot in Botman, to which Sally gets exasperated at Sonic for asking her that while their friends are in danger, before asking if he wants her help or not. At which Sonic can either ask for her help (the third option) or refuse help, at which Section 137 will happen where Sally leaves into the city like the first option.
  • The correct choice is to have Sonic ask Sally to teach him how to climb the crane, and she'll accept to help him. Once the reach the crane, Sally gives a quick lesson to Sonic on how to climb and the two rescue Flicky.[9]

Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebook 2: Zone Rangers[]

The night prior to the start of the book, Sally invited everyone to a party to watch the network premiere of film Zone Alone on Television Planet Mobius. Sonic and Tails, who watched the film prior and didn't like it, left the party before the film started. During the middle of the movie, Sally was mind-controlled by Robotnik broadcasting secret mind-control signals from his broadcasting company and was made a slave of Robotnik alongside the others.
