Sails Tails (セイルス[1] Seirusu?), also known as Sails, is a character that appears in the Sonic Prime television series. He is the No Place counterpart of Tails who is part of The Kraken's crew to help stop any danger.
Appearance[]
Sails is a doppelgänger of his mainstream counterpart. As such, he is a young, anthropomorphic fox cub with a unique genetic mutation giving him two tails instead of one. He possesses mostly amber fur with white fur around his muzzle, torso, and the tips of his tails, with fluffy fur on the tips of his cheeks and chest. He also has large triangular ears with white canals on top of his head, blue eyes, a small black nose, and three locks of hair on his forehead.
For attire, Sails wears brown gloves and boots, a striped light blue and white bandana over his right ear, a brown button-less vest and a brown belt that has a mechanical arm attached to it.
History[]
TV series[]
Past[]
Sometime after Knuckles the Dread failed to retrieve the Devil's Lighthouse and lost his original crew, Sails joined Dread and formed a new pirate crew alongside Batten Rouge, Black Rose, Catfish, and Froggy.
Season one[]
Sails and his crew-mates first encountered Sonic on an isolated island and proceeded to attack him, under the assumption he was part of Dread's former crew. Sonic eventually calmed the three of them down, and they agreed to take him back to the Angel's Voyage. On the ship, Sails and the others have had parties for multiple days, until Sonic eventually revealed to them that he is seeking the Prism Shard. After hearing a retelling of Dread's first attempt to retrieve the shard, Sails and the rest of the crew headed off to try a second time. The crew is surprised to see Rusty Rose. Sails and his friends fight against the Eggforcers aboard the Kraken. After a hard battle, they are victorious. He's the one to capture Rusty Rose.
Season two[]
Sails and his friends meet with Sonic again and face the fury of the Chaos Council. Sails fight alongside his crew. Knuckles the Dread lies and says Sonic betrayed them. Sails believes him and confronts Sonic later on. In the end, Sonic works with them, showing them he is a good person.
Days later, the Chaos Council assaults No Place by creating buildings that come out of nowhere via Operation: Chaos Terraformation. Sails and the others are speechless.
Later on, Sonic returns with Nine. Sails corrects Nine stating "everything that floats" is a boat. The two foxes see each other and are shocked to see their similarities. When Nine leaves, Sails waves in a friendly manner towards him.
Season three[]
Once the Shatterspaces start to collapse, Sails is stuck in No Place alongside Batten and Catfish. In an effort to capture Sonic, Nine sends his Grim Birdies to No Place and orders them to bring the pirates to him. Sails, Batten and Catfish are rescued by Sonic and the Roses. They all go to the Council's base, the Yoke.
Later on, Sails and the rest arrive at The Grim to help Sonic in the fight against Nine. Sails is seen working together with Mangey, as both of them are able to defeat one of the troopers. Sails is able to create a bomb using parts from defeated troopers. Nine orders his troopers to go after them, but Sails stops them using the bomb. Sonic and the others believe they sacrificed themselves. Sometime later, it is revealed that they survived by flying out of the scene. Sails and Mangey take control of Grim Big and use it in combat to defeat other minions. They are also able to beat Alpha Grim Birdie, which causes all the other Grim Birdies to disappear.
When the forcefield around the Citadel expansively shrinks, he and Mangey manage to abandon Grim Big before it got disintegrated by flying away, and joining in the storming of Nine's lab. He and Batten share a brief hug when they hear that the Shatterverse may fully collapse. After Sonic gives up his Prism Energy to fully restore the Paradox Prism, he and the other Shatter Variants say farewell as he and Shadow embark to go home to Green Hill.
Personality[]
Like the rest of the Angel's Voyage crew, Sails speaks with using stereotypical pirate lingo and enjoys pirating. He is a bit of a coward, as he is shown hiding in barrels when the Angel's Voyage is attacked by Dread's former crew, and again when Rusty attacks. Sails shows loyalty to whoever his current captain is, though it has limits, and he will demand that another crewman be made captain if they show them-self to be a superior leader. He has also proven himself to be very heroic. He was willing to sacrifice himself in order to blow up a group of Grim Troopers during the battle in The Grim, as well as high-jacking and piloting Grim Big with help from Mangey to turn the tides of the battle.
Powers and abilities[]
Like his main counterpart, Sails is capable of flying with his twin tails. He is also a good mechanic, having built himself an artificial robotic arm to assist him in combat, though according to Dread, he has never been in combat prior to confronting Rusty Rose.
Weapons[]
Like the rest of his crew, Sails wields a sword. Matched with his robotic arm, he can make long range attacks. His vast intellect can also help him make bombs out of mere scrap metal.
