A hardworking, caring young lady who looks out for her father, her siblings, her grades... Yes, she's a fine girl. Don't bother asking what's in that basket she's balancing on her head, though. That's her own little secret, see?

— Directory, Sonic Unleashed (Xbox 360/PlayStation 3)

Rudi (ルディ Rudi?) is a character that appears in Sonic Unleashed. She is a human resident of Adabat, the daughter of Teanchai and the sister of Nagi, Kaeo and Jamal.

History[]

Xbox 360/PlayStation 3[]

During the events of Sonic Unleashed, Rudi met Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip when the two of them first came to Adabat, where she welcomed them to Adabat and told Sonic, after remarking how rare visitors in Adabat was, that she would gladly answer any question he could have. When Sonic asked where they could the Gaia Temple, Rudi gave them directions, though she warned them to stay away due to strange creatures lurking here lately. When Sonic asked about Adabat, Rudi told him that Adabat was a beautiful place, blessed with plenty of sun, wind and water, and that the villagers were laid back, before noting that they would like it here. When Sonic then asked about the basket on her head, Rudi explained that she used to bear things, though she told him not to peak in it.

Over the next period, Rudi noticed how Sonic and Chip kept coming to Adabat. Later, as she were going out to get shellfish and seaweed of dinner, Rudi met Sonic and Chip again, where she welcomed them and told of how she had noticed their kept coming to Adabat and wondered if they liked it here. Rudi then told Sonic that she would gladly answer any question he could have. As Sonic asked her what she was doing, Rudi told him how she was out to gather food, before she was told by Sonic (who had been yelled at by her father, Teanchai, for talking to her) that her father was acting out. However, Rudi found his claim cofessing, as she had only seen her father being his usual gentle self.

Later on, Rudi met Sonic and Chip again, where she welcomed them and told of how she had noticed their kept coming to Adabat and wondered if they liked it here, before gladly offering Sonic to answer any question he could have. As Sonic asked Rudi of what had happened lately, she told him that people had lately been saying that the earth was coming back together, before she was told by Sonic that Teanchai had been mad at him, but Rudi thought he was only joking as she believed her father was always kind and smiling. When Sonic then asked where they should go next, Rudi told him that she did not know that, but remarked that they were welcome to say in Adabat, though she warned them to say away from their dangerous forest.

Sometime later, Rudi met Sonic and Chip again, where she told Sonic that he looked well and asked him what he had been up to but was shocked to hear he went into the forest. After asking Sonic if he was okay, Rudi told him that Teanchai had told her that the forest and the temple were dangerous, before warning him to stay away. She was then shown the Gaia Key Sonic had found and wondered if it worked on the temple door. Rudi then asked Sonic where he had found the Gaia Key and was amazed by his story, before asking him if he was taking it to the Gaia Temple. As Sonic then tried to tell her that Teanchai had been saying thing to him, Rudi brushed his story off and told how Teanchai worries about her because he was kind.

Later on, during nighttime, Rudi once again met Sonic and Chip again, where she told Sonic that he looked well and asked him what he had been up to, to which she heard that they were off to see Professor Pickle. As Rudi asked who Pickle was, she heard from Sonic and Chip that he was in Shamar, which made her think they had things to do and that they would have to meet later. During their conversation, Rudi heard from Sonic that they were tired from fixing the planet, which she asked was true. Sonic also tried to persuade Rudi to do something about her father, but she told him that Jamal was curiously enough telling her the same thing.

Sometime later, as Sonic and Chip were heading out to Eggmanland, Rudi met them again, where she told Sonic that he looked well and asked him what he was going. After hearing from Sonic that he was off to fix the planet, Rudi was usure what to say, but then told him to hang in there and that she was believing in him. During their conversation, Rudi heard from them that they were taking a short rest before going to the last battle, and told Sonic, after a few moments, to be careful and to come back so they could talk again. As Sonic then attempted to tell her about Teanchai again, but Rudi thought he was joking and told him how Jamal was also trying to make her believe in her father's outbursts.

Later on, during Sonic and Chip's battle with Dark Gaia, Rudi and the rest of her village felt the tremors from Chip calling the local Gaia Temple to him.

Wii/PlayStation 2[]

At the beginning of Sonic Unleashed, Rudi and the rest of her family's ancestral home was destroyed in the earthquakes created from Dark Gaia's awakening. As such, Rudi and her family were forced to move to the stilt house village of Adabat.

When Sonic the Werehog and Chip first arrived at Adabat, Rudi met them and welcomed them warmly to her village, though she corrected herself to them by telling that they were just a family of four living here before telling about their home being destroyed. She then told them that her father Teanchai has felt down since then and asked them to talk to him before leading them to him.

Shortly after, Sonic and Chip returned from seeing Teanchai, where she asked them how her father had it, but was disappointed to hear that he was still depressed. Nevertheless, Rudi hoped that her father would get better soon, as she worried his mood would keep him from carrying out his duties. As Sonic and Chip asked Rudi about his duties, she explained that the people in Adabat had been charged of watching over the Sacred Shrine for generations and that her father personally oversaw the Gaia Gate. She then had the idea of having Sonic and Chip checking the Sacred Shrine and gave them the Moon Tablet for the task. As they asked her why she would give them something so valuable, Rudi told them that she knew from Teanchai's expression that he knew what they were doing and that he wanted to help them.

After that, Rudi occasionally met Sonic and Chip again, where she told Sonic that she had faith he would finish the job and that she hoped they would stay and enjoy themselves.

Later on, Rudi met Sonic and Chip again. Aware that they would ask about the Sacred Shrine's Sun Tablet, Rudi told them that she had been waiting for them and gave them the Sun Tablet, telling them that its sun icon symbolized Adabat's tranquility. After that, Rudi asked Sonic to restore the world to tranquility.

Later on, during Sonic and Chip's battle with Dark Gaia, Rudi and the rest of her village felt the tremors from Chip calling the local Gaia Temple to him.

Personality[]

Rudi is very much the perfect daughter; she is hardworking, caring and friendly towards others, looks out for her family and keeps an eye on her grades. For all her positive aspects though, Rudi is oblivious to her father's extreme over-protectiveness of her. Even when Rudi hears about it from her own family, she simply contributes it to her father's kindness and worries about her. Interestingly, she is not very keen on revealing what she keeps in the basket on her head, which she teasingly insists is a secret.

Trivia[]

  • Rudi's name in Thai, "ฤดี", is a common nickname in Thailand, meaning happiness or pleasure, and is uncommon to find as a real name, same to Kaeo's.
  • Rudi's name is a common first name for male babies in Indonesia, meaning happiness, respect, and marriage.[1] This is contradicting, since Rudi is a female.
