Knuckles the Echidna[]

Rouge and Knuckles arguing about the fragments of the Master Emerald, from Sonic Adventure 2.
Knuckles the Echidna is Rouge's primary rival and the two have been fighting over the Master Emerald ever since they met. Out of all the characters, Knuckles is most distrusting of Rouge, as her desire for jewels will often cause the Master Emerald to be targeted for theft. Unbeknownst to Knuckles, Rouge has a crush on him, but she would never admit it. Regardless, she is secretly inspired by Knuckles' determination to protect the Master Emerald.[11]
During the Space Colony ARK incident, when Knuckles purposely shatters the Master Emerald to save it from Dr. Eggman, Knuckles and Rouge both go looking for its pieces. During their fight aboard the Space Colony ARK, he saves her life. Rouge and Knuckles share a short moment gazing at each other before Rouge snatches her hand away and retorts with ungratefulness by teasing that he just wanted to hold her hand. In the end, Rouge gives him the remaining pieces of the Master Emerald and complains that "They stink like echidnas do," to imply her stubbornness. Once the Master Emerald is restored, Knuckles needlessly apologizes to Rouge in case he had hurt her and runs off. Before the scene fades out, Rouge gives a thoughtful smile over her shoulder before also heading out.
In Sonic Heroes, they don't have much interaction with each other. When their teams cross paths, Knuckles takes offense at Rouge’s trash talk. At the end of Team Dark's story, Rouge states her intentions go looking for the Master Emerald, "since that irritating echidna is here." However, in the last cutscene, she approaches Knuckles and coquettishly hints about going to look for someone else's treasure (hinting the Master Emerald), with Knuckles commenting that "She never gives up, does she?" before running after her.
In Sonic Battle, Knuckles apologises to Rouge for Emerl's rudeness, showing clear respect, Rouge disappears before Knuckles notices after warning the "boys" (Knuckles & Emerl) to be careful. Rouge is actually helpful towards Knuckles, welcoming Knuckles anytime to Club Rouge for training in his story, the only story where this is possible and even gives an Emerald Shard to Knuckles & Emerl saying she has no use for a measly shard, reminiscent of Sonic Adventure 2, only this time she is amiable when relinquishing the jewel.
In Sonic Rivals 2, the two team up. Rouge's reason for this is because she had a mysterious client who told her that if she found all the Chaos Emeralds, she would be rewarded, so she believes that Knuckles might help her identify her client. When Sonic first saw Knuckles and Rouge together, he teased them, asking them if they were on a date. Rouge is hostile towards Knuckles. She later supports Knuckles throughout the game but later on deceives him by calling him "dashing and daring" in order to distract him while stealing the Master Emerald, much to his fury.
In Sonic Colors (DS), Rouge says that she did not expect to see Knuckles there but then after Sonic & Tails show up, she confesses that the one who wrote the letter luring Knuckles to the location was her and swiftly exits. If her plan was to steal the Master Emerald, she would be on Earth while Knuckles is away from it. The most plausible motive is that Rouge wanted to meet Knuckles at the interstellar amusement park.

Rouge and Knuckles at Sonic's birthday party, from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations.
In both the first and final cutscenes of Sonic Generations, Knuckles and Rouge are seen having a conversation at Sonic's birthday party. They appear to be communicating in a friendly, light-hearted way.

Rouge dalliance Knuckles, from Sonic the Hedgehog #30.
In Sonic Forces, Rouge and Knuckles don't show any sort of rivalry going on, as they are both determined to save the world. Rouge also seems happy to be a spy for the Resistance with Knuckles, who amiably trusts her, as its commander; she even calls him "boss", showing clear respect towards him.
In Team Sonic Racing, their interactions and rivalry are shown to be friendlier, with Rouge playful with Knuckles in a less teasing way. Knuckles is shown to be worried about Rouge, greeting and warning her the race is dangerous so to be careful, of which Rouge is flattered and giggles.
Rouge and Knuckles can get on well, but the latter usually is annoyed by the bat's antics and infatuation with the Master Emerald. Rouge has teased Knuckles over this several times but he has not responded very positively to it. In addition, Rouge has been known to jokingly flirt with Knuckles which flusters him.[12][13]
Shadow the Hedgehog[]
Rouge and Shadow the Hedgehog are working partners; colleagues, first established in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes. They often work together during missions, but are not seen together outside of their business alliance and do not casually spend time in one another's presence. Nonetheless, Shadow is one of the few people Rouge cares about and shows loyalty to, other than herself. It has been implied that she may have feelings for Shadow.[14]
During the Space Colony ARK incident, Shadow and Rouge both operated as allies of Dr. Eggman, though all three had their own motives and initially did not care for each other. Shadow saw similarities to Maria in Rouge and saved her life when she was trapped in Security Hall. Despite how he later dismissed his actions saying he only returned for the Chaos Emeralds that she had acquired, Rouge suspected that there was more to his reason for saving her than he let on. When Shadow supposedly perished, Rouge showed great concern, accepting one of his lost Limiter Rings from Sonic.

Rouge expressing her concern for Shadow's troubles, from Sonic Heroes.
In Sonic Heroes, Rouge forms Team Dark with Shadow and Omega. Surprised to see Shadow alive since his disappearance, Rouge nonetheless swiftly recruits him into her team, as all three were seeking Dr. Eggman for their own reasons. During this time, Rouge and Shadow become closer than they were in Sonic Adventure 2, interacting more within Team Dark as partners alongside Omega. At the end of the game's title sequence, they perform a fist pump before posing with Omega and the other three teams. While out for Eggman's treasure, Rouge is willing to also help the amnesiac Shadow get answers about his past and showed concern for him when they discovered the existence of Shadow Androids.
In Sonic Battle, Rouge lets Shadow stay with her at Club Rouge when he is injured during a fight, carrying him inside when he passes out in front of the club. Also, while Shadow is dreaming, an image of Rouge appears and he whispers, "Ally." Rouge seems offended when Shadow does not thank her for saving him, but later he thanked her when she told him that she actually rescued him.
During her missions in Shadow the Hedgehog, even though GUN has orders from the Commander to capture or kill Shadow, Rouge blatantly goes against these orders to ask for Shadow's help and/or protect him, helping him fight Black Bull and Black Doom. She also serves as the Hero mission partner in GUN Fortress, the final Pure Dark stage, implying that she believed Shadow could still have a change of heart even after working with the Black Arms for so long.
In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Rouge makes an attempt to draw Shadow into a conversation that doesn't involve Mephiles' plan to destroy the world, and at one point she says, "It's always business with you." when Shadow ignores her and rejects the off-topic sessions. Although, Shadow shows he is protective of Rouge's well-being. He caught her from a fall after she was momentarily knocked out by one of Dr. Eggman's robots, and again he jumped in front of her defensively, after a fake Chaos Emerald explodes. After Omega revealed to Shadow that he is the one who traps him in the future, Rouge told Shadow, that she will always be on his side no matter which side he takes, Shadow paused, then replied strongly that he will. In the original Japanese version of the video game, Rouge says, 「世界があんたの敵になってもあたしはあんたの味方よ」[15] which roughly translates to "Even if the world becomes your enemy, I will be your ally." However, this event was erased along with the rest of the events within the game after the "future was reversed."
In Sonic Rivals, Rouge contacts Shadow to tell him what she discovered about Eggman but is cut off when Eggman Nega captures her into a card. After Shadow saves Rouge from Eggman Nega, Rouge tries to persuade him into going treasure hunting with her and suggests the two "take a peek" into their own future using Eggman Nega's device. Shadow declines and the story ends with Rouge still trying to convince Shadow to join her in hunting for the remaining cards.
In Sonic Rivals 2, Rouge's interactions with Shadow are displayed as less than friendly compared to their previous encounters, with her taking advantage of Shadow's trust to learn about his mission, while also refusing to tell Shadow anything about her mysterious client who wants the Chaos Emeralds. Rouge trips Shadow and suggests he is clumsy, sparking a fight between the two which is cut short when Rouge flees the area. Notably, there is no displayed reconciliation between the two in this game.
Despite their previous clash, during the second World Grand Prix, both Shadow and Rouge appear as Team Dark along with E-10000B. Their main focus during the game is winning the treasure and prize money. Unlike in previous games, Shadow seems perfectly content with helping Rouge obtain the treasure she covets.

Shadow and Rouge, from Sonic the Hedgehog #31.
In Sonic Forces, she maintained contact with Shadow while he was still assumed to have gone rogue due to his Phantom Copy. This is evidenced by how, when, reconvening with Rouge, he asks her about whether she found what he had requested earlier.[16]
Shadow is one of Rouge's trusted team members on Team Dark. Even though they would be considered closer than any of Rouge's other allies, Shadow rarely spends time with Rouge outside of their shared missions. Rouge has come to perfectly understand Shadow's troubled personality and dislike of wasting time but becomes annoyed by his often disregard for caution and lack of planning when handling situations on his own. She has also picked up on his habit of him not always listening to her during missions. Despite this, Rouge has a deep respect for Shadow and knows he has a soft spot under his somewhat cold exterior.[17][18][12][19][20][21]
Rouge is often the only one who can reason with Shadow.[22] Sometimes though, she will work behind his back in order to limit the violence on his part since she is well-aware of how violent and aggressive Shadow can be.[17] Regardless, she tries to encourage him to involve himself more with the rest of their allies.[21]
E-123 Omega[]

Rouge and Omega rejoicing at the defeat of Solaris, from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
E-123 Omega is a close ally of Rouge, who is quite loyal to her. She prevented Shadow and Omega from destroying each other in Sonic Heroes, and soon after they formed Team Dark to help her find Eggman's "secret treasure room." Instead of finding treasure, of course, they end up saving the world, and Team Dark has been a tightly-knit trio ever since. She has sometimes shown annoyance at Omega, saying that he is too serious, and she is tired of hearing him ramble on about revenge and hatred. She also dislikes it when Omega ignores her orders and acts on his own destructive tendencies. Despite the robot's intimidating assortment of weaponry, she is definitely not above teasing him about his grandstanding, and while Omega seems annoyed, he does not hold any grudges against her. Upon arriving in White Space, Rouge's lack of communication was quickly noted by Omega, and he encouraged Shadow to try and locate her when he got the chance. When she does meet up with Shadow later in the story, she notes that Omega sounded relieved to know she was fine, which is confirmed by Omega himself. As seen in Sonic Forces, she's not above teasing the bigger machine should the opportunity arise, as she makes fun of Omega's late arrival as him attempting to "look cool", prompting him to feign an attempt to hit her, to which she unflinchingly gives a wink to, implying it's not the first time such an interaction occurred.
Omega is another one of Rouge's trusted comrades on Team Dark.[19] Despite this, they rarely spend time together outside of their shared missions. Rouge in particular is very much aware of Omega's tactlessness and has to silence him sometimes.[8] She was likewise not interested in helping fix him after the Zombot apocalypse until she noticed a way of how it could benefit her.[8] Nevertheless, Rouge and Omega are able to work well together and come up with more intricate plans.[8] In White Space, Omega will confess that upon looking back at when he first met Shadow and Rouge, he's come to truly like and appreciate working alongside his two teammates, having earned his trust when it does not come easy.
G.U.N.[]
Amy Rose[]
Rouge and Amy watching Shadow save the world, from Shadow the Hedgehog.
Rouge and Amy Rose are generally portrayed allies but sometimes bitter rivals towards each other. In Sonic Battle, the two fight several times over Emerl. When Amy called Rouge's house a "dump", Rouge was furious about Amy's comment and the two started to fight over an Emerald Shard.
As shown in Shadow the Hedgehog, when Shadow had saved the world and defeated the Black Arms in the last story, Rouge says that she hopes he's okay. Amy comforts her by saying, "I'm sure he's fine, Rouge. After all, he is Shadow." Rouge then looks back at her and nods in agreement. Also, at the end of Sonic Forces, they seem to be having a friendly conversation.
Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Sonic giving Rouge one of Shadow's Limiter Rings to comfort her, from Sonic Adventure 2.
As seen so far, Rouge and Sonic the Hedgehog do not really show a dislike for each other, despite being associated with each other’s rival, Shadow and Knuckles. Also, despite having some conflicting encounters and standpoints, they appear to be on good terms. They were at first enemies during the Space Colony ARK incident since Rouge was working with Shadow and Eggman, although they had no proper meeting until they later became allies during the event to save the earth. Then, after Shadow's supposed death after defeating the Finalhazard, Sonic comforted her by giving her his Limiter Ring. In Sonic Battle, Rouge challenges him to a battle, if she wins, Sonic will have to get her gems and work for her. Sonic manages to win however, but he did not hold any grudge against her as seen later on. Later, Sonic let Emerl say hello to Rouge, which suggest Sonic somehow trusts her. She gives Sonic the nickname "Big Blue" in Sonic Generations when rescued.

Rouge flirting with Sonic, from the Nintendo DS version of Sonic Colors.
It is worth noting that in Sonic Generations, Rouge is one of the voluntary attendees at Sonic's birthday party and that Sonic treated her as all of his other friends, which shows a friendly relation between them. If Classic Sonic rescues her, she tells him to watch out for the Time Eater, then adds that he's not the Sonic she knows.
Although they have civil interactions, they still sometimes get into fights, like in Sonic Heroes when Team Sonic and Team Dark fought over who would get to Eggman first and in Sonic Battle when she kidnapped Emerl to train him to be a thief. He also told her if she did something to Emerl, he wouldn't let her off easily. When Rouge was introduced to Emerl, she gave them an idea to help Emerl, Sonic refused, calling her 'a thief'. Whether this means their friendship has grown since then or that Sonic just does not trust her completely is yet to be seen. When not fighting at worst, they can show mild dislike of the other’s personality quirks. Along with his teammates and Team Rose, Sonic is disapproving of Rouge and Shadow pushing E-10000B past its limits during the second World Grand Prix. In Team Sonic Racing, Rouge shows mild annoyance at his and Shadow's "ego competition" when they all should be determining the motivations of the shady Dodon Pa and his possible alliance with Eggman.

Rouge and Sonic, from Sonic the Hedgehog #59.
Overall, Rouge sees Sonic as a "shrewd" person.[23] Although not often, due to Rouge's thieving nature, there are times when she cannot help herself but to cheat, take advantage of, or steal something from him.[24][23][25] Therefore, she often hides important information about her mission or the real purpose of giving him the information from her. The conversations between Sonic and Rouge are often "probing," camouflaged by jokes, but Sonic loves to joke and talk lightly, while Rouge is a sarcastic person. Nevertheless, both Sonic and Rouge enjoy the conversations between them that play out their "good-natured" rivalry, and can think of each other as people they can rely on in times of need, with appropriate levels of trust and caution. Whenever Rouge jumps into Sonic's adventures, she always brings new developments to Sonic and his friends.[23]
Rouge sees Sonic as a competent ally capable of helping out those in need. She knows that he has a strong sense of justice and has been known to manipulate it before, although their motivations tend to contrast each other. Nonetheless, Sonic mutually trusts her to work alongside him and the two get along quite well, especially over their mutual teasing of Shadow and Knuckles.[17][12][19][20][26]
Miles "Tails" Prower[]

Rouge kissing Tails, from Sonic Battle.
Rouge and Miles "Tails" Prower have a friendly though sometimes tense relationship, despite Rouge adding complications to it. They will usually get along, but Rouge occasionally loves to tease Tails. Rouge has accumulated a variety of nicknames for Tails, most notably "Cutie" and "Foxboy".
During the Space Colony ARK incident, Tails was basically unaware of Rouge's presence, but this was because Rouge was sent by Eggman to spy on Tails when he was trying to find the President. After that their interaction stopped until the Ark was set on its collision course with the Earth. In Sonic Battle, Rouge would use her charm to tease Tails, even kissing Tails should he lose their bet for the access card, as her reward for winning. She was however very helpful in Tails' story as she gave him the access card for the Central Computer Room whether or not he won the fight, broke up Tails and Shadows' fight, and told Tails how to escape the Guard Robots. Later on, in Rouge's story, Tails had to stop Rouge from stealing a Chaos Emerald. During the second World Grand Prix, Tails was angered with Rouge's selfish and unsympathetic behavior towards her teammate E-10000B. During the Mirage Express incident, as a favor in return for her assistance in Tails' investigation, Rouge enlists Tails' help in stealing a valuable Fabergé Egg from the Mirage Express. Specifically, she finds Tails' genius to be of great use in disarming the security and robotic train arms along the way, and later Tails' deductive skills in reasoning how the fabergé egg wasn't a bomb as she feared. Although Tails is somewhat uncertain about the morality involved, and tries to reign in Rouge's urge to pickpocket along the way, Tails feels very proud that their meticulous plan goes off without a hitch, and later admits that he had a lot of fun working with Rouge.
Vector the Crocodile[]
Rouge and Vector the Crocodile have interacted a couple of times in the games, usually in an uncomfortable manner. She often disrespects him and marks him foolish. In Sonic Heroes in Team Dark's story, when Rouge was the leader for Team Dark, the Chaotix budged in her way, both started trash-talking each other until Rouge asked for a fight. On Team Chaotix's side, Vector claims Rouge's team as the enemies and their client adversary which lead to a fight.
In Sonic Free Riders, in the finals, both seem to have a common interest in winning the Grand Prix's prize money. Like Team Sonic and Rose, Vector dislikes her and Shadow's treatment of their robot partner in their single-minded goal of getting the cash prize. He even says that he can relate with her in wanting the prize, though not at the expense of a teammate.
Cream the Rabbit[]
Rouge is known to be a bad example for Cream the Rabbit, having given her tips on how to best rob a luxury hotel and by letting her know that small lies are not harmful.[27]
Gemerl[]
Gemerl is usually wary of Rouge and her intentions for Cream, having noticed her perchance for deceit. He will similarly openly oppose her when she tries to compromise his integrity and guidelines. Rouge, in turn, usually reassures him so that she will not get in his way using force.
Wave the Swallow[]
Rouge and Wave the Swallow have only interacted during the second World Grand Prix. They have shown to have some kind of competitive rivalry and put each other down if one of them wins. The two of them also share the same interest for money and treasure.
